NeXT GENERATION “a” SERIES

A blend of the World’s best.Something something something something

Setting New Standards for Efficiency, Economy, and Boating Pleasure

Motul is a specialist oil company that concentrates exclusively on manufacturing performance oils, not a company that only sees motor oil as a by-product of petroleum production. Motul design and blend special oils for everyday use that give high performance as standard so you can use the same oil as race engines use off the shelf.

lean burn control system

Motul has been in operation since 1853 and is sold in 65 countries. They have provided the engineering industry with the following world first’s: • • •

1953 - The World’s 1st Multi-Grade Motor Oil. 1966 - The World’s 1st Semi-Synthetic Motor Oil. 1971 - The World’s 1st 100% Synthetic Motor Oil.

Qualified oils Oils are designed for a specific purpose. The NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) recommends FC-WTM oil for outboards and this has been verified and approved by Suzuki Marine, Japan. FC-WTM background • Meets specifications for emission and fuel economy targeted by NMMA. • Satisfies engine testing for dedicated marine outboard applications. Simulate real engine operation to check whether oils can sustain film thickness. • Reflect actual marine outboard engine operation in the specification of FC-W. • More focus on marine engine design, Corrosion protection with salty water. • Sustainable capability of oil film thickness * Entire range of Motul oils also available.

Most outboard OEMs support to the above concept. FC-W launched in 2004.

Why does Suzuki Choose Motul? The World’s best 4-stroke deserves the worlds best oil and in our opinion after extensive testing Motul oils have proven themselves to be the world’s best. Motul offer the right blend of lubricants to give the required protection to the Suzuki range of outboard motors. Suzuki’s Anti Corrosion Finish On all 4-Stroke outboards, Suzuki uses its own, original Suzuki AntiCorrosion Finish to guard the outboard against the harmful effects of corrosion. This special formula integrated with the aluminium itself as well as being applied directly to the outboard’s aluminium surface to provide maximum bonding of the finish to the alloy surface. Layered on top are an epoxy, primer undercoat, black metallic finish, Acrylic Resin Clear Topcoat and clear acrylic resin finish that together, Acrylic Resin Black form an effective treatment against Metallic Basecoat corrosion.

Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection Suzuki also pioneered the use of Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection in four-stroke outboards with the introduction of the award winning DF70 and DF60. Found on all models from the DF40 and up, the system utilizes an ECM (Engine Control Module) that constantly monitors crucial data in real time, from a comprehensive network of critically placed sensors. Using this data the ECM instantly calculates the optimum amount of fuel to be injected at high pressure into the cylinders by the Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection system. The system delivers lower fuel consumption, reduced exhaust emissions, smoother starts, crisper acceleration, smoother performance, and maximum efficiency.

DF90A/80A/70A Suzuki’s New Generation 4-Strokes Ten years after starting the four-stroke revolution with its award winning DF70 outboard, Suzuki has reinvented this category with the new DF90A, DF80A, DF70A—the first of Suzuki’s New Generation four-strokes.

Compact Design Suzuki engineers are known for creating some of the most compact four-stroke outboards in their respective classes. With the DF90A/80A/70A, they started with a clean sheet of paper, redesigning every part and component and incorporating the knowledge and technical advancements gained over the last ten years to create even lighter, more compact outboards. Like the original DF90, Suzuki has used its offset driveshaft to create a compact design that offers better power performance, balance, and reduced vibration. A newly designed powerhead reduces the size even further making the new DF90A smaller than its predecessor and the most compact outboard in its class.

Lean Burn Control System To get the most out of every drop of fuel, Suzuki engineers have designed a lean burn control system that predicts fuel needs according to operating conditions. The system achieves greater fuel efficiency (up to 30% better than competitors in this class) and also provides a wider lean burn range that extends up into the top speed range delivering more efficient operation at cruising speeds as well.

Smooth Shifting and the Suzuki Easy Start System All three outboards offer smoother shifting through the use of a newly designed transmission and shifting system engineered with greater precision to reduce play and noise. Using a shift sensor allows monitoring of shift action by the ECM which then controls ignition for more precise shifting. With the Suzuki Easy Start system all you do is turn the key and release, the starter does the rest, staying engaged until the engine starts. The system also offers smoother and improved starts, more efficient combustion, and greater fuel economy. The system achieves greater fuel efficiency (up to 30% better than other outboard brands).

New Trim and Tilt Limit System The DF90A/80A/70A are equipped with a new trim and tilt limit system designed to protect the boat from damage that can occur if the outboard is tilted too far. The system incorporates a tilt angle sensor that functions as both a tilt limit and trim sender and uses a step-free, continuous type limiter that makes installation of the outboard possible on nearly any type of boat.

The shift lever is located in front of the engine so there is no need to reach around the side of the outboard to shift. Steering tension is set with a simple adjustment lever and the outboard’s lightweight design and sturdy carrying handle make it easy to carry.

Easy to maintain Both the oil dipstick and filter can be accessed without having to remove the side covers, so checking and changing oil is a breeze. The outboard has a water separator that is built-in—not bolted to the boat—to keep water that might get into the fuel system out of the carburetor. The engine is covered with two-piece side covers that come apart for easy engine access, should you ever need to get to the engine’s components.
