Set in the heart of the Trelowarren Estate is a spacious and bright gallery home of the Lizard Art co-operative; a group of professional artists working in various media and styles, all sharing an enthusiasm for living and working in and around this stunning landscape, the Lizard peninsular. Exciting seascapes, striking abstracts, evocative landscapes, woodcuts and cyanotypes with a new addition of beautiful crafts from local makers. Their new illustrated book ‘Lizard Uncovered’ which celebrates all the members work is on sale at the gallery throughout the season from now until November. Visitors are welcomed by the by the artists themselves, who oversee the gallery and will share their enthusiasm about their work and those from the group.

THE LIZARD PENINSULA

A land filled with treasures, from hidden coves with cerulean seas to wild flower meadows and stunning coast paths, the Lizard Peninsula is a jewel in the crown of Cornwall’s landscapes and it’s no wonder so many artists congregate here to be inspired. Discover a range of events, artists, off grid galleries and contemporary craft form the creative collectives based in this unique peninsula. See the stunning rock formations of Kynance Cove, catch some rays at Poldhu Cove, learn about the Lizard’s rich heritage at the Lizard Lighthouse and Heritage Centre.

COAST COLOUR CANVAS

Since the opening of Coast Colour Canvas back in July, nestled in the original Roskilly’s ice-cream parlour, the gallery has been a great success. Alongside resident artists Jenny Field, Fiona Foster and Janet Golden, there has been an array of both established and emerging artists showcasing their work as part of their guest artist programme, including Maureen Cunningham, Sarah Trewhella, Lizzie Brown. Artists change weekly and with original paintings, prints and cards there is something for everyone.

Her regular sea swims provide constant inspiration for her delicate, expressive paintings on wood panel and canvas; each exploring the sensory experiences of immersion in wild nature, in particular the sea. Her most recent collection focuses on the soothing depth and stillness of rock pools, and is currently available exclusively via her website.
