NEW FINDS
LUKE KNIGHT
Rising new artist Luke Knight was raised in Cornwall, studied Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art and Design, and now works from his studio just outside Truro. Last autumn his Cornish landscape painting ‘Wish You Were Here’ won the prestigious Barcelona International Gallery Awards in Spain, a prize which includes European gallery representation and a coveted summer 2020 solo exhibition at CAGE Gallery, Barcelona. That, and his talent for creating perfectly composed, exquisitely coloured, almost blissfully beautiful landscape works makes him one of Cornwall’s hottest and most collectable new painters.

SUE WATT
Having produced an exceptional body of work during a year of study on the Porthmeor Programme at St Ives School of Painting, artist Sue Watt held her first exhibition at St Ives’ Penwith Gallery this spring. The collages, video installations and impressive large-scale paintings from her ‘Spinning on Porthmeor’ collection explore interactions between herself and her son Tom, who was born with complex disabilities, using a handmade spinner toy. This unique and deeply human subject, and her astute understanding of the emotive power of scale, shape, colour and line, make her one of the most promising new artists for 2020.
