A s D e n v e r ’ s f i r s t a n d o l d e s t Art District, the Art District on Santa Fe is the heart of neighborhood which hosts the city’s popular First Friday Art Walk. The idea of borderless or blurry edge will be carried out as the main theme o f t h e b u i l d i n g. T h e f o r m o f t h e a r c h i t e c t u r e o n t h e s t r e e t e d g e h a s a s u b t l e gravity to draw people into the building by fusing between the street edge and t h e b u i l d i n g. T h e s p a c e s w i t h i n t h e b u i l d i n g w i l l a l s o h a v e a s e n s e o f c o n t i n u i t y in both movement and visual. This will provide the sense of simultaneous and interrelated discoveries as one move through the spaces rather than feeling e n c l o s e d i n o n e s p a c e.

P e r f o r a t i o n s i n t h e g a l l e r i e s a l l o w v i s i t o r s to have visual through the framed apertures which create a subtle gravity a s o c c u p a n t s m o v e t h r o u g h t h e a t r i u m s p a c e. T h e a t r i u m s p a c e i s f l e x i b l e to adapt the needs of the building while creating an active and vivid environment. The building has a courtyard to provide green space for the neighborhood where people can use it as a place for contemplation or h o s t v a r i o u s p e r f o r m a n c e s a n d c u l t u r a l a c t i v i t i e s. T h e c o u r t y a r d i s a l s o i n t e g r a t e d i n t o t h e f l e x i b l e a u d i t o r i u m s p a c e. During the beginning phase of the project, I helped with t h e r e s e a r c h s o n B e i r u t z o n i n g, a n d m a k i n g c o n c e p t u a l m o d e l s i n b o t h p h y s i c a l a n d 3 D. I w o r k e d a l o n g w i t h t h e principle architect to develop the conceptual diagrams and urban axonometric to convey the main ideas of our project. L a s t l y, I h e l p e d w i t h p o s t - p r o c e s s i n g o f t h e a r c h i t e c t u r a l visualization.

R i g a h o l d s o n e o f t h e l a r g e s t e x p o i n t h e n o r t h e r n r e g i o n o f E a s t e r n E u r o p e. T h e s i t e i s located at Kipsala which is in the heart of Latvian captital. The new building will not only a c c o m o d a t e a u d i t o r i u m s, c o n f e r e n c e r o o m s, a n d o f f i c e s, b u t a l s o i t w i l l b e c o m e o n e o f t h e iconic buildings which promotes vibrant culture of Riga. The design of the new building d o e s n o t o n l y f u l f i l t h e r e q u i r e d p r o g r a m s. T h e d e s i g n p r o m o t e s p o s i t i v e u r b a n c o n n e c t i o n w i t h t h e s u r r o u d i n g s.

The new building is located on the main street of Kipsala Isalnd. The site slopes down to the underground lobby to connect between the existing exhibition halls and the new building which maximizes the public space on the ground. The sloping ground also becomes a possible o u t d o o r p u b l i c s p a c e w h i c h c a n h o l d t e m p o r a r y e v e n t s. T h e a t r i u m s p a c e o n t h e c o r n e r o f t h e s t r e e t d r a w s p e o p l e u p t o t h e a u d i t o r i u m s a n d t h e r e s t a u r a n t . T h e r a m p a l o n g t h e a t r i u m f r a m e s t h e v i e w b a c k t o t h e O l d R i g a . T h i s i s a m i d - r i s e, m i x e d - u s e c o m p l e x w i t h a f f o r d a b l e h o u s i n g u n i t s, a N Y C o u t p o s t o f t h e The Andy Warhol Museum and a new home for the historic Essex Street Market. The main c o n c e p t i s t o c r e a t e a n i n t i m a t e i n n e r c i t y w i t h s m a l l g r e e n s p a c e s. N o t o n l y t h i s w i l l c r e a t e livable environment, but also rethink the way mixed-use complex are being designed in urban environment.
