From Your Madam President

Let’s have a Mickey Mouse kind of year! June is here and hopefully we will have lots of sun. Let me introduce myself. I am Loni Andrews, the new Madam Auxiliary President for the ensuing year, and also your Aerie Manager. I have been Madam President twice before, so here we go again. The reason I am here for the third year is the new Aerie President is my husband Dave. We have great plans for our Aerie Brothers and Sisters. I am excited for this year, with a lot of mousing around. Please, Sisters, come to our meetings. We have a lot of fun. We meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of most months. This month is one exception. We will meet on Thursday, June 7, as the following week we will be in Yakima at the Washington State Eagles Convention. We are always looking for volunteers, so please don’t hesitate to ask. Remember, laughter is the best kind of medicine, So let’s have a “Mickey Mouse” year and make some laughs. — Loni Andrews, Your Madam President

Peanut butter, a lot of food & cash head to our food bank!! Brothers and Sisters, thank you all for the donations throughout the year for our food bank. We have turned in more than 750 pounds of food and have donated almost $850 in cash to the food bank — along with 280 jars of peanut butter. Thank you so very much. — Mike Andrews Loni Andrews, Chairmen

From Your Aerie President

2012-13 is a year of great possibilities!! Brothers and Sisters, it is an honor to address you as your 2012-13 Worthy President. First I would like to thank all my Chair Officers who stepped up to fill all available positions. I also would like to thank my friends and family for all of their support over the years. Without them, I would not be where I am today. The coming year holds great possibilities for our Fraternity. This year I would stress that we work together toward the greater good of our Order, putting aside differences and quarrels that tend to weaken the strong foundation of this great organization. If we can work together, united in the ideals of this Order, we can make the Puyallup Eagles a place we can all enjoy, today and for many years to come. I look forward to meeting more of you and making new friends in the year to come and beyond. — Sincerely, Dave Andrews, Worthy President

Golfers enjoy their Spring Fling tourney

Sisters, you did it! We made quota for the year. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. Without you, we couldn’t have done it. Our total 188 new Auxiliary Sisters. To you Sisters who have proposed a new Sister for membership, please see me to get your awards. Some of you have received them, but I still have some awards. You all rocked this year and made it happened. Twice this year we were third in the nation for bringing in new Sisters. Please keep up the support for next year’s Membership Chairman. — Loni Andrews, Membership Chairman

We had great weather this year for the “Spring Fling Golf Tournament” at Desert Canyon Golf Course in Orondo. Tournament Chairman Mike Stone came injured, so the field was 21 Duffers. For all the games we change to 3-man teams. Here’s the results: • Saturday — First Place: Rick Daf fodi l Carlson, Ron D uf fers Johnson and Jim Collyer. Second Place: Bob Farnam, Paul Eckhardt and Denny Wakin. Third Place Tied. A: Larry Schneider, Scott Hatt and Bill Ide. B: Bill Bostwick, Dave Helle and Don Proctor. • Sunday — First Place: Dave Helle, Phil Matison and Don Proctor. Second Place: Roy Miller, Bill Bostwick and Jeff Marlow. Third Place Tied. A: Jim Collyer, Milo White and Don Wakin. B: John Pfaff, Jerry Hopkins and Denny Wakin. On behalf of all the Daffodil Duffers, a big thank you goes to Mike Stone for all his work putting together a fun tournament. Okay, now we get ready for our Club Championship. Tournament Chairmen Bill Bostwick and Jerry Rohrs have announced this year it will be held in Bremerton at Gold Mountain Golf Course on July 21 and 22. For those who need one more practice round, we will have one on July 20 at White Horse Golf course in Kingston. More details next month. “If you’re afraid a full shot might reach the green while the foursome ahead of you is still putting out, you have two options: You can immediately shank a lay-up, or you can wait until the green is clear and top a ball halfway there.” — Milo

Thanks for another great Easter Egg Hunt in 2012 I would like to thank all the people who helped make the children’s Easter egg hunt a success. The weather was great and all the feed back was positive. We would also like to thank Target and Dollar Tree for their donations. Thanks again — Sue Hansen

Terry and Fred are the ace repairmen at Eagle Valley In early May, two Daffodil Aerie Brothers, Terry Howard and Fred Sheppard, refurbished and repainted our Aerie’s mini golf station at Eagle Valley near Cle Elum. Thanks Terry and Fred! — Karleen Howard Auxiliary Eagle Valley Chairman

Daffodil Roamers News

RV’ers are hot to trot and heading south! Now that the weather is starting to get warmer we are really getting “hot to trot” with our camping trips. We had a great time over in the Methow Valley enjoying the Packer’s Day festivities in Winthrop, and fishing for three days at Perrygin State Park. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer time. Our hosts, Yvonne and Gordy Anderson, have a beautiful vacation home that has plenty of space for 20-plus rigs. The view in the valley is always spectacular with Sun Mountain Lodge just up above their home. In June we will be traveling to the southern part of our state to Woodland. Here we will stay at a wellmaintained resort called Columbia River RV Resort. We will be there from June 14-17. The surrounding area has just a ton of things to go see and enjoy such as the Hulda Kagar Lilac Garden, several museums, Port of Woodland, Horseshoe Lake and Park, the Cedar Creek Grist Mill and Fort Vancouver, to name but a few places.

This month’s Hold’em on Sunday, June 10th!! Well players, I am writing this letter before the game because the newsletter deadline is the 15 of every month. I will put the winners of both games in the letter next month. Jamie Stenwick should have had her baby girl by now. Congratulations to Justin and Jami. We were hoping to see Ray Helgath at the May Texas Hold’em as he should be back from Costa Rica. We hope to welcome Kathy Buse back to our team as she has been ill. Remember players that we need your continued support of the game in order to keep it going. We’ve been accused of not putting our smoke butts in the designated containers, so please put them where they belong. I will explain at the game. All our next games should fall on the second Sunday of the month. We are sorry that we aren’t able to have every game the same weekend, but we do not play on Easter or Mothers’ Day out of respect. Our next game is Sunday, June 10, so please bring yourself and a friend or two to share in the fun. — Bob Reynolds, (253) 535-6706 or (253) 230-2308

Some of us will travel east from Woodland to Hoods River and Stevenson for the Blues, Brew and BBQ Festival, while others will return home. I hope I am enticing you to think about joining our group and come see the sights for yourself. Our monthly meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. We love to see new faces. — Sincerely, Sheron Mozzone, Secretary, Daffodil Roamers RV Club

Funeral Luncheon Chair can use more of your help Thank you Brothers and Sister for your invaluable help with the memorial luncheons. We could not have done it without you. This year Joan and I asked families for food donations and they were very receptive. We didn’t have to always come to you for donations. Whenever we needed help, you always showed up with your sleeves rolled up. I am in the process of compiling a list of members so we can get more people involved in this very special event we do for our members. Please call me at (253) 495-9739 and I’ll put you down to help. Remember, you need a health card. Go to www.foodworkercard.wa.gov to take the test online. The test takes about 45 minutes and you can print your card. Sign it and bring a copy to the Aerie. Thanks to Bob and Clif for all the meat and cheese trays and the potatoes. We appreciate your help. We are looking forward to serving the Brothers and Sister for the next the year. Thanks. — Linda Miller, Funeral Luncheon Chairman
