“When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.” —The 14th Dalai Lama (1935) Head Monk Of The Gelugpa Lineage Of Tibetan Buddhism “I have never met a person whose greatest need was anything other than real, unconditional love. You can find it in a simple act of kindness toward someone who needs help. There is no mistaking love…it is the common fiber of life, the flame that heats our soul, energizes our spirit and supplies passion to our lives.” —Elisabeth KüblerRoss psychiatrist, author

Editor’s Letter Renewable Acts of Kindness Happy November Everyone, Fall is here in the beautiful southwest and we are finally getting some cooler days. I love this time of year. Everything is so fresh and those sultry hot days of summer are fading away. We take out our sweaters and leggings and make lots of soups and foods that warm our insides. Our fur faces love it too and they wake up all frisky and happy. Recently I had the opportunity of taking a day trip up to the Hopi Mesas for social dances that always happen during this fall harvest time. The dancers were both young men and women in colorful regalia, the dances slow and purposeful as they moved in a grand circle around the courtyard someone's back yard in this case. There were drummers and singers that called out thanksgiving and honoring and the neighbors and family turned out to watch and participate in their way. One of the young men had put out invitations here in Sedona and there were 4 of us lucky ones that ended up going. We were given a traditional Hopi meal including what is called Piki Bread made of blue corn meal, a wonderful stew and one of the ladies made popcorn which was shared by all who were there. We were welcomed and it was wonderful to share in a bit of the traditions of the Mesas. 4

We were received with respect and kindness and it was enriching to hear some of the young ones sharing their stories and ways.It was nice to once again be reminded that Kindness can exist in any situation 足 among friends, family or even strangers. That smiles and an acknowledgment of another's presence can go along way to helping create the loving world we are all desiring so very much. So as we march into this next season and with the traditional holidays coming, please have a read through this month's issue as our writers explore the topics around this far reaching subject 足 Renewable Acts of Kindness 足 take what you will... and spread all that goodness to everyone you meet... Enjoy In Joy Diane

The Heart – An Agent of Transformation It is no secret that our world is changing fast. As you face this period of accelerated change, do you feel you have the tools you need to deal with and adjust to all that is happening? Historically, there is evidence the heart could help us navigate the ever shifting terrain we experience daily. HeartMath Institute’s research shows the heart possesses a unique intelligence that can help you adjust to accelerating change. When you access this intelligence, you will have more clarity and power to quickly clear away unwanted thoughts and feelings and adjust to rapid change with confidence. It’s no coincidence that ancient cultures from Greece to China looked at the heart as a primary source of feeling, virtue and intelligence. Many faiths and traditions refer to the heart as the seat of the soul and pathway to spirit, or the higher self. 6

Western languages refer to the heart as both a physical organ and metaphor for feeling and intuition and the center of personality, or being. People often describe the place where they experience emotions such as joy, love, hurt and sadness as the e heart area. Many languages use variations of these English expressions: take heart, heartfelt and look within your heart for the answer.

7

Scientists discovered only recently a connection between the physical and feeling heart. For example, research at HeartMath Institute shows, someone feeling positive emotions like compassion or appreciation has smooth, balanced heart rhythms. In contrast, someone feeling negative emotions such as anger and anxiety display more erratic and unbalanced rhythms. HeartMath and other organizations’ research shows the heart can be a powerful agent for emotional transformation. This research provides hope for people with depression, anxiety, and other stressrelated disorders. HeartMath has developed powerful, yet simple techniques people can use to improve how they feel, think and perceive life. These techniques help you connect with your deeper heart, increase mental clarity, regulate brain chemicals and hormones and, according to many people, produce a natural high.

Journaling Change in Your World You may find keeping a journal can help you deal with a rapidly changing world. Here are some questions and a tool to help you get started. Write your responses and thoughts in a journal. 1. List which world events in the last few months have caused you to feel the most uncertain, insecure or stressed. 2. List which world events caused you to feel discouraged, overloaded, frustrated or anxious? 3. Practice the Quick Coherence Technique™, a type of emotion regulation researchers developed so people could easily create a state of coherence in about 60 seconds. Quick Coherence helps release stress and stop draining emotions such as frustration, irritation, anxiety and anger. Thoughts and emotions become more balanced and you experience greater ease and inner harmony. 4. After practicing Quick Coherence for a while, return to your journal and write how you feel. • Do you have a new or more balanced perspective? • Do you recognize what drains your energy? • Have you begun to view the world in a new light? Genuinely practicing Quick Coherence while maintaining a journal, may be so rewarding that you’ll want to continue regulating your emotions and sustaining these good feelings, which originate in the heart. Learning the Quick Coherence Technique will help you unleash 8

The Angel Corner ANGEL HEALING & ALCHEMY – MELCHISADEC, SACRED SEVEN & THE VIOLET RAY – HOW TO BEGIN by ANGELA McGERR

(Published by O Books/Axis Mundi) In this article, Angela McGerr introduces her Angelology and offers you a chance to try using a little Angel Healing & Alchemy in your own life, particularly if you need the help of Haniel (Ruler of Venus, and one of Melchisadec’s Sacred Seven) for relationship issues and affairs of the heart.

