This month we’d love to share with you a simple but effective frontage renovation concept that transforms a cute home into a modern farmhouse retreat. The client’s brief for this project was to change the roof colour, remove the diamond motif from above the garage and provide some shade to the front bedroom. All of these items were easily achievable and by working with the existing materials and style of the home, we were able to achieve even more. The design builds on the existing look and feel to create a modern farmhouse style, transforming this residence to be the best in the beautiful street. When inspecting the home the roof and side fences were the first elements that looked as though they would benefit from some improvements. The final concept includes repaired and painted timber fencing and a painted roof in Dulux Monument.

When a home pool is executed correctly, it can become a designer piece and the ultimate water feature for your home. Sean Lynch from Poolfab Pool + Landscape Creations, shares his top 10 tips to achieve a great design.

1. When designing your ideal pool, plan to build the pool in a part of your garden that won’t section off a whole portion of the yard.

8. Everyone loves to sit or recline in the water, so consider the design of steps, shallow ledges, spas and swim-up bench areas.

3. Think about where you would like the entrances when designing your ideal pool. You should only need one or two gates to encourage flow from the home.

7. While a diving pool may seem like a fun idea, it may be difficult to do in your backyard. Instead, think about your space, your lifestyle and what type of pool would suit the area best for your family.

5. Think about how you would like to use your pool. When designing your ideal pool, take into consideration whether you will use it for laps, leisure or a place of fun for the family to enjoy.

While the sun can be harsh, there is no reason your deck can’t be maintained with a little commitment and work.
