Happy r! ea January New Y From Your Worthy President

With Eagle Spirit, we can rise and soar again Happy New Year to all our Brothers and Sisters across the Eagle Nation! If you are reading this, we have obviously survived the End-of the-World (or at least the party on December 21!) It is time then to look toward the new year. Do so with confidence, for, despite the challenges ahead, know that the Spirit of the Nation and the Spirit of the Eagle is such that no obstacle is insurmountable. As we set our goals, make our resolutions, and plan our year, keep in mind that we do not do so alone. We step boldly forward into the unknown side by side with our fellow Eagles, supported by the Spirit of those Brothers and Sisters long (and not so long) gone, and with the knowledge of all the great deeds and accomplishments of the past. If we all put a fraction of the effort of our past Eagles into the efforts of the future, the Eagles shall rise and soar again. Dave Andrews, Worthy President

After three visits, guests must become members! To all member and guests: Many of you may have seen the sign on the front counter of our foyer that basically says: Guests of Members may visit up to three times then must become members. Because we have such a large membership base, it is hard to keep track of this. Beginning in January, we will have a list of all guests who have visited our Aerie since the beginning of 2012. There will be volunteers posted at the front door with these names as they are signed in as guests. If your guest has already reached their maximum number of visits, they will not be allowed to be signed in as a guest unless they fill out a membership application and we receive payment. Brothers and Sisters, our Aerie is dependent on our membership base and the income it generates. Please help us to keep our Aerie healthy by not bringing your friends/guests in unless they are members after the first three visits. Thank you. Yvonne Brown, Auxiliary Membership Chairman Gary Plumb, Aerie Membership Chairman

Texas Hold’em

Silver takes the gold at Champions event! The 2012 Tournament of Champions was like a Christmas party. We had a lot going on besides the game. It was Jerry and Rosemary Hopkins’ 45th wedding anniversary and John Gallagher’s birthday. Age — ??? Thank you players for the ton of gifts, food and money that you so willingly gave to the Puyallup Food Bank to help those less fortunate at this time of year. Ted Staab was back with us following his knee surgery. He is doing well. We wish Paul Morgan the best with his back surgery which was scheduled for just before Christmas. Bubba Skiles has had a little set back and we wish him a speedy recovery, along with Bob Newberg who has had better days. Blessings to all of you. Winners are: First, Haven Silver; second, Paul Thomas, Jr.; third, Johnny Gallagher; fourth, David Dale; fifth, Rick Zimmerman; sixth, Tim Miller; seventh, Bill Roberts; eighth, Larry Larsen; and ninth, Pam Bell. The armored car was not available to escort

you home. Congratulations to the winners and also to those not so lucky. However, you are all winners in our hearts. Remember we have a new start time for the year 2013. Shuffling of the cards is 12:30 and sign-in is 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. See you on Sunday, January 13, 2013. We’re looking forward to another great year of Texas Hold’em at the biggest Aerie this side of the Mississippi River. Thank you volunteers Judy Haley, Dona Knox, Rich and Susan Adams, Sean Monday, Kathy Buse, Cathy Williams and all you great players who step in and help with chip up and the other miscellaneous jobs. We could not do it without all your help. Thanks! — Bob Reynolds and the Texas Hold’em Team (253) 535-6706
