Designing a Modern Heating Solution
Currently in the UK, we use vast quantities of energy in our homes and other buildings. The power used to light, heat and operate them accounts for over 25% of our national CO2 emissions. With 85% of this energy being used to heat homes and provide hot water alone, it is clear that our industry has a big part to play in energy conservation. In today’s world of growing environmental concerns and rising fuel prices, the biggest challenge for modern heating solutions is how to provide indoor comfort in the most energy efficient way possible. Designing and installing energy efficient heating solutions are essential parts of reducing energy consumption in buildings and, ultimately, achieving national targets for reducing CO2 emissions.

New iVECTOR The iVECTOR is the first in a new generation of intelligent fan convectors. It has been designed specifically to combine all the traditional advantages of a fan convector with a range of new product features made possible by our latest energy efficient heating technology. • Compact in size due to the large surface area of its heat exchanger • Provides a rapid and efficient response to heating and cooling requirements • Cost effective option for use with traditional boilers and renewable heat sources • Designed to operate efficiently even with low water temperatures • Easy to install alone or add to an existing heating system • Incorporates intelligent and easy to use controls • Operates almost silently at low speeds, it is our quietest fan convector ever!
The large surface area of the iVECTOR’s heat exchanger means that units are compact in size and occupy less space than a panel radiator of equivalent output. By utilising fan convection, the iVECTOR also provides an even distribution of warm air throughout a room meaning that rooms feel more comfortable, even at lower temperatures. In winter months, the iVECTOR rapidly supplies warmth and can automatically switch to cooling during the summer when fitted to a chiller unit or reverse cycle heat pump. The electronic thermostat in each iVECTOR closely monitors temperatures room by room and controls the fan speed to accurately maintain temperatures at the desired comfort level. The intelligent, electronic control system in every iVECTOR provides a wide range of easy to use heating and cooling operating options. Its two-tier level of programming incorporates an ‘easy’ mode for everyday operation and a ‘full’ mode for more advanced functions. • Each iVECTOR is individually programmable • 24/7 programmer with 1 hour time periods • Lockable LCD backlit display • Programmes saved in memory for 12 hours in event of power failure • Automatic and manual options for control of fan speeds • Option to link to building management systems • Night set-back function.

New MYSON TYPE 33 panel radiator
The MYSON TYPE 33 panel radiator is a clever and compact piece of engineering. It has three panels and three convector fins so that it delivers nearly three times as much heat output as a TYPE 11 radiator of the same size. This makes it an ideal choice for use with low water temperature heat sources such as heat pumps. You can still have all the heat you need from the same amount of wall space!

A larger radiator is needed when using low temperature water systems to generate the same output as high water temperature systems.
NEW Select Compact TYPE 33
In this example, the radiators are the same width and length but the TYPE 33 has two more panels and convector fins than the TYPE 11 in order to generate the same output. NOTE: Good insulation is important. If a building is insulated to modern standards it will be possible to achieve the desired level of indoor comfort with even smaller radiators.

‘A’ rated efficiency
A new industry development in 2012 is the introduction of a TELL (Thermostatic Efficiency Label) system for radiator valves.
Under the TELL classification a number of specific parameters are weighted and used to calculate an overall efficiency value. It uses the EU energy label, which people will recognise from its use on domestic electrical appliances such as fridges, washing machines and dishwashers. The energy label provides information about product performance. A key part of the label is its energy efficiency rating scale, which provides an index of products’ efficiency from ‘A’ (the most efficient) to ‘G’ (the least efficient). In line with our strategy of heating through innovation and anticipating industry trends, we can now announce that the MYSON TRV 2 WAY valve has already achieved an ‘A’ classification under the new labelling system!
