trend: IT’S ALL ABOUT GREIGE It’s the event that shapes the next 12 months of the interior design world – the annual release of the Dulux Colour Trends. The team behind the 2017 report say design will be inspired by a focus on tactility, deep blues and the evolution of ‘greiges’. Presenting a collection of globally inspired hues, a cool palette as well as colours that promote tactility and warmth, the 2017 Dulux Colour Trends Antidote: A Colour Cure comprises four themes: Sentience, Chroma, Entwine and Construct. Motivated by the desire to combat the modern challenges we face in the digital age, the Dulux

Antidote aims to offer a gentle remedy for the senses through colour and texture. Dulux colour expert Andrea Lucena-Orr says there is an ongoing desire to create havens that cater to all senses, which will see the prominence of textures blended with muted hues. “Deeper blues and greens such as Dulux Deep Arctic are predicted to be the dominant colours in 2017 and we will also see a rise in the popularity of earthy greens such as Dulux Army Fatigues. “Greys and greiges which have evolved to feature subtle undertones will also be in demand.”

how to: PAINT A CONCRETE DRIVEWAY

f you are looking for a quick and inexpensive way to freshen up your driveway, you may find the answer in a tin of paint. While topcrete and similar products are long-lasting and look terrific, cleaning and painting the area can be a short-term solution. STEP ONE The first thing to do is clean the driveway. Sweep the area and then scrub it with a stiff broom and apply etch primer. Allow the primer to sit on the concrete for 15 minutes before hosing clean. STEP TWO Just like with any painting job, you will need to mask up the edges of the driveway. It’s important to prevent

EPOXY GARAGE FLOORING unwanted paint getting on nearby garden edging, pavers or walls. STEP THREE Talk to your local paint and hardware experts about choosing the right paint product. Specialised driveway paint can be challenging to apply as it has a thick consistency. The experts at Bunnings recommend diluting some of the paint with mineral turpentine for the first coat. Mix 100ml of turpentine in for every litre of paint. STEP FOUR Bunnings recommends, painting all the edges with a paint brush. After cutting in, use a roller for the rest of the surface. Remember to allow time for each coat to dry – at least 15 hours.