10

PART ONE: WHAT IS ANGEL HEALING & ALCHEMY Angel Healing & Alchemy is not about turning lead into gold! It is about transmutation of self (Mind, Body and Spirit) into something finer, more balanced and more harmonised than before, and this means in terms of all three aspects of self. What is the use of being physically fit if your mind or spirit is always in turmoil, or vice versa? This is a huge subject which begins simply and then, if you choose to know more, gradually becomes complex. Let’s start simple... But before we start, I would ask you three* questions: 1. First: Do you want to experience some Angel Alchemy? Does your heart urge you to change yourself for the better and by so doing, attain more inner peace? 2. Are you prepared to work at this a bit? There are no quick fixes here! If you want more harmony and balance in life, first you need to know what you do and don’t know about this. Because the spiritual side (and you do know this) is equally important to the physical side, yet with the spiritual self you need to be viewing it with the Eye of the Heart. How do you do this? The angels will assist and support you, but cannot do it for you! 3. If you commit to putting in some effort, you cannot work at everything in life at once, so choose your priority. Then you can select which angel specifically assists with this, and we begin with your Guardian Angels. *The Sacred Law of Three governs much of our lives and spiritual growth, more on this later. Of course you have heard of Guardian Angels, and know they exist to support mankind with selfhealing – a key aspect of our personal, spiritual alchemy but did you know that in fact more than one is assigned to us at birth, with a “brief” to encourage us towards Angel Healing and Alchemy? Or that others come along to guide us at certain times in our lives? There are thousands of angels listed in the old wisdom, with a remit from the Creator to support mankind (in fact All Life on Earth) with spiritual growth. To make a beginning, you can learn about Melchisadec and the Sacred Seven, focusing first on the latter, because they are the Rulers of the 11

Weekdays (and planets of those days). So the simplest way to begin working with angels is to focus on the angel of the Sacred Seven who rules the day that you were born upon – this is one of your key Guardian Angels. This Angel may have been waiting for your call for many lifetimes! Here is a channelling by Melchisadec (“spiritual father to his Sacred Seven) explaining what angels bring to mankind: I welcome you to the world of Angels and dazzling Angelic Light (the highest vibration in your Reality). If you call on us, we offer to illuminate your Mind, Body and Spirit as we connect to you to fasttrack your healing and spiritual expansion. How to start your Angel Healing & Alchemy? I rule Seven and am father to the Sacred Seven Planetary Angels. I counsel you to practice invoking me and my angels and focus on yourself healing and spiritual expansion. As you work with me, resolve to learn also about my Seven to heal your life daily with the daily support of their unconditional love, focusing on these particular issues: Monday: Gabriel Hopes, dreams, aspirations, intuition, feminine balance Tuesday: Camael Courage, confidence, empowerment, forgiveness Wednesday: Michael Strength, protection, personal/absolute Truth Thursday: Zadkiel Abundance, wisdom, kindness, integrity Friday: Haniel Love, including of self, beauty, compassion, joy Saturday: Cassiel Overcoming challenge, peace, harmony, serenity Sunday: Raphael Energy healing, knowledge, decisions, masculine balance Though they can appear in any form, I believe that angels are "Spiritus Dei", the breath of the Creator, Essence of Light given form by Love. When we pronounce an angel’s name out loud this is a sacred sound, a pure vibration like a miniprayer. The first connection you can make is to invoke the sacred name three times, from the heart with loving intent, as this "calls in" the angelic ray. We can learn to feel this energy on hands, within heart or crown, or simply just enfolding us and when we've learnt this we can move on to more sophisticated ways of connecting. Why three times following the Sacred Law of Three of the angel 12

Hermes Trismegistus maximises the energy of our invocations. There are many examples of the power of three: Religious trinities of Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Isis, Osiris, Horus; the three Magi of the Bible. The composition of the world: animal, vegetable and mineral; of man: carbon, oxygen, hydrogen; the measurement of time: past, present, and future. More importantly, perhaps, as previously mentioned, man’s mind, body and spirit; from Hermes Trismegistus/Thoth's Emerald Tablets we learn, amongst other things, in this connection that three are the Paths of the Soul: Man, Liberty, Light.

