What does the ALCANTARA Comprehensive Nutrition Program Ordinance say?
The Municipal Government of Alcantara shall uphold the right to food and nutrition of its constituents in the effort to improve the quality of human resource base of the country and to have substantial decrease in child and maternal morbidity, mortality and overall disease burden. The nutrition law primarily caters children and mothers’ needs. The ordinance and its provisions shall be implemented in various settings.

Promotion of Infant and Young Child Feeding! Promote, protect and support breastfeeding (exclusive breastfeeding for 0-6 months and complementary feeding for the 7th month onwards)
Supplementary Feeding in Schools and Residence-Based Centers! Support regular supplementary feeding and essential care program for school and community children with high cases of malnutrition
Micronutrient supplementation and food fortification! Ensure uninterrupted supply of micronutrients among children, pregnant and lactating women
Maternal and Child Care ! Promote health of mother which affects the child in the womb with the end in view of delivering a healthy baby
Pinoy Nutrition Hub: Community-based Behaviour Change to Prevent Malnutrition! Empower families and communities to address malnutrition through locally available and affordable means
Immunization Program and Monitoring and Reporting of Children’s Height and Weight! Ensure program on preventive child care and health services
Budget Allocation ! A minimum of 1% of the internal revenue allotment shall be set aside for these purposes
