North Myrtle Beach

The nine-mile-long beach community of North Myrtle Beach is known for its wide-open beach, famous musical past and family-friendly vibe. North Myrtle Beach was created in 1968 by combining four existing communities – Cherry Grove, Windy Hill, Ocean Drive Beach and Crescent Beach. North Myrtle Beach is also the birthplace of the Shag dance, which became the official state dance of South Carolina in 1984. The Alabama Theatre dazzles crowds with nightly shows, or explore Barefoot Landing, an entertainment complex with restaurants and shopping.