13

When you wish to invoke your Guardian Angel, always make the Invocation from your heart: Hold out your hands, palms up and relax them. Call on your chosen Angel by name three times, and then make your request, e.g. Raphael, Raphael, Raphael, please be with me, in Love and Light, Love and Light, Love and Light (this shows positive and honest intent). Always remember to thank the Angel. Even if you don’t feel anything (and at the beginning, I didn’t!), your angel will have come into your presence; with practice you will feel the energy and it gets stronger if you commit to bringing Angel Healing & Alchemy into your life. PART TWO: EXPERIENCING ANGEL HEALING & ALCHEMY FOR YOURSELF Now that you understand more about angel energy, and what Melchisadec and his Sacred Seven can support you with, why not try the follow? In our lives there are always relationship issues to heal, so here is an exercise with Haniel, one of the Sacred Seven and Ruler of Venus and Fridays (thought of in feminine terms although angels have no genders and no need of such a thing) This exercise is an example of ones featured in each Chapter of my new book; you can really get to know each angel, talk to them every day, and make them your spiritual friends. Remember, the more you put into this, the greater connection you will develop with these wonderful Light Beings, and the more benefit you will get. Angel Healing & Alchemy with Emerald and Magenta for healing and opening the heart • Emerald green energy helps heal your personal heart chakra of past sadness, hurt or bitterness, allowing it to expand again to receive new love. • Magenta is the colour of the higher heart chakra, which represents unconditional love, i.e. the ability to feel love for all life on Mother Earth. This is the love of the angels, bringing their joyful presence nearer to you. • The symbols for you to focus on are Green for healing personal heart and Haniel's Magenta flower of your higher heart. 14

• Breathe in deep golden breaths, breathing out negative (dark) emotions, until you feel filled with angelic energy, the breath of life and light. • Invoke Haniel asking that pure, emerald Green light flows into heart. • Feel light flowing in, enabling your healing process to begin and your heart to expand towards new love in your life. • When you feel you have received enough Green, now ask in the same way for bright Magenta light to pour into the flower of your higher heart, petal by petal. • When all six petals glow with magenta light, pure, unconditional love and compassion is ignited within your heart. • The more you can send this love and joy to others as well, the more you receive in return. As love flows back into your heart thank all your angels.

Angela McGerr is a former management consultant and trainer whose stressful life was dramatically changed in 1999, when she was “hijacked” by the angels after learning Reiki healing. She became completely immersed in Essene Angelology and Hermetic Philosophy and since then she has been tasked by the angels to share this healing knowledge with others. As the author of nine bestselling illustrated books including a trilogy of angel card sets, she is now writing new, selfstudy books designed to offer readers a structured route of angel

The Power of Innocence

by: Daniel Mitel “The Quantum Field responds not to what we want; it responds to who we are being” (Dr. Joe Dispenza)

I remember a story about Great Zen Master Rinzai. Rinzai was so poor that he was sleeping in a small shed, in an abandoned construction site outside a village. One night a thief entered his shed and of course there was nothing there except a blanket that the master himself was using. Rinzai was sleeping on the floor covered with his blanket but he was aware of the thief and started thinking, “What an unlucky man! He came all the way from the village to find something and there is nothing here. What misery! I am going to give it to him.” The master slipped out from under his blanket, left it there and moved into a dark corner of the shed. The thief took the blanket and went away. Even though the night was very cold Rinzai was joyful that the thief had not gone back emptyhanded. As he sat at the window of his shed looking up at the moon shining in the sky, he wrote a small poem: “If I could have given this moon to that thief, I would have.” What did Rinzai lose? Just a blanket. What did Rinzai gain? The whole Universe. He gained love, happiness, harmony, innocence and trust. 16

Is it possible to arrive at this level of consciousness? Is it possible to reach a place during your spiritual journey where you do what Jesus said, “When someone hits you on one cheek, give him the other. And if someone takes your coat, snatches it, give him your shirt also. You might say that this is foolishness but believe me, Jesus was preparing his disciples for sudden enlightenment. Just think about it for a moment. If you can be so innocent, so trusting that you can love your enemies, as Jesus said to his followers, than no one is your enemy. It is interesting what Dr. Joe Dispenza is talking about with our genes. He said that our genes are as changeable as our brains. There are genes that are activated when we grow through experience, healing or learning and there are behavioral genes that are influenced during stress and emotional arousal. What Jesus and Rinzai achieved, is a conscious shift of behavioral genes to experiential genes. Let me put it another way. Whenever we are in a competitive mood, whenever we are striving to achieve more and more, we are in emotional survival. We do not display that powerful universal energy that we are equipped with. We are in a state of fight or flight. Incoherent, disconnected, mixed up and rambling on without any direction. Our hearts are completely disconnected from our minds and all we care about is getting more and more without caring about those around us or ourselves.

