Mark your calendar for Sunday, December 5. That will be the date for the last oyster dinner this year. This marks over 30 years that we have been doing these dinners, but who is counting? We will have the usual fries, cole slaw and toast with the dinner and a generous portion of ham for those very few non-oyster eaters. We will charge $9 for a baker’s dozen of oysters. I dare you to beat that price anywhere. The cost of the ham dinner will be $7. No seconds! We will be limiting the amount of tickets to 150 oyster tickets and 50 ham tickets, so get your tickets early. Don’t expect to buy them the day of the dinner. They are very rarely available then. Tickets are on sale now! There is no refund once you buy the tickets. The dinner will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Diabetes Fund. Tickets will be available at the secretary’s office, from the door person and from the manager. There will be a silent auction during the dinner. In addition to all of this, there will be a representative from the Diabetes Association of Pierce County present for three hours, from 3 to 6 p.m. to test your blood glucose. So come early for dinner, get your blood sugar checked and get ready for a day of fun. — Leonard and Ellen Blakely, Co-Chairmen.

Merry Christmas to all of our REAC’ers Has this year gone fast or what? There was not much summer, then bang, it’s winter already. All REAC officers have been re-elected unanimously by our members. We look forward to another year of friendships, good times and lots of good food. Good health to all and a merry Christmas. There will be no second meeting in December, so we will see you in January. Be ready to pay dues at our first January meeting — Joyce Louderback, Reporter

Words from Loni
Wow, the holidays are here already!! Wow, it’s December already. I can’t even imagine it is almost Christmas. First of all I hope that by the time we are reading this that the bar is repaired and the service bar is put away. Thanks to every one of you Brothers and Sisters who have had the patience while construction was going on. The employees did an awesome job through this construction trying to keep all happy. Thank you to all the staff for your patience, as well. I know it was hard at times, but I believed you could come together and accomplish the task. Thank you. Don’t forget we have a New Year’s Eve Party on Friday, December 31. The party starts at 8 p.m. The cost is $30 for singles and $50 for couples. This once again includes your gratuity. There will be some other surprises, too. The theme this year is a “Blast From The Past.” You may dress in clothes from the 20s, 30s, 40s and on up. Who knows, you might even win a prize. We plan on a fun night. Thank you to everyone who is either helping raise money or donating money to the “I Love This Bar Fund.” if you check out the thermometer in the entry way, you will see it is rising. Thank you all. I hope all of my Brothers and Sisters have the happiest of holidays. Be safe. — Loni A., Aerie Manager
From Your Madam President
December is a very busy month Winter is approaching, so get those gloves and boots out. We could be in for some interesting weather this year, so maybe we will get to see those Christmas lights covered with snow. I know some of you do not like that word, but it sure makes things so beautiful and peaceful. I would like to thank my Bazaar Chairman, Phyllis Dickson, for all of her hard work in making our bazaar one of the best we have had. She did a great job, along with all of her helpers. It was a huge success. December is a busy month for our club. Sunday, December 5 is the Oyster Dinner with a silent auction from 3 to 6 p.m. The proceeds go to the Diabetes Fund. Thursday, December 9 is the Auxiliary’s 71st Anniversary. We will have a ham dinner for $5 at 6 p.m. with our meeting to follow. On Thursday, December 16, please don’t forget that we will have the State Madam President, Sharon Hayes, visiting our club. We will have a baked potato bar at 6 p.m. The cost is $6. Our meeting will follow after dinner. I hope to see our Sisters give her a big welcome. It will be lots of fun! The Kids’ Christmas Party will be on Sunday December 19. Santa will be flying in to surprise us all. We will have our “Giving Tree” out in the front lobby. Remember this is the season for giving and sharing. Please help out so we can bring joy to others. I would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. There is nothing better than family, so enjoy each and every one of them. I hope you all have a great New Year! — Penny Fiedler, Madam President “For this I bless you most: You give much and know not that you give at all.”
Aerie to nominate, elect a new Vice President!!! Nominations for Vice President will be held at the Aerie meeting on Wednesday, December 1. Election, if needed, will be on Wednesday, December 15. -5-

Only 65 cookbooks left
Please help us ‘fix the bar!!’
Our Aerie/Auxiliary Cookbook project is nearing to a close. We sold lots of books at our Holiday Bazaar. The winner of the drawing for a free cookbook was Kathryn Lorus. We made several recipes from the book to give out as samples and had lots of fun! A great big thank you to Linda Miller for helping with cooking and serving out the samples of recipes from our cookbook and a special thanks to Debbie Semler and Marlene Thompson for helping out at the cookbook table As of the date of this article, we have less than 65 books remaining of our original order of 550! If you are still looking for that something special to give as a Christmas gift, look no further! Loni Andrews, our Club Manager, has a supply of cookbooks. See her if you want to buy one! The cost is $15 and all proceeds go to charity! — Yvonne Brown, Cookbook Chairman (253) 841-8584

Hello Aerie Brothers and Auxiliary Sisters! We, the Aerie Trustees, would like to thank all of you for your continued patronage in the bar and dining room during the bar reconstruction. It’s a difficult time for all of us, especially our bar staff, so your patience is appreciated. The problems with the bar floor have been coming on for years now! Please contribute to the “fix the bar” fund as much as you can so that we can retire this debt as soon as possible. We are selling buttons, having raffles, etc. Also, if any of the internal clubs can help with a donation from your club fund, it would be greatly appreciated, as well. After all, the club belongs to all of us! Don’t forget, New Year’s Eve tickets are on sale now! There will be prime rib dinner with all the fixings, plus party favors and two free drink tickets — all for the low cost of $30 for singles and $50 per couple. The theme for the party is “Blast from the Past!” Clothing from any era is welcomed or just casual dress will be fine. See Loni for tickets. We hope to see you here! Thanks again, — Your Aerie Board of Trustees

Texas Hold’em Tournament of Champions set for Sunday, December 12 The players came out in full force — 131 — and the challenge was on at our November 14 Texas Hold’em game. There was construction going on and our playing space was smaller, but all in all things went pretty well. Thank you players for all your cooperation. The November winners were: First, Cleveland Jackson; second, Rosemary Hopkins; third, Roberta Roberts; fourth, Craig Hardin; fifth Don Janeway; sixth, Scott LaJoye; seventh, Sharon Stacey; eighth, Troy Fisk; and ninth, Laurie Garman. They shared a pot of $3,275. Wow! Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped us.
Volunteers are special. The “Tournament of Champions” is on Sunday, December 12. Check in time starts at noon with the shuffling of the cards at 1 p.m. This game is for winners and qualifiers only. No money will be taken in that day. Players, you must have your current paid up Eagles card to play in the championship game. You are invited to come down and support your players and your Aerie. Also, thanks to the Aerie for all your help during the games. — Bob Reynolds, Chairman
