April, 2012 Auxiliary fund-raisers
Have a lot of fun and support Cancer Fund Save these dates for two upcoming events, while you are supporting our community. Thursday, April 19 We will be putting on our annual Polynesian Dinner, with the proceeds to go into the Auxiliary Cancer Fund. Don t miss this great dinner. Wear your Hawaiian gear and pretend you re on vacation in paradise!! Saturday, April 28 Come down on this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., have soup and a sandwich, and shop! We will be having a Miche Bag party, a Scentsy party and possibly a jewelry party, as well! We had something like it last year and it was very successful! If you don t have a Miche bag, you re missing out! Come check it out with the latest in spring covers for your purse. Scentsy has so many great smelling scents for the burners, which don t take candles!! Come on down, and make it a great time. A percentage of these sales will go to our Auxiliary Cancer Fund. We raised more than $5,000 last year, so let s show that we can beat that number!! Our Auxiliary came in second in the nation. I think we can take first this year! All money stays in Puyallup!! Shireen Ainsworth, Auxiliary Cancer Chairman
Hall of Fame looking for new nominations!! The Aerie Hall of Fame Committee is asking for nominations to our Hall of Fame. We will accept nominations until Wednesday, April 18 so a selection can be made that will be revealed at our Old Timer s Dinner in May. Applications are available at the Secretary s office. We can have as many as four names selected each year. Fill out your nomination and drop it in the mail slot at the Secretary s office. Thanks.

2012 Ken Wilson Benefit Dance was a big success A big thanks to all who participated in the Ken Wilson Benefit Dance. Everyone had a good time. We would especially like to thank the Puyallup Eagles and staff for all of their help in assisting us with our efforts. Thanks to The Great Pretenders who do what they do best by putting on a show that some say was the best the club has ever seen. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped support our cause. Without all of you, none of this would have been possible. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support. Sincerely, The Ken Wilson Family
April news from Your Madam President
It s taxing, with sunshine, bunnies & blooms As I write this newsletter, I can say I am looking forward to the warmth of the spring sunshine, the flowers blooming, and the children running around hunting for that special gift basket of treats that Easter may bring. Oh, and of course, don t forget that taxing time of the year we all contemplate. Will I owe or will I have some cash coming back. Let s all hope for the latter. March was filled with a number of activities such as the District #7 Meeting in our Aerie. The Sisters had 57 Auxiliary members from around the District and the Aerie had 44 Aerie members who attended. Thanks much to all who brought first-time attendees and thanks to all who assisted with the hosting of this meeting. The breakfast was great. My thanks to all who worked the breakfast. The next District #7 Meeting will be held in Wilkeson on Sunday, April 15. All members are welcome to attend. Congrats to Shireen Ainsworth. She was appointed as Eaglet of the Year. Thanks to Shireen and all her helpers for doing a great job on the wine tasting event for the Auxiliary Cancer Fund. This was a fun and successful event. I m sure all of you noticed the Shamrocks hanging around the Aerie. What fun we have raising money for our charities. Look for the eggs to be hanging around in April. We had a great turn out for the oyster and ham dinner that was put on by the Past Presidents for Camp Panther. Many of you helped out and many supported this fun event. What a great job the Ballard Youth did serving and entertaining. As I write this newsletter, a number of events have not even occurred. I appreciate that the fund-raising continues and the hard work of many who chair our committees. Your support our efforts does not go unnoticed. Many work very hard and I thank you all. We are truly People Helping People. Take a look at the calendar for this month: April 7 Kid s Easter Egg Hunt, 11 a.m. April 8 Easter Buffet, 8 a.m. to noon. April 15 District Meeting, Wilkeson, 10 a.m.

April 19 - Polynesian Dinner to Support Cancer April 21 Work Party Outside clean-up, 8 am Please continue to bring your spare change or dollars down to the potty on the dance floor for Pope s Kids. This money all goes to help care for kids with special needs. During the past month the Auxiliary initiated five new Sisters. Welcome all, and please come to our meetings and get involved. Our meetings are on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. See you here. Love & Luck, Kathy Crouchet. Madam President
No matter the weather, we still have lots of fun Well it s still winter and the weather can t make up it s mind to either rain, snow or sunshine. But the Daffodil Roamers don t care what the day brings other than allowing all of us to get together for another wonderful gathering. On March 15-18, we were in the Shelton area on Harstene Island. This is such a beautiful location with it s view of Mt Rainier and the surrounding waters and islands. We cooked up a pot of seafood stew and oysters on the barbie. We were hoping the sun would be shining while we all gathered around a nice warm fire pit enjoying each others company. Of course, we have our potlucks and in the evening some of us like to sit and play card or board games. There is always opportunities to take leisure walks on the beach. In April we will head to Rest Awhile Resort in Hoodsport. In May we travel to Winthrop for Packer s Days and fishing at Pearrygin State Park. Keep us in mind on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. for our next meeting, upstairs above the restaurant area. We will be having our elections that evening for new officers. We ll be looking for you. Sincerely, Sheron Mozzone Secretary, Daffodil Roamers RV Club
Thanks for your Cancer Fund support in March! Thank you everyone for donating and getting your Shamrock for Cancer! The club room looked pretty festive with all the green Shamrocks hanging! Look for me soon to be selling some Easter Eggs for the Auxiliary Cancer Fund. Get your bunny on!! Shireen Ainsworth, Auxiliary Cancer Fund -2-

Thanks for your help on ‘Pulling the Cork’ Thanks to all who helped to “Pull the Cork on Cancer!” I want to thank everyone, from those who bought tickets, to those who helped me, and to those who just wanted to donate. I wasn’t sure if I was going to pull this off in one piece as it was my biggest venture since becoming the Auxiliary Cancer chairman two years ago. . . but I think everyone who came out to the wine tasting event, had a really good time. I apologize to anyone who got a less-than-perfect cancer ribbon on their wine glass, as it was my very first attempt at glass etching. The first batch didn’t
turn out as nice as those I did later on. I learned a bit from my mistakes! I did 122 glasses, so I got a little better as I went along. Thanks to all who donated for our door prizes. Here’s a big shout-out to the table of cancer survivors who showed up and to those who have benefited from our donations to “Partners Oncology!” It makes it all so worthwhile. It gave me goose bumps just hearing their stories! Thanks again to you all!! “People Helping People” is the name of the game!! — Shireen Ainsworth, Auxiliary Cancer Chairman

This and that. . .
Luck of the Irish for nine of our winners!!! The luck of the Irish was still working for nine players who won some of the green stuff on Sunday, March 18.. They were: First, James Roberts; second, Steve James; third, Marv Fleck; fourth, Carl Kennard; fifth, Rory Knox; sixth, Corey Gile; seventh, Montana Saunders; eighth, Paul Thomas, Jr.; and ninth, Ken Heap. Congratulations to all of you. The early start time seems to be working for players and makes more seats available for the 5 p.m. jackpot drawing. We didn’t hear any complaints and received lots of compliments about the game. Our volunteers do a great job and enjoy helping and visiting with the players. Thanks to Susan for helping with signing in non-members. We hope Kathy Buse feels better as she was missed. The next game is on sunday, April 15, which is on the third week again because of Easter. C.U. Thank you. — Bob Reynolds, Chairman, (253) 535-6706