17

I witnessed in the last few months some outstanding gestures of kindness. Hundreds of thousands of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea, coming from their destroyed houses and native homeland seeking refuge. Some of them didn’t make it. Some of them arrived off the shores barely alive. But on the other side I saw people waiting for them with shelter and food. I saw thousands of people in the street demanding that the government help the people that lost all that they had gained in life. I don’t believe that we need to make an effort to activate our experiential genes: the genes of healing, learning and helping. I do believe that we are born with these genes already active. What we need is to preserve that lost innocence. Look at the small children, how natural they share their things, how they play together and give food to each other. The calculating mind hasn’t been formed in them yet. The political instinct is not present yet. What would the calculated mind say to you if someone hit you on one cheek? It would say, “Hit them hard, immediately.” It would say, “Because someone hits you, hit them back. Because attack is the best defense.” But remember that Jesus is trying to prepare us for something else that cannot be measured in terms of this world. Being innocent as our nature is a rare gift. So we do need to go back and remember how it is to be a child. A small gesture of kindness, gentleness and helpfulness makes more of an impact than any thing else in this world. Daniel Mitel is a world traveler Master helping people understand their intimate connection to their Inner Selves. He is the first person in the world (in modern times) to explain and define the origin of the ancient Heart Imagery system. Daniel is a prominent Master of Meditations and teaches worldwide. He is showing the inner power what you can achieve using your Heart’s unconditional love. The Three Great Freedoms insights from Mary through Norma Gentile from Norma: As I look out at friend’s lives, my own life and even world events, it is as if concepts that we engaged with months, years and even decades ago have returned. We have collectively hit a giant ‘reset’ button. Here is what Mary shared with me relating to the general nature of change in our reality, and applying it to one concept that we are actively engaged with, again. from Mary: Your culture is opening to understand that both gender and sexuality are not absolutes, but lie along a continuum. As you loosen the reigns of your polarized reality, you will come to understand your physical bodies as having loving expressions that fall primarily between the poles of feminine/masculine. In this scenario you might better say that the expression of gender and sexuality both exist as spheres, each of these spheres intersecting within your bodies in as many variations as each of your souls have variations. But this is in the far future…At this point in time, you are seeing swift changes in attitudes in the mainstream culture around gender and sexuality that are based upon changes made in the past. Each time your culture holds up an issue to reevaluate, waves of energy from your attention interact with the issue. It reminds Norma of watching ocean waves interact with a sandy beach. With every wave that strikes the sands of a shoreline, some sand moves. It may be imperceptible to the view of the human eye watching. Only when you compare the shoreline day after day, week after week, can you appreciate the action of the waves upon the sand. Those who live along shorelines know that it isn’t just one wave, or one week of waves that changes the beach. Despite the dramatic changes that appear after a major storm these changes do not happen solely because of the storm. Years of waves create the beach upon which the larger storm waves act. 19

This same scenario is true for your collective human consciousness. At this moment your attention is drawn to the grains of sand representing freedoms that are innate to all humans. The freedom to express yourselves sexually in whatever gender body you define yourself in is just one freedom. Freedom to live safely, to worship safely, to love safely…you are experiencing the waves of Spirit acting upon all of these grains of sand as well. And as the waves move the sands here and there upon the shore, the freedoms that are most important for humanity to address come into your daily awareness. The freedom to live safely…It is not a coincidence that waves of MiddleEastern refugees are making their way into Europe, particularly Northern Europe at this time. Nor that individuals are publically choosing to assist them. Most corporation and governments reflect the old qualities of the profane masculine in their principles of organization. Those groups (and some businesses) that honor the principles of the newly emerging Sacred Masculine are in the forefront of offering assistance. Not because they must, but because they believe that it is what is right to do. Governments in particular are will continue to be shamed into following the lead of their citizens who have awakened and are embodying the Sacred Masculine qualities. These qualities are leadership, rather than control, and an invitation to individual empowerment, rather than power over others. You are all redefining the freedom to live safely. Again remember, each new story you see in the news is the equivalent of the action of one wave. Years must pass before there will be a significant change in how government’s political structures cede to the rising tides. The freedom to worship safely…Does it not follow that the trappings of religion are now being exposed when they serve merely to hinder an individual’s spiritual journey? Your polarized world view has created a belief (in most Abrahamic religions of the Middle East and Western countries) of a superior God, made in the image of the male gender. Religions that embrace this male God naturally embrace the dominance of the male gender. And so you have cultures that worship the profane masculine, and all that keeps this quality of nonsacred masculine in its seat of power. Slowly, as you reembrace the role that the Earth and Nature have in your lives even the Western world will experience deity in its feminine 20

