Happy ! Easter

April 2010

Web Site: www.puyallupeagles2308.org E-Mail:aerie2308@gmail.com

Volunteers will be Joint PP’s Easter honored April 18! Buffet on April 4 At a joint officers’ meeting, the officers felt the volunteers of our club are our heroes who keep the club running. We feel that for this reason we should do something for them. On Sunday, April 18 at 6 p.m. we will have an appreciation dinner for all volunteers who worked from June 1, 2009 until now. Each of you will be getting an invitation to this dinner. The club will close at 6 p.m. and be open only to those volunteers who are invited to the dinner. If you have not received an invitation by Monday, April 12 and feel you are entitled to come to this dinner, you must contact Ellen Blakely at (253) 531-8687 or Loni Andrews, our Club Manager. This dinner is only for the volunteers, not spouses unless they also volunteered. We are looking forward to seeing you! — Ellen & Leonard Blakely, Chairmen

Mark your calendars to once again attend our Annual Easter Buffet prepared and served by the Aerie and Auxiliary Joint Past Presidents’ Club at Daffodil Aerie on Sunday, April 4! A feast of breakfast favorites will be piping hot and ready to fill your plates! The all-you-can-eat buffet will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 5 and under. See you here! — DeAnn Widener, President Joint Past President's Club

Madam Prez Sez. . .

Volunteer Pam is Congrats to 2308’s our top ‘Eaglette’ From Your Aerie President

Eagle of the Year!! Hello again Brothers and Sisters! Congratulation to Brother Bob Ainsworth, Sr. for winning the Eagle of the Year award! Bob is very involved with the events and fund-raisers here at Daffodil. He can usually be found volunteering for most everything that happens. Since I’ve met Bob, I’ve been impressed by what I’ve learned about him. I was not aware that he once was the Manager, but I did know that he was a Trustee. He’ll spearhead an idea and see it through, then he blends back into the crowd. He does these things and doesn’t seek any recognition See From Your Aerie President on Page 2

Congratulations to Pam Alfriend for receiving Eaglette of the Year award!! Pam has volunteered for Soup and Sandwich Saturday, Sunday Breakfasts and Tuesday Night Dinners, just to name a few. She is also working the door on Friday and Saturday nights. Great job, Pam! Now it is hard to believe that it is already April. We have meetings on the 8th and the 22nd. Please come and have a little fun and support your Auxiliary. On Thursday, April 22, we will have nominations of officers. That’s also the date for our membership dinner which is by invitation only. I would like to thank everyone this year who has helped the Auxiliary and me. Thank you all. You will all be reward some day! — Loni A., Madam Prez

Fund-raiser Help Brother Crouchet through the state chairs! A fund-raiser dinner and silent auction will be held on Sunday, April 25 to support Mark Crouchet in his campaigns for state office. The event will be held from 2-6 p.m. The dinner is $10. We will serve a pasta dinner with Italian sausage, real Italian meatballs, salad with tomatoes, and red wine dressing or Italian dressing. For dessert, there be Pizzelles Italian cookies made by the cook Vincenjo “Jimmy” Trinchini. There is also talk of Spumoni ice cream. Bob Reynolds and Mary Johnson will be running the silent auction. If you have some new or unused items in good shape that you would like to donate, please contact them at (253) 535-6706. Many have asked why I am putting on these functions if there is no one running against me. One reason is that there could be someone that may want to run against me off the floor at the State Eagles Convention. If not this year, it could down the road. Nothing is for certain until I reach the position of Vice President, President-Elect. Another reason for this fund-raiser is that when I become your State President, I will be partly responsible for the banquet at the convention, and at the end of the term, my Homecoming. Those, combined along with other essentials, will be in the excess of around $10,000. That’s why we are working towards achieving that goal. Thank you for the support you have shown me these past few years and to those members working so hard to achieve our goals. I said in the beginning that I can only do this with your support and you have shown me that you do support me and for that I am grateful. I have done and learned a lot in my few years as your State Officer and I believe that I have been able to help other Aeries during that time, as well. I hope that you will continue to support me in the following year as I make my way through the State Offices as Brothers

Bob Curtis and Leonard Blakely, both from Daffodil Aerie #2308, have done before me. — Fraternally, Mark Crouchet, Washington State FOE Outside Guard

Daffodil Roamers News

We enjoyed spring at Harstine Island! The top of the mornin’ to you. We hope you had a Happy St. Patty’s Day! Well it looks like spring has sprung with all the new buds and flowers starting to bloom. We’ve had a very mild winter and spring looks to be just around the corner. The Daffodil Roamers took advantage of the mild weather and headed for Harstine Island March 11-14. The Teamster members of our group signed us into the park on the southwest corner of the island. It’s a beautiful place located right on the water’s edge, with access to the beach with it’s oyster and clam beds. They have a lovely club house for us to gather for our potlucks and game playing. We always have such a wonderful time. Remember that our monthly meetings take place on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the upstairs meeting hall. — Sheron Mozzone, Secretary, Daffodil Roamers RV Club

Softball fund-raiser set Grab the family and head to the ballpark or just eat like your are there. Money will help with league fees, tournaments and sweatshirts. Help us get the Eagles out on the ball field. — Jen Haugen -5-

We’re off to REAC’s State Convention!!!!

From Your Aerie President

Don’t miss Daffodil’s Egg Hunt on April 4 ______________________ Continued From Page 1 for them. As he has said to me when I asked him, “I do it for the team.” He is, in essence, other than a member, what you might say is a silent partner to the Aerie. Congrats again! As always, April usually signals a time for families and children to spend more time outdoors. Many families hold egg hunts for Easter and the Aerie family is no different, as we will be having an Easter egg hunt of our own for the children. We’re also going to have the nominations of officers for next year. If you think this is something you are interested in doing, you will need to come to the meetings or submit a letter of acceptance to the Secretary for the nomination you desire. The Secretary can let you know of all offices that will be up for election. Next month I will be writing about the annual food drive that the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the Postal Service has in May. I think this is something that helps and betters our communities. As I mentioned before, the warmer weather will get us all thinking about our favorite activities. I personally start to think more of fishing and riding the motorcycle. Whatever it is that you enjoy most about this time of year, have a good time and be safe. Thank you all again for your patience and advice. — Fraternally, Jonas White, Aerie President

Thanks for the benefit Puyallup Eagles Members and officers: Thank you so much for doing a fund-raiser to benefit our family at this difficult time. It is greatly appreciated! The out pouring of love and support from the community has been incredible. I am proud that my Uncle Mike is a member of your organization. Thank you again. — Lisa Mundell and Family

The Easter Bunny will soon hop by and bring candy and goodies to the little ones. We hope you are gathering with family and friends to celebrate.
