From Your Worthy President
After 32 years, Leonard is back as our President Brothers and Sisters, First, congratulations to Junior Past Worthy President Dave Andrews. You had a great year and you are one of the best at ritual in many years. Well here we go again. I was your Worthy President 32 years ago and am going to try it again to see if I can get it right. We’re going to try some new things. First is a planning committee chaired by Dave Andrews. The idea of this is to plan ahead for future events so we don’t have any last minute surprises. If you have an idea for some future event, please get a hold of Dave or myself. We are going to have a new Auditor. Past State President John Noldan, who is also the State Aerie Auditor, will be auditing our books. John is also in charge of training for the State Aerie this year and I hope to have him doing some officer and trustee training in the near future. There are still two chairmanships open. We need a Sick Visitation Chairman. This consists of sending cards to Eagle members who are ailing and/or family members of Eagles whom we have lost. The Aerie Secretary will give you names and addresses and you will be reimbursed for purchase of cards. We also need a Picnic Chairman for the 2014 Aerie Picnic. Please contact me if you are interested in either of these important jobs. We are also starting a meeting attendance drawing. See the article and rules on page 6 of this newsletter. See Worthy President on Page 2
75th Anniversary a success thanks to you Thanks to Bonnie Munce for submitting the winning logo entry and to Garry Morris for the winning motto entry. Though the 75th Anniversary Committee altered them both slightly, the winners both received $50 gift certificates good at the Aerie. If they have not received them at the time of this printing please contact the Aerie manager. As of this writing (Sunday, May 19) we are half way through our Anniversary Week. The “Old Timers” night went well. Thanks to the Auxiliary for preparing and serving the meal and for the delicious homemade pies. Our Western Night also went well. We earned $357 for our charities and the “get out of jail free” cards were popular. Thanks to Yvonne Brown and her crew, Saturday’s open house was a huge success and we signed up many Aerie and Auxiliary members. Thanks to our Club Manager Loni for all of her hard work during the week and thanks to all of the committee members: Ellen Blakely, Jim Centoni, Yvonne Brown, Clif and Phyllis Dickson, and Bob and Shireen Ainsworth. — Leonard Blakely, 75th Anniversary Chairman

Meat raffle raises $227 for State FOE Museum
A new Eagle year and new officers welcomed
Thank to everyone who donated and/or participated in the Meat Raffle held on May 10 to raise money for the Washington State Eagles Museum in Chehalis. Thanks to all of you, we raised $227 to donate to the museum. If you get a chance, check out the museum adjacent to the Eagles Aerie in Chehalis. Thanks again! — Myrna Sheppard & Karleen Howard, Co-Chairs
Hello Eagle Sisters and Brothers! I’m excited to be back once again to serve as your Madam President for this 2013-2014 year! I am also excited to be serving alongside Worthy President (and Past State President) Leonard Blakely. One of my goals this year is to get more participation from Sisters who tell me that they usually wouldn’t “volunteer,” but would like to be “asked” to help out — so watch out! I will be coming to ask for help! Auxiliary meetings for June will be on the 6th (moved up one week due to State Convention) and 27th. I really hope to see new faces at the meetings this year! Working together and having fun while raising money for charities is what it’s all about! — Robin Sheffer, Madam President
Daffodil Roamers News
Daffodil Roamers are really on the go
From Your Worthy President
Daffodil Roamers are on the move. We are ready to embark on our Annual Long Trip the middle of this month. We’ve got Ephrata, Lincoln’s 50,000 Silver $ Casino, Ennis, Miles City and Scobey on our schedule, not to mention side trips to Yellowstone National Park, Custer’s Battleground, Mt, Rushmore, and the Badlands. Museums and stops along the way that peak our interest are included. We will be good and tired when we get back the first week of July, only to take off after a short rejuvenating to the Hoquiam River RV Park at the end of July to enjoy mid-summer activities along the ocean. We will be on to Eagle Valley in August with a perfect hill to fly kites and a stream to cool your feet. Come play with us. We’d love to have you check us out. Remember, you have to be a member of the Aerie to participate and we wholly encourage you think about being a part of our diversified group. — Lea Lampitt, Secretary, Daffodil Roamers
Let’s revive a good Ritual Team at 2308 Continued From Page 1 Best of luck to Robin Sheffer as she leads the Auxiliary this year. We are emphasizing teamwork with the Aerie and Auxiliary working together as well as the Aerie officers working together. Lastly I would like to bring a good ritual team back to the Aerie. We will begin regular ritual practice at the end of summer with PWP Jonas White as our coach. Please remember I have impaired vision. If you say “hi” to me and I don’t respond, please don’t think I am ignoring you. I probably didn’t see or hear you. That’s what happens when you get an old guy back as Worthy President. — Fraternally, Leonard Blakely, WP 2013-2014

Eagle Riders take off at Daffodil 2308 Hello Brothers and Sisters. On May 15 we held the first meet and greet for interested members. We discussed the many issues that need to be covered for the Grand Aerie with the State Riders Representative. If you are interested or just curious, all that’s needed is to be a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. We will be meeting again on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.to work on the by-laws and officers needed. After all issues are finalized and approved, we can start to discuss group activities and charities in the future. No motorcycle, No problem! Cars are welcome. Remember, we’re here to promote the Eagles and getting together for a good safe and fun ride. — Brother Jonas White
Drill Team takes first! The Ballard Drill Team that come to work on our Oyster Dinners at the Puyallup Eagles took first place in the All City Drill Team Competition in Seattle. They went up against nine other teams. They said without Daffodil’s support, they would not be able to attend all these contests. They want to let everyone know they feel they are a part of us. Great job, girls! — Ellen Blakely
