Welcome to the Mycreativeimages Magazine Featured artists

This month, like many people across the world, I find myself restricted as to where I can go and what I can do, and rightly so. Finding new ways to stimulate the creative mind is challenging but essential and I hope that this magazine goes a little way to help you spend some quality time at home. The sole purpose of this magazine is to showcase photo digital artwork from emerging and established artists from the UK and Europe. Artists showcase their work in the magazine at no cost and have a link one of their social media pages, blogs or websites. So, if you enjoy what you see here reach out to the artist and share the links to this magazine far and wide so more people can enjoy it!

Hello! I’m Bernie and I live in the little seaside town of Margate and having lived here all my life, I couldn’t live anywhere else now! I’m continually inspired by the scenery here, with skies and light that so excited famous artist J.W.Turner, who said of this area, “…the skies over Thanet are the loveliest in all Europe”. Apparently, a love of the sea stayed with him all his life and I can well understand that! Painting with light holds a real attraction for me - the gentle light that is still strong enough to dispel darkness. I’ve always been arty, progressing from childhood sketching, through gouache and then oil painting, then paper crafting and scrapbooking which led me to digital scrapbooking and finally to Sebastian Michaels and Photo Artistry. Now I feel I’m home and am having so much fun with my art! If you would like to see some more of my art visit: https://www.facebook.com/bernadette.tuffs

Hello my name’s Vivien and I’m from the beautiful county of Kent, England though currently living on the coast near Rome in delightful Italy with its exciting, lively way of life and vibrant colours and designs. I started out as an artist in 1982 developing Indian ink artwork of a variety of subjects especially figurative artwork and abstract floral designs, then progressed into creative photography and digital artistry thanks to Sebastian Michael’s amazing courses at ‘Photoshop Artistry’ and the advanced courses ‘Awake’ and ‘Kaizen’. My inspiration is drawn from my love of nature, figurative artwork and Italian design using many textures, patterns and colours. I’m thrilled to have some of my artwork in various publications including: Living the Photo Artistic Life, My Creative Images and have had various artworks mentioned in the Shift Art Challenge and was thrilled to win the challenge with a piece called ‘The Mysterious Cobbled Street’ in 2018. Now in 2020 I am concentrating on a series of Fresco-style Art taking my inspiration from Italian Frescos. This involves a lot of patterns, swirls, designs and colours and adding them to the model. Most of my models are from my Photoshop Artistry and Awake courses and the Colby Files. If you would like to see more of my art: https://vivien-jane-c.pixels.com/

Claude Trew I am a retired lady who is a keen photographer and I belong to a local camera club. However, while I enjoy entering the competitions organised by the club, I feel that the style of photographs that are most successful in club competitions is inhibiting my creative output. I am following some online courses to try to improve the artist in me. So far I have enjoyed every course I have done and hope to share my work with a bigger audience. This is an ongoing process.

Julie Cowdy

My Cr e a t i v e I ma g e s – B e h i n d t he scenes by VivienJane

Julie’s photographic artwork covers many different genres including …narrative, still life and flowers. and is best described in her own words: ‘My favourite type of artwork is…a combination of the camera lens and fine art. We have asked Julie to share some of her creative processes with our readers: -----

Do you consider yourself to be more a photographer or a photo artist? I am definitely a PhotoArtist! Traditional photography is too limiting for me. With the creative possibilities of photoartistry, the only limitation is my imagination. -----

When did you first start out in photography and photo art? About ten years ago I progressed from simply taking snapshots, to being more aware of how to compose and process a

good photograph. I lost my mojo in 2017 and nearly gave up, then my husband told me my unique talent was in combining my art with my photography and since then I’ve never looked back. -----

Do you make any of your own resources apart from photographs? I make collages, and paint on paper or canvas to create textured backgrounds. -----

Have you been influenced by other photographers or digital artists? I’ve learnt my technical skills from Sebastian Michaels’ online courses and been inspired by others in the Awake group and the artistic photography of Steve Le Prevost. -----

Do you already have a basic idea or story in mind when you start creating a new piece? Sometimes a photo that I’ve taken prompts an idea, as in the case of ‘Uncharted Waters’, which became part of a series based on a child as she grows up. At other times I get an idea first and then set the composition up, as in ‘Yorkshire Cottages’. -----

Can you tell us a bit about your creative process and routine? I get inspiration from an item, image or theme, then I gather or make resources, collect or take photos, and begin to build up a layered composite image.

