Shuffling Shows

Each year Branson takes part in what has become known as the “Branson Shuffle.” The Branson Shuffle happens when shows change their venue.

For the 2023 season, as of press time, here are the moves: The Magic of Rick Thomas: Mansion of Dreams has moved back to Mickey Gilley Grand Shanghai Theatre. Daniel O’Donnell moves his limited engagement show to the Mansion Theater. All Hands on Deck has moved to the Copeland Theater. The Sons Music Celebration, Absolutely Country & Definitely Gospel, The Best of Sedaka Songbook, and The Blackwoods have all moved to Jerry Presley’s God & Country Theaters. The Best of Motown and More has moved to the Americana Theatre. Dalena Ditto has moved her show, Country Evolution, to the Hughes Brothers Theatre.

Queen Esther

When Sight and Sound debuts a new show in Branson, it’s a big deal. Why, might you ask? For one, Branson is the only place you can see this original show in the entire world. Second, Sight and Sound has taken the theater experience to a whole new level with sets, costumes, and an amazing cast that will leave you in amazement. Queen Esther is scheduled to run through October 2024. You don’t want to miss it!

Other New Shows

As of press time here are other new shows scheduled to debut in 2023 in Branson:

The Shepherd of the Hills debuts three new shows in 2023, including Million Dollar Quartet Dinner Show which returns to Branson. New in Fall of 2023,

Goldwing Express Morning Show, and a limited engagement of the Jim Stafford Dinner Show will add to the mix.

The Copeland Theater located at the Branson Meadows Factory Shoppes has several new shows for guests to experience. David Brooks, best known for his award winning role in The Million Dollar Quartet, brings it again in The Hits featuring David Brooks, a fast moving show of hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. David Brooks also stars in On Fire: The Jerry Lee Lewis Story. David is Branson’s favorite piano man performer. Come experience a celebration of the life and music of American pop legend Ray Charles in the show Ray! scheduled to debut in the fall of 2023.

At the God & Country Theater catch an all Elvis Gospel Show! The only Grammy awards Elvis ever won were for his gospel music. Experience The King like never before along with one of Elvis’ favorite Gospel groups, The Blackwoods.

The Little Opry Theater at the Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex will feature ventriloquist and comedian, Todd Oliver putting on a family-friendly show full of laughter, magic, and music! Todd features his talking dog Irving and a rotating cast of characters.

The Duttons Family Theater is adding a new show called Where Jesus Walked. It is an immersive experience that uses all 360 degrees of the theater.

The Freedom Encounter Theater reopens with a show called Freedom Journey. Experience the journey of tyranny, faith, and freedom through live music, video, and holograms.

Buffalo Ridge Springs

Thousand Hills

Thousand Hills is an 18 hole public golf course that has gained popularity from its unique ability to encompass all skill levels. With three separate sets of tees, golfers of all ages and skills will have a great time. The golf course will give you views of beautiful hardwood forests, unique rock formations, and Ozark streams. Located in the heart of Branson.

Groups to Branson enjoy abundant outdoor activities while taking in majestic views of the Ozark Mountains.

Just south of Branson is a 1600-acre ranch that offers a unique Ozark Mountain experience called Hog Wild Adventures. Ride in a very capable off-road side by side UTV. You’ll get two hours of a guided trail ride in a variety of terrain conditions from the top of the mountains to the creek bottoms and trails that are winding and fun. These open air 2-seaters can be rented for a variety of timeless adventures.

Dogwood Canyon is a beautiful nature park featuring thousands of recreational acres. Guests can take a tram tour, fly fish, or take a relaxing stroll on the trails.

Horseback riding is another outdoor activity that Branson offers. There are guided tours that give guests the opportunity to explore the Ozarks from atop a horse! Ozark Mountain Trail Rides offers two Branson area locations to pick from.

Ziplines are another popular outdoor attraction in Branson. Feel the wind as you fly through the trees or over the lake! There are several zipline attractions located throughout the Branson area,

each offering a unique zip lining experience!

Mountain biking is now an option for your group in Branson. Check out the new Howler Bike Park just north of town that is drawing rave reviews for its unique experience.

Caves are a plentiful and popular activity in the Branson area. Lost Canyon Cave at Top of the Rock can be uniquely explored with your group as you drive through it in a golf-cart. Talking Rocks Cavern is conveniently located near Branson West. Guests are encouraged to take the hour-long tour to learn about the history of the cave and see all of the beautiful sights. Cosmic Caverns is located between Branson and Eureka Springs. This cave is Arkansas’s largest privately owned show cave. The cave stays a nice 64 degrees year round. Marvel Cave is found right inside Silver Dollar City. They offer daily tours of this cave which is rich in history.

If you like hiking, you have found the right destination. Branson offers miles of some of the country’s best trails.

The Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area features five trails on over 1500 acres.

The Table Rock Lakeshore Trails offer guests a gorgeous walk from the Dewey Short Visitor Center to the Showboat Branson Belle area.

The Lakeside Forest Wilderness offers the opportunity for guests to explore over 130 acres of wooded and rugged Ozark hills and provides visitors with a more challenging hike. This 4.4 mile trail includes 315 stonework steps. The trail also offers views of an old homestead and barn, two caves, a grotto, and beautiful views of Lake Taneycomo.

