Honey Glazed Spiral Ham

• IGA whole leg ham, on the bone (approx 8kg)

1. Preheat the oven to 160°C.

2. Either line a large deep baking pan with aluminium foil or use a disposable foil baking dish and set aside.

3. Place an oven shelf in the lowest position and remove all other shelves.

4. Next, carefully remove the rind from the ham.

5. Wrap the rind in a damp tea towel and store in the fridge, then use it to cover leftover ham (the rind will stop the ham from drying out.)

6. Use a small sharp knife to score the fat, a diamond pattern is popular, but for a change try scoring around the ham in spiral-formation, about 5mm deep.

7. Place the ham in the baking pan. Cover the whole thing with aluminium foil and bake in the oven for 40 minutes. Remove the ham from the oven.

8. In a small saucepan, add the sugar, honey and ground cloves and over a medium heat, gently cook, stirring, until well combined and runny.

9. Pour the glaze directly over the ham, completely covering it.

10. Place it back in the oven, uncovered for 30 to 45 minutes, basting every 15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

11. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, baste again before carving. Reduce pan juices for a deliciously sweet and salty drizzle.

GLAZED HAM

RECIPE SUPPLIED BY PARK & COVE

INGREDIENTS

• 1 leg ham (around 3.5kg)

• ½ cup honey

• ½ cup brown sugar

METHOD

• ¼ cup Dijon mustard

• 2 tbs orange juice

• ½ tsp ground cloves

• ½ tsp ground cinnamon

1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.

• Whole cloves (for decoration)

• Pineapple rings and maraschino cherries (optional, for garnish)

2. Place the ham in a large roasting pan, cut side down. If your ham is not pre-sliced, you can make shallow cuts in a diamond pattern on the top of the ham to allow the glaze to penetrate. If you like, you can decorate the ham by pressing whole cloves into the ham in a decorative pattern.

3. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, orange juice, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved and the glaze is well combined. Let it cool for a few minutes.

4. Brush a generous amount of the honey glaze over the ham, ensuring that it gets into the cuts that you made. While the ham is baking, baste it with the remaining glaze every 20-30 minutes.

5. Cover the ham with aluminium foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes per kilo. During the last 30 minutes of cooking, remove the foil to allow the glaze to caramelise.

6. If you choose to garnish the ham, place pineapple rings and maraschino cherries around it during the final 15-20 minutes of baking. The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 60°C.

7. Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before carving. Carve the ham and serve with the remaining honey glaze on the side for drizzling. Add a little greenery for presentation.

A very merry red and pink Christmas

Nothing says festive quite like a well-dressed table. And if you’re after a fresh take on holiday decor this year, why not try a pink and red theme? This unconventional pairing brings warmth and playfulness to your Christmas table.

THE COLOUR BLEND

Try combining muted blush tones with bold, rich reds to create depth and contrast. A dusty pink tablecloth or napkin set provides a gentle base, while scarlet red dinnerware or red berries and candles adds a classic Christmas touch. The trick is balancing the colours – let them complement rather than compete.

THE FINISHING TOUCHES

No holiday table is complete without natural greenery. Pine branches, sprigs of eucalyptus, or rosemary tucked into napkin rings bring a fresh scent to your tablescape. Use a red or pink vase to tie the look together. We like the Byron Bay Rose vase, available from Domayne, Maroochydore Homemaker Centre.

PRODUCT FIND: The Ashra fringed berry red table linen range has the perfect mix of texture and Christmas colour, Pillow Talk.

we love!

IT’S ALL ABOUT TEXTURE

A stunning tablescape isn’t just about colour; it’s also about texture and pattern. To make your pink-and-red theme pop, layer in textured elements like linen napkins, velvet ribbons, or woven placemats. You can even introduce texture in your glassware – ribbed, frosted, hammered. Mixing textures creates a tactile experience, encouraging guests to enjoy the details. For a dash of personality, add patterned elements like floral charger plates, printed napkins, or a table runner with a soft motif. These touches give the tablescape depth. Just remember to keep patterns subtle so they don’t overpower the pink and red theme.

Arrange this dark pink poinsettia through your arrangements. Available Domayne, Maroochydore Homemaker Centre. a f n g r s t ink r floral le from dore re

THE GOLD STANDARD for nonsurgical lifting and skin tightening. Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound energy to the same foundational layer typically addressed by

surgeons during cosmetic surgery, without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. Ultherapy is a noninvasive procedure to lift the skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow and improve lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. How it works: Unlike lasers, radio frequency and other technologies, Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver energy at optimal depths, temperature and precision. The use of ultrasound imaging allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue they are treating,

ensuring energy is delivered to where it would be most beneficial for the specific needs of the client. Ultherapy can help you achieve a fresher, more youthful look from your brow to your chest.
