KYLE KEAST
Keast garners a 4th overall at Round 1 It was a wet first round of the 2012 Monster Energy Canadian Motocross Nationals this past weekend in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Mother Nature showed up and pelted Wastelands MX Park with a constant rainfall. The grueling conditions still made for some amazing racing. Yamaha Canada / Machine Racing / Troy Lee Designs backed Kyle Keast got off to a great start to the season garnering 4th overall with 4 - 4 moto finishes. In the first moto, the rain came down hard as the gate dropped, with Leading Edge Kawasaki rider, Matt Goerke pulling the holeshot with Keast rounding the first turn in 6th. At the halfway mark, while in 4th and gaining ground on 3rd place, OTSFF Yamaha racer, Bobby Kiniry, Keast would stall and drop back down to 6th. He charged hard and regained his 4th place position, passing Jaromir Romancik and Tyler Villopoto by the time the checkered flag waved. An overly saturated track made for decision to shorten the second motos to 15 minutes plus two laps. Moto two would be much of the same as the first, with Goerke pulling the holeshot, followed by Colton Facciotti, Kiniry and Keast. Some great battles ensued during the short time frame on the track, as Keast would find time on Kiniry, showing him his front wheel a few times and narrowly missed the 3rd spot on the podium. Kyle Keast: “I would like to send thanks to my sponsors for their support, Yamaha Canada, Machine Racing and John Nelson, Yamalube, Troy Lee Designs, GYTR, Podium Grafix, Actionetix and Craig, FMF, VP Racing Fuels, Ride Engineering, Bondi Engines, Smith Optics, Gaerne, CTi, Works Connection, Matrix and of course my mechanic, Ryan Lockhart"
