first aid at work (faw) Who is it for?

The aim of the 3-Day FAW is to provide learners with the knowledge and the skills to administer First Aid in the Workplace and receive a nationally recognised qualification to undertake the role as an Appointed First Aider in the Workplace.

What will I learn?

This includes all the features of EFAW and also equips learners with the first aid knowledge and skills to tend a range of specific injuries and illnesses. This particular award is most suited to working environments that have a high hazard count and/or high numbers of employees.

The First Aid at Work qualification is valid for a period of three years at which point a requalification course must be taken.

This requalification is for those already equipped with FAW. The requal recaps learners with the first aid knowledge and skills to tend a range of specific injuries and illnesses. This particular award is most suited to working environments that have a high hazard count and/or high numbers of employees.

What will I learn?

This includes both the theory and practical assessments which are the same as the ones conducted on the 3 Day First Aid at Work course.

Regulations state that all delegates undertaking this course must be in possession of their First Aid at Work qualification. It must not have expired beyond 28 days of the expiry date as shown on their First Aid at Work Certificate. If the certificate has expired beyond the 28 day period then it will be necessary for the delegate to attend a full 3-day First Aid at Work course. HABC level 2 award in

paediatric first aid Who is it for?

This course is for people working with younger children - those up to eight years old – or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education. For the purposes of Registered Childcare provision and Early Years childcare within England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Candidate must successfully complete the full 2 day Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid.

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage is a document published by The Department for Children, Schools and Families and applies to Early Years childcare within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Statutory Framework states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current paediatric first aid certificate.’ The HABC Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid is recognised as a qualification that fulfills this need.

What will I learn?

The course provides theoretical and practical training in First Aid techniques that are specific to infants aged 0 to 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty.

Entry Requirements 16 years old Validity This qualification lasts for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to resit the course. EFAW is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

What will I learn?

This qualification is typically delivered as a one day programme and aimed at learners already working or preparing to work in industry that is identified within the company’s risk assessment of First Aid.

This qualification enables learners to give emergency first aid to someone who becomes ill at work. This particular award is suited to working environments that have minimum hazards along with a low number of employees.

This qualification provides learners with skills to further their first aid training. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.

What will I learn?

Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation & Automated External Defibrilator course covers the core competencies for AED operation in accordance with the current UK Resuscitation Council guidelines and is suitable for anyone who wishes to know how to use one of these lifesaving machines. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in furthering their emergency first aid skills, or who takes part in an organised first aid scheme. For health care workers, this course serves as a basic module.

What will I learn?

This course teaches the essential skills required by an AED operator and gives students the confidence to know what to do in this kind of emergency. No previous first aid knowledge is necessary to attend an AED course

basic life support Who is it for?

Basic Life Support is a relatively short training course required of many health professionals to help revive, resuscitate, or sustain a person who is experiencing cardiac arrest or respiratory failure of some sort. This could include a drowning victim, heart attack or stroke patient, or any scenario where breathing or heartbeat have been compromised. BLS is often required of people who work with young children, with elderly people, or who are lifeguards, coaches, or anyone involved with people on a regular basis who could have any sort of incident.

What will I learn?

The primary skills taught in the course include basic mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and CPR (chest compressions to circulate blood). No medical equipment is needed and there are no invasive procedures taught.

national pool lifeguard Who is it for?

The RLSS NPLQ is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the United Kingdom and Ireland that complies with the industry guidance contained within the HSE publication ‘Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools’ Generally, the NPLQ is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager. On successful completion of the course you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard. The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ 8th Edition) meets all the criteria required for the training and certification of pool lifeguards and is accepted by most swimming pools as the benchmark qualification needed to work as a lifeguard. The qualification is recognised in the National Qualifications Framework as the Level 2 Certificate in Swimming Pool Supervision and Rescue and can be used as evidence when working towards a number of S/NVQ units.

Holders of the STA Award in Pool Emergency Procedures (PEP) are able to act as a rescuer, trained in pool rescue, adult, child and infant CPR techniques competent to deal with poolside emergencies in accordance with The HSE Publication Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools and British Standard BS EN 15288 Swimming Pools Part 2, safety requirements for operations. national water safety management programme (nwsmp) Who is it for?