form. The Marian aspect of Divinity, the feminine Trinity of the Bible (the three Marys, who now speak) will rise again into prominence as the Divine Feminine is already awakening. The Sacred Masculine, not profane masculine, is Her dance partner. And once these two sacred examples of your polarized reality are understood, your own comprehension of reality will no longer need to be limited to male/female or right/wrong. But the only way to reach this point beyond polarity is to dive headlong into the dual expression of your sacredness here, in this world. As Norma often hears in her daily life, ‘the only way out is through’. The freedom to love safely…This is the last of the freedoms to fully emerge. Based on the time it takes for your world’s cultures to achieve significant shifts in the other freedoms, this freedom will unfold. As religions release rules (a symptom of the profane masculine) in favor of compassion there will also be a recognition of the role that all faith traditions have. Wisdom arising from indigenous cultures will be especially honored 20182025. Mary has asked to share something in closing: It is not that I, nor any spirit need speak to you of what is to come. Your journeys are not written upon the stones of time, nor are your thoughts always observable to those of us within Spirit. We merely seek to offer guidance, as guidance can in some instances assist you in seeing that which is hidden from your view. Our vantage point merely allows us to see around the corner, never to see better than you what your choices might be. It is always with deep compassion and loving kindness that we in Spirit reach out to those of you who have undertaken the great journey within physical form. Our presence, our love is always with you, and upon the Earth. Many, many blessings to you and to all who read this, Mary through Norma Gentile A Sound Healing that goes with this article: Listen Now: http://www.healingchants.com/sh.2015_11.html 21

Coming Home by: Jo Mooy

Without question traveling is a rich experience. It alters our understanding of other cultures and traditions. It broadens our previously held ideas about them. And, through meaningful conversations with people we meet, our ideals hopefully become more universal. But after months of travel, there's nothing quite like coming home. It's that glorious moment when you walk into your house and the familiar settings, the books, the crystals, the altar with its lingering smells of burned down incense, reclaim you. There's a silent pause as you look around and hear the house saying, I've been here waiting余 where have you been? Returning home is another part of the travel experience. But, re足 animating the home can take a while. Travel laundry has to be done. Suitcases, battered by TSA across two continents, need to be put away for another year. Then food and supplies brought in. This sounds rather ordinary and routine. But, in mindfulness practices, the process is quite deliberate and methodical. For when a house sits alone for months, it develops its own silent but very noticeable patterns. A calm stillness is tangible in every room. It's held its own space without benefit of human intervention. The objects, lovingly placed by careful hands, look somewhat tenuous. It's as though each one could easily dissolve into the ether.

So, re足introducing human contact is a slow and sacred process. It must be done gently while respecting the energetic patterns the house created without us. It continued to provide shelter and cooling from the 23

elements, though no one was around to appreciate it. Silly as it sounds, that must be acknowledged. Just as we ask the house spirit to be watchful and protective when we leave for travel, the same way we thank it for its service and duty when we return. Once food has filled the refrigerator it's time for the more subtle animations to begin. Flowers are brought in. Their colors permeate everything. Flowerpresence enlivens the house, telling it, take note, they're back! The flowers never overwhelm, but are a compliment to the décor. But the one thing above all others that signals to the house that “they're back” is the smell of incense. Once lit, the light blue tendrils of smoke linger as the smell of Champa wafts through the atmosphere. Anyone coming in the front door remarks about the signature fragrance. Each sense of sight and smell and touch and taste bring life back into the house. But the powerful sense of sound announces a unique harmony when the various chimes are returned to the garden. The bamboo chimes play a tubular melody against the tinkling pipes of the Woodstock chimes.

