Romans 12:1 says, “I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.”

God tells us that worship is a lifestyle. We’re to offer up our very selves as an act — as a life — of worship unto the Lord.

Do you know that the alternative to worshiping God with your life is? It’s not worshiping nothing. Worship is evaluating something or someone’s worth, holding its value above everything else in your lives, and living in response to that evaluation.

When you think of worship that way, everyone on this planet is living a life of worship. Everyone holds something as more valuable than everything else, and lives accordingly.

As you read this, I want you to consider: if I’m not living my life in worship to God — what am I worshiping with my life? Isn’t it scary to consider that you could be valuing something above everything else and not know that you’re living your life that way?

Orbit your life around the Lord — in prayer, in love, in dedication to serving others — and you will live a life of worship properly. You can’t do this on your own. Pray that God, through his Holy Spirit, would empower you to powerfully combat sin in your life. Pray that He would give you the discipline to read your Bible and pray regularly. Pray that he would help you value the importance of Sunday worship and living a life of sabbath rest.
