Dear guests 4

We continually strive to make your stay with us as enjoyable and relaxing as it could possibly be and so we are proud to introduce our beautifully renovated swimming pool complex with its 50 metre long pool, the latest jewel in our Spa crown. We followed the renovation works with fascination, watching each day’s progress and marvelling at the speed of construction. The pool complex now includes quiet niches to relax in, separate lanes for serious swimmers and a pool for non-swimmer. In this magazine we give you a glimpse of the swimming delights that await on your next visit. Another new feature of our Spa is a whole range of cosmetic treatments especially designed for men. Autumn is as always a time for pleasure, when leaves turn to gold, yellow and red and the sun’s long shadows warm you on a scenic hike or a round of golf. We welcome Alfons Schuhbeck to our Autumn Festival in late September and on 24 October head chef Christoph Zangerl and guest chefs will be conjuring up a menu of gastronomic highlights. The star line-up includes top chef Karl heinz Hauser and German delicatessen and truffle expert Ralf Bos.

Tirolean Alps. Hikes start right at the hotel’s front door and you are immediately immersed in nature. Our guests never run out of new routes to hike on 650 km of sign-posted hiking trails leading through the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountain

Wellness

Our fabulous new pool opens

Unadulterated swimming pleasure The completely renovated swimming complex with its 50 metre pool is the new jewel in our luxurious Spa.

Interalpen-Magazin

Wellness

“Our design for the swimming pool is modern and contemporary but not fashionable, because fashion changes too quickly”, says Philip Wohlfarth, the architect responsible for our new pool. It took 18 months from first draft to final technical drawings and, during this time, Wohfarth and his team from monoplan AG in Zurich worked with the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol to develop a very precise concept for the new swimming pool area. “We agreed that the pool area should retain its imposing dimensions and not be too embellished or fragmented. We had extensive surfaces to work with so we decided to go for luxurious understatement, where nothing detracts from the space, which has vibrancy of its own.”

At peak times during the construction work, up to 160 workmen moved tonnes of stone, wood, tiles and glass, driving diggers, tiling, hammering, drilling, sealing, and installing lighting. Sounds like hard work? “And it was,” says Wohlfarth, “because the construction team had just eight weeks to complete the project. In comparison, a public swimming pool can take years to finish.” A core team of five dozen tradesmen worked around the clock, sometimes on a three shift system, and at key moments they were joined by many more. The entire 2,000 square metre space was stripped back to brick, a digger cleared the vast swimming pool and specialists of every trade worked side by side.

Sympathetic use of natural materials from the region gives the pool its unique character, allowing it to blend seamlessly with the Tirolean landscape that guests can enjoy through the huge glass wall. The architectural team was also inspired by these mountain views: “We took the grey shades from the rocky peaks of the surrounding Alps and conceived the swimming pool to resemble a mountain lake with turquoise water, which sparkles in places as if the sun is breaking through.” The basic form of the pool has hardly changed, however the whole swimming experience has been strikingly improved. Everything is new, more functional, just better, and it fits perfectly into the hotel and the spa and

wellness facilities around it. Guests have many new ways to enjoy the water – they can relax in newly created niches, lie back in luxurious sunbeds in the gallery or right by the pool, or enjoy fabulous views of the Tirolean Alps. The imposing pool, filled as before with soft, invigorating Grander water, has features to please every kind of water lover: serious swimmers can follow their fitness programme and do lengths undisturbed in two marked lanes while children can splash to their heart’s content in their own pool. So the majority of the 50 metre long pool is at the disposal of those who want to bathe at their leisure. The atmosphere is also significantly quieter than before the renovations – a sound-absorbing ceiling and quiet niches enhance the relaxing atmosphere.

Men’s Spa at the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol

Wellness for Men Male guests are discovering the joys of the Spa and being pampered with exclusive skin care treatments. “The Men’s Spa is absolutely on trend. We are responding to increased demand and offering specialist treatments just for men”, says Spa manager Guy Burke. Our Spa team is pleased to offer male guests individual well-being treatments to enhance their holiday relaxation. A perfect day at the Interalpen-

Hotel Tyrol Spa might begin with a refreshing wet shave and the pampering continues with an exclusive men’s treatment, maybe a revitalising anti-aging treatment or a Vinoble Classic using exclusively organic natural products.

You can swim through a channel to the outside pool.

Winter season in the Alps

A most romantic time of year 02 – 20 December 2011

A time of gemütlichkeit Savour the magical Advent atmosphere at the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol: find your Christmas spirit with candlelight and Christmas biscuits before a visit to Innsbruck’s charming Christmas market.

* Advent coffee with Stollen cake and spiced Christmas biscuits

* A visit to the Christkindlmarkt in

When sparkling white snow covers peaks and treetops, it’s time for mountain lovers to begin their winter adventures. The Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol lies in the heart of the mountains. From idyllic slopes and perfect cross-country ski trails to cosy evenings by the fireside, the magic of snow in the Alps instils a perfect winter feeling. Everyone should go on a traditional snow-shoe ramble at least once

in their lives! The creak of the pure snow, the silence of the forests and endless winter panoramas help you leave everyday cares far behind you. Snowshoes and an experienced mountain guide are provided by the hotel. Or try a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride – the ultimate fairy-tale

experience. Jingling bells, the snorting of Haflinger horses and the crystal clear mountain air make for a magical Advent atmosphere. Sleigh guide Manuela knows this Alpine region backwards and offers a choice of eight scenic tours, each more beautiful than the last. Sports lovers can hire cross-country skis from the hotel shop and head out across Seefeld High Plateau on the 260 km trail network, which starts right at the front door. Take your time and glide at your leisure through the breath-taking backdrop - you will experience nature in the mountains even more intensely. In contrast the numerous ski pistes in

the Olympia region offer exhilarating action on runs of every difficulty grade and night skiing with illuminated slopes is a particular treat. Families with children head straight for the hotel toboggan hire and a suitably safe slope is quickly found for a day of fun in the fresh air. Many guests end their toboggan excursion with the best ever snowball fight.

Vouchers now also available online A stay at our hotel is always a well-received gift, whatever the occasion: for Christmas, a birthday present, or just to say thank you to someone you love.

And after a day’s sporting activity you can bring the day to an atmospheric close with a sociable after-dark ramble. An easy walk by torchlight leads you to an idyllic Alpine hut, where you can relive the day’s highlights over a sociable drink.

Our reservations team will be pleased to issue vouchers and you can now order them online and print them out. This is the ideal present to make someone very happy. Vouchers can be presented in an attractive wooden box on request (supplement payable).
