Raffle to support youth Daffodil Auxiliary will hold a meat and movie basket raffle Saturday evening, March 31 to support our State Youth/Junior Eagles! This group of young people is our Eagles future! They depend on Aeries and Auxiliaries throughout the state of Washington to help fund their annual convention in June of each year. It is really important to support them, as we do our own youth within our club. The band playing that same evening is Just Cuz, a local youth band which usually opens for Sunny s 4 Cast. They were a huge hit with everyone last January! W hope to see you all here to support our kids! Robin Sheffer, Auxiliary Youth Chairman

Our ladies Auxiliary has already collected ore than $2,000, so the Aerie has some catching up to do. Come on down and enjoy an early start to your St. Patrick s Day celebration. Maybe we ll even have some green beer. Thanks. Your Aerie Pope s Kids Chairman

Pull the Cork on Cancer
Thanks for your help I want to take this time to offer everyone who helped with our big Wine Tasting a heartfelt thank you! We worked really hard on this, trying to raise as much money as possible for the Auxiliary Cancer Fund and you all made it happen. So many of us are touched in some way by this dreaded disease, and every little bit we can do to help someone s family here in our own community helps to show that the Eagles care! I hope everyone who purchased a ticket got more than they expected. It was a lot of fun to help plan and put this event into action but I sure could not have done it without the help of so many great Eagle Brothers and Sisters. A special thanks go out to my husband, Bob, for his patience, and my daughter, Carrie, for her help with the tickets and signs. I love you all!! Thank you again. Shireen Ainsworth, Auxiliary Cancer Chairman

Raffles, paddle wheel are coming to #2308!! This year we plan to have raffles before the Sunday drawing. We will start out with two a month. We are in the process of putting together paddle wheel. It is a fun game and I think it will be good for the Aerie. Smokers as mentioned in the last newsletter, please use the designated area on the north side of the building. State law is that you be 25 feet from any door. Please keep this area clean. We would like to thank the person or persons for the new benches. They are much better than what was there. Trustee meetings are on Wednesdays starting at 6 p.m. We meet upstairs above the bathrooms. The first 30 minutes or so is set aside for the manager. After that anyone is welcome to come up and talk to us with whatever is bothering you. You can also just watch. If you do not wish to come up there is a suggestion box on the wall between the bathrooms. Please remember, do not go into the coolers or freezers unless you are asked. If you ordered something from Loni, please get it from her or one of the staff.

Daffodil Roamers News
There was plenty of sun & fun at Pacific Beach! The Daffodil Roamers had their first outing for 2012 at Pacific Beach. It just amazes me how fortunate we are every February with fantastic weather.!!!!! We were not disappointed again this year with blue skies and warm sunshine. We were able to take leisurely walks on the beach to pick up shells and driftwood or stroll into town to snoop through the antique stores, bakeries, and whatnot shops for treasures that needed a new home. We had our usual potluck with lots of great food and followed up with a movie or cards later in the evening. Sunday you found the group in the local lounge watching the Super Bowl game, enjoying a cold one and a pizza or burger. A few of us even ventured over to Ocean Shores to try our luck with the slots and gaming tables. In March we will be at the Teamsters Resort on Harstene Island. This is always a favorite of many in our group. The setting is so picturesque with Puget Sound and Mount Rainier that you just can’t help but have your camera in you possession at all times. My favorite part is when we barbeque the oysters with butter and pesto and make a big pot of clam chowder for everyone to enjoy while standing around the fire pits. We have such a wonderful commander within our group that it’s just like having an extended family. April’s trip is to Rest-A-While Resort in Hoodsport and in May we are going to Winthrop for the Packer’s Days and fishing at Perrygin Lake (State Park). If any of these events tickle your fancy, please come join us. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the hall above the restaurant at the Puyallup Daffodil

This and that. . . GREAT JOB AERIE During the months of November and December, 2011, the Aerie received 51 applications for re-enrollment or new membership. At the Aerie meeting on January 25, we had 38 new members initiated into the Aerie. In January the Aerie was fifth in the nation in new and re-enrolled members. That is a great start. Now we need to keep it up. Membership numbers have gone down over the last year. We currently have about 100 members less than we had a year ago. Each member needs to try and get one new member every year. Remember, the first year’s membership is free to all police officers, firefighters, EMT’s, and honorably discharged military personnel.
NEWSLETTER We would like to decrease the number of news letters that we sent via the US Postal Service. Currently we are spending about 75 cents per copy to print and mail out the newsletter. You can get the newsletter on our web site at www.2308.foe.com. The advantage of the web version is that it will be in color, you will get it earlier and it saves the Aerie money. This would cut down on the cost of the newsletter. If you currently get your newsletter via the mail and still want to, you need to do nothing. If you cannot get the newsletter on the web and are not getting it in the mail, please contact the Aerie office or e-mail us at aerie2308@gmail.com.

Brothers & Sisters of Daffodil Aerie Thank you so much for your heartfelt donations in the way of money, volunteering your time and your continuing support of our club. Together the Aerie and Auxiliary worked together to sell hearts, have a fun Heart Ball, and a great heart-healthy meal to raise money for The Heart Fund. You all made this a successful event. Brother Tom Faust and his loverly new bride Donna made the trek over to be our official judges for the Heart Ball. Thank you Tom and Donna for supporting our club. A big thank you to the Gregory family for their many hours of volunteer time in making this event not only successful, but a fun family project. — Sincerely, Bernie Gregory — Aerie Heart Fund Chairperson Cathy Mahan — Auxiliary Heard Fund Chairperson

Coups for Troops
Donate your coupons to military families! Do you get the newspaper on Sundays and toss the coupons or maybe you’re just an avid couponer? Don’t toss those old expired coupons! Donate them to our military families serving overseas! The overseas commissaries allow troops and their families to utilize our stateside coupons for up to six months after the expiration date. Many families overseas appreciate the small gestures of coupons to help alleviate the high costs of food overseas. So bring your expired coupons or coupons you know you won’t use down to the Eagles. A box will be set up to put them in. Please keep the following in mind when donating coupons: • 1. The coupons may not be more than six months old.
Coupons that are one or two months expired or newer are best. • 2. Donate manufacture coupons only — no store specific coupons. • 3. There is no need to separate them. Just bring what you have and put them in the box. Currently we have a military base we’ll be sending coupons to, but if you know of another family serving overseas, please feel free to submit their name and APO address to me via email: crystaljordan@live.com. Please email me with questions or ask the Club Manager Loni. Thank you! — Crystal Jordan, Operation Eagle Chairperson
