NAMED QUEENSLAND’S TOP TOURISM TOWN!
Thank
INTRODUCING
The popular and picturesque beachside town of Caloundra has received a refreshing new look, thanks to a passionate team of business and community groups.
After a year of consultation and extensive research, Caloundra now has a vibrant and welcoming new brand to help promote the town as the ideal place to live, work and play.
New street banners are flying from the poles along Bulcock Street with a contemporary colour palette emphasising a retro-flavour inspired by the sun, sea and nature.
An impressive mural-like artwork, implemented by Caloundra local artist Steven Bordonaro, has brought the exterior of council’s customer service centre at 77 Bulcock Street to life with an image of iconic Bulcock Beach.
The new brand embraces the use of a winky face and ‘un’ words to capture many of Caloundra’s “unique, fun, unforgettable and stunning” qualities, including its pristine beaches and friendly locals.
Sunshine Coast division two councillor Terry Landsberg says the fresh and friendly new brand ignites pride and connection into the town.
“A lot of love and labour has gone into developing a brand strategy which redefines Caloundra’s unique personality and builds on our town’s proud history,” Cr Landsberg says.
“It was also important to unify the brand with the exciting work underway as part of the Caloundra
Centre Master Plan and precinct-based projects such as the Destination Centre and Community and Creative Hub.
“This brand has been created for the community, by the community and was a key activation project of the Downtown Caloundra Taskforce which is made up of local business and community members.”
Local business owner and Caloundra ambassador Kim McCosker says it is a privilege to be involved in the rebranding and be part of a united group of Caloundra champions.
“I’m delighted to see Caloundra’s new personality come to life as positive, happy, human and unpretentious,” Ms McCosker says.
“The success of the new brand relies on the uptake by our businesses, community and passionate locals.
“I encourage everyone to adopt and promote
the new look with pride and passion, because if we’re proud of it, then so will our grandchildren and the generations to come.”
Caloundra Chamber of Commerce CEO Brady Sullivan says the rebrand is timely with Caloundra recently crowned as Queensland’s Top Tourism Town for 2023 in the Tourism Industry Council’s Awards.
“Caloundra is growing… we have the fastest growing population on the Sunshine Coast and the fastest-growing number of businesses,” Mr Sullivan
says. “So, it is time Caloundra had a brand that represents it’s fresh personality and promotes the town as the ideal place to live, work and play.”
A new state-of-the-art district library and vibrant creative community hub will soon create a centrepiece for locals to enjoy, help lift investment confidence and establish Caloundra as a business and cultural community heart. Visit the revamped website at caloundra.com.au.
What do you love about
As ambassadors for Caloundra, here’s what a few residents who live and work in the town have to say about their slice of paradise.
“Living and working in Caloundra is like a dose of a natural vitamin. You just go, ‘how lucky am I’?”
Kim McCosker – 4 Ingredients
“When we moved from overseas, we moved straight away to Kings Beach. When we first came on holidays, we loved the beaches and loved the people – the people are so kind.”
Ellie Degraeve – Go For Zero
“I’ve been here for a long time and it’s quite an embracing community that we have here, what Caloundra offers. Being here a long time, you always gravitate back if you go somewhere – it’s a great place to live.”

THE WALKWAY DELI & CAFE
Owners Joanne and Andrew have been in Australia for 15 years, initially living in Adelaide for five years, moving to Brisbane for another five, and then settling at Moffat Beach on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Their dream has always been to open a “place” – some kind of cafe, deli or bar. Now, they are excited to announce they have realised their dream and have opened The Walkway Café and Deli in Caloundra. “We have worked and travelled throughout Europe and during that time we experienced amazing foods, drinks and cultures,” the pair says. “These experiences have driven our passion for quality – quality produce, quality drinks, quality music and above all quality customer service. Ultimately what we always wanted was to create a place and an atmosphere that we would like to spend time in. We have taken the best bits from everything we have experienced and put it into The Walkway.” Be sure to stop by, say hi and enjoy breakfast, lunch or a coffee.

FRIENDS OF THE GALLERY
There is something magical about stepping into the world of an artist. They have the ability to transport the viewer to far away places, stir up memories, make you feel safe and bring a touch of joy to the moment. Artist Judith Rose will be part of a joint exhibition with artist Jo Murray at the Talented Friends Gallery from July 20 through to August 31. Judith has been an artist for more than 20 years and this exhibition is part of a body of work she is currently completing. The images range from Kings Beach, Sunshine Coast, Noosa Shire, Hamilton Island and some from moments in Fiji. All seem to imbue a feeling of memory with the nostalgic feeling of a 1970s polaroid, mixed with a 1950s poster. Safe, colourful, fun, a youthful yesteryear. The Eclectic, Exciting, Enigmatic & Seeds for the Soul exhibition will open on July 20, 5.30pm to 7pm.

Kim McCosker, Caloundra Business Alliance (CBA) presidentA few words from Kim
Recently Gaile Lillico (secretary of the CBA) and I embarked on a discovery stroll of Caloundra’s backstreets and laneways. On it, we encountered art and murals we never even knew existed!
It was incredible, so I snapped and posted and was surprised by how many locals also asked where they were.

As a result, the CBA decided we’d host Caloundra’s first FREE Street Art Walking Tours. We upskilled ourselves in the knowledge of the pieces to share with others, so when their family and friends come to visit, they too can share this delightful walk.
Caloundra’s beautiful streets and laneways are home to an array of unique art for all to observe. The walk is easy and takes about 45 minutes.