Branson and the Ozark Mountains first gained fame in the early 20th Century with publication of the novel, Shepherd of the Hills. While seeking out the beautiful rolling hills about which they had read, they also found great fishing in the peaceful valleys between those hills. The White River, which begins and ends in Arkansas and meanders through Missouri, quickly became a favorite spot

of tourists. Many early visitors loved the Ozarks so much that they moved here (and still do), and soon the need for electrical power compelled the construction of hydro-electric dams.

The construction of six dams on the White River has transformed fishing and life in the Ozarks. Six beautiful and diverse lakes can today be found in the White River Basin, and three of them are in the immediate Branson area. Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo, and Bull Shoals Lake are all popular among fishermen, boaters, swimmers, and those seeking fun in the sun.

Lake Taneycomo was created in 1913 with the construction of the Powersite Dam a few miles downstream from Branson. The cold-water lake, which has the personality of a river, is today stocked with over half a million trout annually, making it one of anglers’ favorite spots in the U.S., though fishing is not the only adventure to be found on Taneycomo. Visitors to Branson love to explore the river on a Branson Duck Tour or get wet on the exciting Branson Jet Boats.

Table Rock Dam was a marvel when it was constructed in 1958. At over 6400 feet long, it was then the longest dam in the world. The depth of the water at the dam averages 250 feet. When the gates are fully open, the dam releases 500,000 cubic feet per second (or about 3.76 million gallons). The dam is not the only wonder to behold on Table Rock Lake.

Visitors and locals alike enjoy boating on the lake which boasts 800 miles of shoreline. The lake is known for its record-setting bass, but fishermen also enjoy catching crappie, catfish, bluegill, and perch. Boats and pontoons can be rented at many marinas around the lake, including State Park Marina near the dam or Indian Point Marina. Scuba divers love exploring the lake.

Visitors and locals alike enjoy the excursions on the Showboat Branson Belle, a paddleboat that offers worldclass shows and meals. Many guests love to swim at Moonshine Beach. Nearly everyone stops at the Dewey Short Visitor’s Center next to the dam to learn both the history and current conditions on the lake.

Free Things to Do

When you’re looking for something out of the ordinary to do in Branson, there are a few places you need to check out. The best part about them, they’re completely free!

Religious Experiences

Creation Experience Museum is a free museum, but currently requires an appointment. On the way, stop at Images at the Cross to take some pictures of the 250 foot tall cross just north of Branson. The Shrine of The Holy Spirit features a 100-foot tall spire, the grounds, which also include a chapel, seating area, and fountains, offer a quiet place for prayer or meditation and are particularly lovely at night when lit up.

College of the Ozarks

This college isn’t like other colleges you may have seen. There are some really unique free experiences here. The Gaetz Tractor Museum features a variety of antique tractors and farm equipment. Watch students grind whole-grain meal and flour at Edwards Mill. Tour the Fruitcake and Jelly Kitchen which has been producing world famous fruitcakes for over 85 years. Be sure to visit the Patriots Park while you are there as well.

Downtown Branson

The Branson Centennial Museum in downtown Branson is a free museum. See the history of the Ozarks and the Branson area. You’ll be fascinated with the history of Branson, its entertainers, and people. It is located at 120 South Commercial Street.

Be sure to visit Dick’s 5 & 10 in

downtown Branson. It’s free to walk in and browse, but you might just find something you can’t live without!

Take a walk along Lake Taneycomo at Branson Landing. Catch the fountain show in the town square of Branson Landing with the first ever merging of water, lights, fire, and music. Shows run every hour at the top of the hour from noon until 10pm and were orchestrated by Wet Design.

Hop on the free discovery trolley for an overview of some of Branson’s landmarks, as well as convenient transportation between the historic downtown area, the Branson Convention Center, and Branson Landing. The trolley operates March through December daily, 10am to 6pm.

Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery

The Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery is the largest trout-rearing facility operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation. It is located below Table Rock Dam. The hatchery produces between 350,000 and 400,000 pounds of trout each year. Both rainbow and brown trout are raised at the hatchery with 80 percent of production going into Lake Taneycomo. Guests can also feed the trout on their visit to the hatchery. The conservation center is currently being rebuilt and is temporarily unavailable..

Dewey Short Visitor Center

Dewey Short Visitor Center near Table Rock Dam provides guests with unique exhibits including: a state-of-the-art

interactive map of Table Rock Lake, beautiful artistic wall murals, and a replica of an Ozarks bluff complete with local flora and fauna. A Native American artifact exhibit and Ozarks dioramas are fascinating features of the interpretive center. An interactive water safety exhibit demonstrates the importance of wearing a life jacket, and an expansive cut-away model reveals the inner workings of a hydroelectric dam. The fascinating history of the Corps of Engineers rounds out the exhibits. Guests can also walk or jog along the connecting trails while taking in the beautiful views of the Table Rock Lake on the Table Rock Lakeshore Trail. This trail is paved and easy to walk.

Hiking

Located at the corner of W 76 Country Blvd and Fall Creek Rd, and across from Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater, Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area offers numerous trails overlooking Lake Taneycomo. Discover the old Owen homestead and cave too.

Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area

The Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area is located on 1,530 acres of scenic Ozark backcountry and provides guests with the opportunity to explore on paved trails and natural surfaces. The Henning Conservation Area also offers spectacular views of the countryside from the lookout and observation tower.