24

Then, when the deep vibrant tones of the long Neptune pentatonic tubes sound their baritone notes, the garden and house fall into resonance. This is when the tones and aromas awaken the “housespirit” and it once again becomes a spirithome. While these are most notable animations, balance must always be envisioned. When the elements are in harmony, balance is restored. When the sun moves across the heavens, announcing a new season every three months, balance is restored. When a house has its people, balance is restored. When its people animate the house, balance is restored. Coming Home restores a sacred balance. Gardens, left idle during travel, are weeded and fertilized, and balance is restored. Morning walks on the beach, not enjoyed since June, resume, and balance is restored. Sharing the journey with friends and students restores the balance. In the end, it's these mundane acts of Coming Home that reclaim our space, renew us and make us settled again. In these simple acts, great happiness and gratitude permeate the return to normalcy. May there be balance and happiness when you come home this Thanksgiving.

Passage Into The Holographic Universe. by Tom Kenyon

It weighs about three pounds, yet is so densely packed that it contains more connections than the number of stars in the known universe. If anything qualifies as magic, it would be this micro universe. It simultaneously controls such a vast array of tasks that it puts the most advanced computers to shame. It bends light into recognizable images and translates sounds into language and meaning. And in an extraordinary magical transformation, it changes biology into the experience of mind. This wizard is, of course‌your brain. 26

It has been fairly well established by brain researchers that we use only a small portion of our brain’s immense potential. I compare this to having a state of the art video camera with stereo sound and using it to take Kodaktype snapshots. There are various reasons for this “less than optimal” use of our abilities. For one, it has to do with the ways we are educated.

The Education of Limitation

Our current methods of education are still largely based on methods from the Industrial age – reading, writing and arithmetic. Unfortunately, this way of educating does not prepare children for the demands of the 21st century, nor does it stimulate the brain’s unused potentials. You see, our brain does not switch on new brain cells until there is a stimulus from the environment either internal or external. Research clearly shows that the critical time for brain development is the first two years, followed by a second period of five years. And yet, most children are left to their own devices during the most critical formative time of their nervous systems. Then these children enter an outmoded educational system that stifles curiosity and discourages independent thinking. Most of us are the products of such “education.” There is another reason we use so little of our potential brainpower.

The Corpus Callosum

Neurologically, our brain is split down the middle. In some very real ways, we have two brains inside our heads. And these two brains experience the world in very different ways. While one part of our brain can talk, the other side is mute. The left hemisphere (for most people) is verbal. It talks. It creates and interprets language. It performs this extraordinary feat through two small areas of densely packed neurons in the neocortex. These areas usually sit on the left side of the head around the ear. If these areas are damaged, one can lose the ability to speak and/or understand language. The left side also perceives the world in a logical sequential way. It likes to have everything in its place. 27

The right side of the neocortex, however, sees things differently. For one, it does not speak. For another, it is not particularly logical. It is quite comfortable with paradox, the gray areas of experience. It is also at ease with things being out of sequence. It can spot the hidden patterns in things that seem out of place. In normal states of functioning, there is a certain level of coordination between our left and right sides. And what allows us to coordinate these two perceptual worlds into one whole world of perception is a thick band of nerve fibers in the central area of the brain called the corpus callosum. The more neurological connections presumably in the corpus callosum, the more communication there is between the right and left hemispheres. And co ordination between the two hemispheres allows one to think both cognitively and intuitively at the same time. There are very practical reasons for using both sides of the brain. Back in the ’60s, an employee of a Swiss watchmaker discovered a new way to tell time – the digital clock. Excitedly he took his invention to his superiors. They dismissed it. “This isn’t a clock,” they said. “It doesn’t even have any moving parts!” Their tunnel vision was caused by over dominance of the left hemisphere. They could not see outside their box. The digital watch was just too much out of the pattern they expected to 28

see. A small company called Texas Instruments picked up the patent and the rest is history. Switzerland is no longer the watch capital of the world. As we enter an ever more complex world, we will need to develop greater intelligence and creativity to cope with it. Since the 1980s I have been intrigued with the use of sound and altered states of awareness to increase brain activity and intelligence. Under the auspices of Acoustic Brain Research, which I founded, I even created a series of audiotapes called Mind Gymnastiks. They are used to this day by hundreds of people to increase brain performance. As I continued to explore the use of altered states of consciousness to increase intelligence and creativity, I was struck by similarities in people’s experiences. It was common to report a sense of connectedness between themselves and life in general. Some even used the phrase “the web of life,” as if all beings were somehow interconnected in ways that defied logical thinking. These insights were, of course, shared throughout history by many mystics and “explorers of mind” including indigenous peoples. A look at the descriptions left by these explorers of mind shows this quite clearly. While the mystical description of interconnectedness has a long history, stretching back thousands upon thousands of years, a scientific description of interconnectedness has only emerged within the last thirty or forty. It has been birthed from the science of holography, and is referred to as the Holographic Universe.