Could you tell us about the equipment and software you use and which item is indispensable in your studio? I mostly use my Sony Alpha 7Rii. For flowers, my preferred lens is a 90mm Macro and for still life I use my 24-70mm lens. I set up a mini studio in the kitchen with a light box, which is indispensable, and my Benro tripod. I start the processing in Lightroom them go to Photoshop for the compositing. -----

What are you working on at the moment & is there anything in particular that you would like to learn? I’m working towards a portfolio entitled ‘Fruits of the Earth’, inspired by historical botanical art. I need to learn how to use my Wacom graphics tablet and pen instead of relying upon my track pad and index finger! -----

What would your advice be to an aspiring photographer/ digital photo artist? I got a lot of support and advice by joining a local camera club, learnt the PhotoArt techniques by joining an online course and get inspiration and an outlet for my work by joining an online community, like SheCliks for women photographers. Julie puts a lot of passion into her projects and produces stunning photo art. You can contact her via her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Julie-CowdyPhotography-640242869458291/

David Walker

https://www.vista-foto.com/

One of the joys for the PhotoArtist is the hours and days spent taking photographs of subjects which will one day become an theme of a piece of PhotoArt. With the advent of digital photography, photographers can try out a lot more ideas, like when using film when we had to remember and take into account of the costs of each image taken. There was the added problem of the wait to see our results in print. Certainly a different world today! One such day was spent at Robin Hood’s Bay a small fishing village and a bay located in the North York Moors National Park, on the coast of North Yorkshire, England. The town, which consists of a maze of tiny streets, has an ancient tradition of smuggling, and there is reputed to be a network of subterranean passageways linking the houses. Tea, gin, rum, brandy and tobacco were among the contraband smuggled into Yorkshire from The Netherlands and France to avoid the duty. A far cry from the modern day tax evasion in places such as the Cayman Islands! I was wandering down one of the wider streets (just wide enough for a small car) and was accosted by a native, asking what I was doing. I explained and he showed me a small gate and told me if I climbed up the steep slope between the houses I would arrive at his garden and be rewarded by some of the best views of and in the village. A wonderful gesture from a kind person and one which made my day at Robin Hood’s Bay a very special occasion. These pictures tell the story.

Norma Slack

I am a digital artist, writer and poet from beautiful Northern Ireland. I currently live in County Down, within sight of the majestic Mourne Mountains. I have been an enthusiastic photographer for many years but it was only when I discovered digital art that I finally felt able to create images that reflected both my emotions and vision. Every day I work towards improving my skills within the fascinating world of the digital workspace. For me it’s a place of magic, a place where I can give free reign to my imagination and create the type of art I feel connected to. About eighteen months ago I began to combine my new digital skills with my poetry and have recently published my first illustrated poetry book, Thunder In My Soul: a collection of illustrated poems. The book is now available at Amazon. It is a project I feel a strong emotional connection to and has been a labour of love. A free sample, along with a selection of my art, can be viewed on my website. You will also find me on Instagram @artbynormasue or on my Website

Esta Moon Artistry

https://estamoonartistry.art.blog

I retired in 2017 and am able to spend my time doing all the things I enjoy. I am a hobby photographer and particularly enjoy going to nature reserves with my cameras hunting for bugs. I am trying to learn more about birds but bugs will always be my love. I have always enjoyed playing about with my photos and after taking part in some challenges in a 365 photo project, I was told about the Photoshop artistry course. I signed up not long before I retired and in the following January, I also signed up for the AWAKE course. I found myself getting interested in creating things to use in my photoart and this reawakened my love of multi media art and I have been concentrating more on that recently. Going into the new decade, I want to bring my photography, photoart and multi media art together and to do that I have decided to do both bullet and art journals. I have also started a new blog on Wordpress which I hope to do regular updates on. There are links on there to my other social media accounts and also to the two places where I intended to put work on so that it is available to purchase. Esta Moon Artistry is the name I will be using going into the new decade. I hope that you will follow my journey. - https://estamoonartistry.art.blog

James Hurley

www.jameshurley.art

James is a photo digital artist that captures landscapes photographs as well as painterly portraits either in the comfort of his home or on location. He is based in Huntingdon, near Cambridge, and has a passion for incorporating his emotions and frustrations into surreal artwork. James is a self-taught photographer who has learnt Photoshop by taking a number of online courses hosted by Sebastian Michaels. His current focus is to further explore and enhance his photography skills and further develop his own photo digital artistic style which can incorporate lots of colour and textures employing a Chiaro-oscuro style but also a darker monochromatic approach, as with his self-portrait series shown in last months magazine and won a Special recognition award from the Light, Space & Time gallery. The aim is to produce artwork and photographs that lean more towards a painterly or surreal feel than a realistic photograph. During March a number of James’s fine art landscape photographs were incorporated into the website https:// the-estate.co.uk/, Patterdale Hall Estate, which he describes as his go to place to recharge his creative mind. If you are looking for a portrait photograph or want a photograph of you blended into a scene / artwork or just want some unique artwork to decorate your home or give as a gift, get in contact with James, who would be happy to work with you and create something special just for you. Patterdale 2018

Help Me Plant Trees! I took this photograph in October this year on Patterdale Hall Estate (PHE), Ullswater. This is a small section of a waterfall that runs through private land actively managed with the help of many volunteers. If it was possible, I would be there helping the conservation work every weekend, but sadly its not. So instead, I will donate 50% of the profits made from the sale of any of my Ullswater based photoart to PHE to help them plant trees and continue the amazing conservation work they do on the estate.
