Have you ever gone to a concert or a sporting event and been a few minutes late? You’re outside and you can hear the bass thumping inside. Or you’re walking through the concourse at a sports game and you hear the crowd roar. If you’re like me, what’s going through your mind at that moment is this: “I can’t believe I’m missing this — I need to get in there!”

We want to join in the singular focus on the one thing everyone is enjoying.
Hebrews 12 tells us that this is the kind of mentality we can have when entering a worship service. It says that when we worship, we “come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem.” There, we join “thousands of angels in joyful assembly” as well as “the spirits of the righteous made perfect.”
Wow, did you catch that?
When we worship on a Sunday morning, we come to the holy city of God, and join thousands of angels in praising God, alongside all of the Christians that have come before. We join Abraham, Moses, Ruth, David, Mary, Paul, Peter, and many more in worship!
Not only that, we join the saints that have gone on before us. Your passed loved ones who loved the Lord are part of that ongoing joyful worship of Him!

Every Sunday — and every other time we worship — we enter into a mysterious union with a spiritual realm different from ours. We join billions that have gone before us in a celebration of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — a celebration that will one day be our primary occupation when we reach paradise.
If you’ve not been a part of this type of worship, I encourage you to find a local church that will give you the space to devote yourself to God in praise and worship. He is worthy of it!