The Holographic Enigma

29

Today, holograms are quite common, but back in the 1970s when I saw my first hologram in San Francisco, they were very rare. I remember walking into the small darkened room of the Haight Holo Art Gallery and having my mind blown. The photos seemed to float out of their frames in midair. As I walked around the strange apparitions I could look into the crevices of the images and see things I could have never seen in a normal photograph. Intrigued, I began to study the physics of holograms. A fascinating illogical world started to emerge. As bizarre as it may seem, you can cut off any part of a hologram and the entire hologram can be seen in the piece! How on earth could this be? Well you see, holograms are made by exposing film to lasers, and lasers are comprised of coherent light. Every photon is lined up with every other photon. This is very different from everyday light in which photons are much more helter skelter. Every photon, so to speak, listens to its own drummer. But in lasers, there is only one drummer and all photons follow its rhythm and direction. The methodology used to create holograms doesn’t really concern us here, so I won’t go into it. Besides most people could care less. They just like looking at the strange photos. Now as I said, you can cut off any part of a hologram and you will see the entire hologram in that tiny piece. Every fragment of the hologram carries the entire image. Another way of saying it is that the macrocosm of the photo is held within the microcosm of every piece. This is starting to sound more and more like the descriptions of mystics. When persons enter deeply profound altered states of awareness, there is often a universal experience of interconnectedness. And this seems to occur regardless of the context (or dogma) favored by the individual.

A Meeting in the Park

I recall an unexpected experience with the holographic universe in my twenties. At the time, I was walking through a park near my house. It was dusk and I was overcome by a deep sense of calm. To this day, I have no idea what set it off. I had just been studying for one of my classes at the university, and had decided to take a walk. As I climbed a small hill, I could see a river of cars on the street below. Their headlights were lit, and in the dimming light they looked like a 30

kind of moving Christmas tree. Suddenly I could sense the drivers in a way that defied logic. I felt their hopes, their desires, their dreams, and their fears. Many were heading home after work. Some would come home to an empty house, some to their waiting families. As my heart swelled from the enormity of the perception, I also noticed that the air was filled with some kind of energy. These types of experiences were new to me back then, and I had no language to describe it. But it felt like love. It felt like every atom of the world was shimmering with love, and in some inexplicable way that love was trying to reach out to everyone, to all beings. It was reaching out to me, to the strangers driving home in their cars, to the birds in the trees, even to the field mice in the grass, and to the crickets chirping in the twilight darkness. This went on for about an hour, I think. And then the feelings of interconnectedness began to fade. I walked back home, still under the sense of calm that had started the whole thing. But my mind was stirring. How on earth could something like love be in the very atoms of the universe? I was pondering this when I came to a very odd threshold. I happened to be standing in the dark underneath a large oak branch. The other side of the tree was bathed in light from a street lamp. I was in the dark, and the other side was in light. The moment felt eerie, as if somehow the mythic world and this one had temporarily met. As I crossed over from the dark into the light, I distinctly heard a voice speak to me – “You can never go back. I was stunned. I looked to see if someone was standing beside me because the voice was so vividly real. There was no one there. I walked home in silence. I have since come to know that odd all encompassing love to be quite real. The ancient Greeks called it agape, or divine love. It continually emanates to all beings from every corner of the universe. For those who have eyes to see, it can be seen. For those who have ears to hear, it can be heard. But most of us never enter the deeper states of awareness where it can be experienced directly. Now let me be clear here. That last paragraph is my own opinion based 31

upon thirty some years of personal experience with altered states of consciousness. As an explorer of consciousness, that is my experience and my belief. But it is just a belief. It happens to be shared by other Argonauts of the Mind, but it is certainly not a scientific fact or even a premise. There’s no way to measure love, and measurement is the benchmark of science. Without quantification there can be no scientific inquiry. I have belabored this point because I am in tricky territory. I am straddling the world of science and the world of mysticism. I do believe that science and mysticism will one day fully meet each other, but the methodologies are so different between the two, it requires a different kind of approach than we are used to. But regardless of what the synthesis between science and mysticism finally looks like, we can, I think, look at some common territory.