The National Water Safety Management Programme (NWSMP) is a suite of interlinked training awards, specifically designed to assist those organisations with employees who work in, on or near water to meet their civil and statutory safety management obligations (especially where employees have supervisory responsibilities). This course is ideal for Teachers, Technicians, Outdoor Activity Instructors, Countryside Rangers, Community Safety Wardens, Dock workers, Construction workers, the Emergency Services – everyone and anyone who works in, on or near water.

What will I learn?

The aims of the NWSMP are to: - Enable the facilitation, encouragement and enjoyment of safer open water activity by equipping those who work in, on or near water with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about safety · Develop personal safety skills for lone workers operating in a water-based environment · Develop aquatic emergency response skills

Course Content

The NWSMP allows employers to construct relevant and meaningful training programmes by selecting and linking together those modules most suited to specific operational and individual needs. The programme recognises the need for flexibility, providing individual programmes which meet a wide range of training requirements across a broad spectrum of working environments.

Those who would like to train pool lifeguards. If successful on the course a candidate will leave as a Probationary RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor.

The following will then apply:If successful the probationary period is a maximum of two years from course completion. Cards of authority will be issued when a completed LG9 is sent to RLSS UK Head Office, signed by an appropriate NTA or Mentor Probation must be finished in the correct order as per flow chart

Cards of Authority Cards of Authority are your physical proof of your qualification and your authority to train. Cards of Authority are distributed from the RLSS UK Head Office each year and are valid for a period of 12 months, from January to December. In order to maintain the validity of your Card of Authority the following must remain current; RLSS UK Membership National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or Life Support 3

What will I learn?

The Trainer Assessor course comprises of two units and in order to deliver the full NPLQ course you are required to complete both Unit 1 and Unit 2. Unit 1 - Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor (Unit 1 TA). Unit 2 - Pool Supervision Trainer Assessor (Unit 2 TA). Course Policy

- Report to reception / course tutor to register your arrival. - Please use changing facilities in accordance with your gender. - Upon booking, Trained:UK will inform learners of exactly what footwear, apparel and any equipment they must bring to meet the course requirements. - It is the learners responsibility to ensure they have the correct footwear and apparel for their course. If apparel and footwear are not suitable, learners will not be permitted to take part in the course and their course fee will be forfeited and without transfer. - Upon booking, Trained:UK will inform learners of any pre-course coursework they will need to complete. The appropriate manuals will be issued in accordance with the duration required to complete any pre-course coursework. - It it the learners responsibility to ensure they arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the course. - Once the course has begun, late arrivals will not be accepted and your course fee will be forfeited without transfer. - Parents / Guardians must be readily available to collect any learners under the age of 16 at the end of their course. - Trained:UK reserve the right to change tutor / examiner / assessor without notification to learners. - Photography / video are not permitted without written consent from Trained:UK Office. - It is the learners responsibility to ensure they meet course prerequisites prior to course commencement. Trained UK will not be held responsible for candidates not meeting course prerequisites, learners will not be permitted to take part in the course and their course fee will be forfeited and without transfer. - Active IQ learners will be offered two written theory paper resits free of charge, any additional resits will be subject to an additional administration charge of ÂŁ35 per resit. All other awarding body theory resits are charged at ÂŁ35 per resit. - All practical examination resit are subject to an assessment day rate, rates are variable from course to course and will be advised by Trained:UK prior to rebooking.

Qualifications

- Certification will only be issued once all course pre-requisites are met and the learner has successfully completed all course requirements. - In the event of non-payment or dispute, certificates will not be issued until resolved.

Adverse Weather Conditions

- Courses may be cancelled by Trained:UK in the event of adverse weather conditions. We will not be able to refund these courses but they will be rescheduled. - In the event of learner course cancellation due to adverse weather conditions, course fees will not be refunded or transferred.

Complaints / Feedback Policy

- If you have any complaints or feedback to make, please contact Trained:UK to request a complaints and / or feedback form. - These terms and conditions are attached to every email enquiry and posted for telephone / postal enquiries upon request. - Company policies will be issued by email upon booking.
