Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing Massive down pours were the name of the game on Sunday’s race in Nanaimo. Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing rider Shawn Maffenbeier along with affiliate Yamalube MX101 rider Shawn Robinson were well prepared coming off of their winter training session in California with PerformX trainer Todd Shumlick. “I’m coming into this season even stronger and with more confidence,” said Maffenbeier.

Once he could see again he had lost some positions but managed to battle back and finish 8th in the first moto. The second moto was a rougher start. Shawn ended up with a flat by the 3rd lap but was still competing hard in 8th. We thought the clutch had gone in the last lap but it turned out the tire had finally spun off the rim and Shawn was able to limp across the finish for 13th. That put him in 10th overall for the day.” “Although the conditions were soggy the SSS Suspension and PRC built Yamalube Schrader’s Yamaha 450F powered by Renegade Fuel, had the traction from the Dunlop tires and durability to be in the top of the field,” said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier. “The Troy Lee Gear and equipment looked good at the beginning, but most importantly helped protect our riders as they battled through the muck. A big thanks out to Matrix for the new stands and the Atlas neck braces. Brady Sherren is more than willing to get you in the right gear. I would also like to thank Joey at Husky in Regina for being our fuel sponsor for the West. Getting to the races is always a challenge and he makes sure that happens for us.”

I spent the winter in California at the PerformX Motorcross Training where I lost over 20 pounds on the great nutrition program and was able to improve my conditioning,” said Robinson. “I have high expectations of myself this season and I want to thank all my sponsors who have helped me make this possible including MX101 and the Robinson Brothers.”
