Visit Banchory and chances are you will encounter one of the 12 artists' fiddles on display around the town. The vibrant new Banchory Violin Trail is located in various host locations including local shops, art venues, cafes and hotels in the town. The violins represent Banchory’s musical history being the birth place of James Scott Skinner born in Banchory in 1843. Known as ‘The Strathspey King’ he is one of the greatest violinists and composers of Scottish traditional music composing many tunes which are still played worldwide. Inspired by themes of local heritage, nature, landscape and wildlife, each violin piece is truly a unique work of art to be enjoyed by visitors over the summer months. All violins are available to purchase and will be offered for sale by auction in the autumn. The trail has been developed by Banchory & District Initiative and supported by Banchory Business Association. More information about each of the participating artists and details of host locations can be found at www. visitbanchory.com/things-to-do/violin trail/ The Banchory Violin Trail runs until September 27th.
