DOWNTOWN BEACHES Need a jump-in-the-lake break? The sandy shoreline of West Grand Traverse Bay along Grandview Parkway in Traverse City is divided into separate beaches—each with its own sunny day personality. Clinch Park Beach, with its 1,500 sandy feet of frontage just north of downtown, is the hub of beach-life in this city. Get there via the pedestrian tunnel that goes under the parkway at Cass Street.

Looking for a pickup game of volleyball? Volleyball Beach is just a bit west of Union Street, at the foot of Hall Street and the parkway. Find restrooms and a picnic shelter at West End Beach at the foot of Division Street. Sunset Beach is a lesser-known stretch of sand tucked at the foot of Hope Street.

Bryant Park at the base of Old Mission Peninsula, where Garfield Avenue meets Peninsula Drive, is a wonderful beach outfitted with picnic tables, charcoal grills, shade trees and squeaky-clean restrooms.
