Food and travel have always been inextricably linked. Our earliest memories of travel always had something to do with food: that buko pie you’ve always associated with trips to Laguna, the wealth of mangoes that always come after a trip from your parent’s province. or even the macapuno candy you made your ate buy you on the bus. Our remembrance of places will always have something to do with the tastes we’ll associate them with.
Let’s Eat’s annual travel issue has always delved deeper into the relationship between food and travel, be it how chefs incorporate their inspiration from a certain dish that held them captive in a certain city elsewhere, or how someone can call a city their second home simply because of the unforgettable meals they’ve had.
In this issue, read about an unusual camping trip, a love letter to the tastes and sights of Hong Kong, and two interviews with renowned chefs and how their travels have served as inspiration.
