Bishop Noll will highlight students during Fine Arts Week

HAMMOND | Travel to Hollywood with the music of the movies during Bishop Noll’s Concert Band and Choir spring concert.

The performance will take place at 7 p.m. May 13 in the school auditorium. There is no charge to attend.

The band, along with the BNI choir, will celebrate the movies performing selections from Top Gun, Batman, Avatar, Field of Dreams, Star Wars, Bohemian Rhapsody and more. This is a concert for the entire family.

The concert is part of BNI Fine Arts Week, which begins with a student talent show at 7 p.m. May 11. The BNI Jazz Band and BNI Rock Band will perform at 7 p.m. May 12.

The Bishop Noll Art Department will also showcase an art gallery from the BNI students in the cafeteria from Friday evening through the end of the spring concert.

The BNI band has had a successful year with 1st- and 2nd- place trophies for its performance and participation at the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa, Florida, this winter.

Mark Anthony Carter, age 58, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, surrounded by his family in his home in South Holland, Illinois. He was born on January 23, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father Cliff Williams and his mother Mae Carter. Mark was a serial entrepreneur, wearing many hats over the course of his long career, first as a Fundraiser, Consultant, Real Estate Investor, and much more. Mark was known not only for the incredible depth of knowledge he brought to any subject, any business, but also for the warmth of his personality, kindness, deep regard for others, and a radiant optimism. He embodied the very best characteristics one would want to have in a spouse, friend, and father. Mark is survived by his wife of 29 years, Raneigh M. Carter. All four of his children Francis McCall, Stephanie McCall, Marcus Carter, and Anastasia Carter. His grandchildren Laila Robbins and Jada Lynn Hogans. Stephen Randolph “Randy” Gretz, age 74, of South Holland, IL formerly of East Hampton, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Chicago, IL. Beloved husband of Patricia Paarlberg. Loving father of Laura (Kyle) Cassidy, Stephen Randolph Gretz Jr., James Paul Gretz; and step-father of Brittany Duncan, Catriona Duncan, Peter (Tamara) Paarlberg Stevens and Andrew Paarlberg Stevens.