32

My experience, mentioned above, was a classic mystical encounter. Practitioners of virtually every spiritual tradition on the planet have reported it. Even though the descriptions are often quite different, the essential insights of these diverse traditions are the same – there is an essential interconnectedness between life and the cosmos. How this interconnectedness is interpreted varies according to the spiritual tradition, but interconnectedness shows up in virtually all types of mystical experience. In his book, The Holographic Universe, Michael Talbot discusses the scientific basis for this type of mystical experience. It is great reading, and I strongly suggest it to anyone who is interested in such things. If the theory is correct, we are all part of the universal hologram, an indispensable piece to the cosmic puzzle. Not only this, but because we are holographic by nature, the whole cosmos is inside us. This is indeed one of the fundamental teachings of most Perennial Philosophies and mystical traditions. In some inexplicable way we carry the cosmos within us. And the exploration of one’s own consciousness eventually takes one into the cosmic realms of existence. We are like mobius strips. On one side of the strip we are isolated individuated primate humans. Yet at the same time we exist on the other side of the strip as well. On that side of things we are part of the whole. We are One with all life and the entire cosmos is inside us. Such things seem illogical to our usual ways of thinking. But in altered states of consciousness, we can dip our toes into a different kind of world, a world of extraordinary paradox. I suppose it is because I have worked so extensively in the area of brain research, but I think that a lot of mystical revelation (like interconnectedness) is triggered by changes in brain state. I recall many years ago when I started getting EEG readings of subjects listening to Wave Form (a recording I created under Acoustic Brain Research). Many of these persons had profound non ordinary experiences including sensations of floating, moving through space and yes, feelings of interconnectedness. Now this part was not surprising, but where the brain showed the response was most intriguing. It was at a point on the top of the head. 33

This one area showed massive increases in theta, more than any other areas in the brain. And this point just happened to correspond to the crown chakra in yoga, what is sometimes called the thousand petaled lotus. This chakra is associated with the transpersonal or universal states of consciousness. This was intriguing. And I spent part of my time over the next few years looking at how such a response could be replicated consistently. Eventually I came to the conclusion that such responses are part of a larger brain patterning, and are related to the person’s psychology and values. In other words, while some persons listened to Wave Form and traversed the universe others just got really relaxed. And some just went to sleep! I recall an incident with a cardiac specialist once who listened to Wave Form for the first time. His cohorts had urged him to listen to it since they were considering the possibility of using it in their outpatients’ stress management program. The skeptical doctor donned a pair of headphones and sat back in his executive chair. He reported being bored at first, then kind of dozing off, but not really going to sleep. Then he heard the distinct sound of a locomotive. Wondering how in the heck a locomotive could be in his office, he struggled to open his eyes. To his amazement, the sound of the locomotive was actually the sound of his snoring! Virtually everyone who listened to Wave Form demonstrated that it was highly effective at generating profound altered states of mind, but the content varied widely depending upon the individual. Another part of the mystery, in regards to brain function, came into focus when I came across the recently published work of Andrew Newberg, M.D., author of Why God Won’t Go Away. Using advanced neurological monitoring devices, Dr. Newberg was able to identify an area of the brain that seemed to be crucial in mystical experience. He and his associates looked at brain activity in various meditators. Some were Christian mystics, some were yogis, some Buddhists, etc. Dr. Newberg collected meditators like some people collect baseball cards. He gave each subject a button. When they touched into the deepest state of meditation they were familiar with, they would push it. 34

This marker would be set against the “real time” readings of the brain to see if there were any commonalities in brain states. And there was. Regardless of the tradition, spiritual lineage or methods of meditation used, the same area responded. This common point in the brain was identified as the orientation area. This neurological center is responsible for orienting us in space. When we walk across the room, for instance, the orientation area coordinates sensory information to help us avoid bumping into things. During such moments the orientation area is very busy routing sensory signals. Its cells are very active. But during states of meditation, the orientation area went to sleep! Its cells were simply not processing sensory information. It was, in other words, no longer attending to the perception of external space. I think that this radical shift in the orientation area is probably due to a shift in attention. By design, meditation is a process of attending to internal space. One lets the perception of external space drop away. And what’s left are experiences from the source of internal space itself – the mind. I had mentioned earlier that diverse mystical traditions universally report experiences of interconnectedness. And such feelings are often accompanied by changes in perceived space. The phenomenon of perceiving the holographic universe (or mystical interconnectedness) seems to be intimately connected with changes in perceived space – and time, for that matter.

35

Meditators also universally report the feeling that time becomes profoundly altered during their inner journeys. One client, for instance, experienced the birth, evolution and death of the entire universe with its attending sense of endless time. When she opened her eyes and looked at her watch, however, only about fifteen minutes had passed. There are indeed fascinating non ordinary perceptions that often occur during periods of deep meditation. And one of these concerns the perception of non corporeal intelligences, sometimes called energy beings. In Western culture, such things are deemed non sense, and in a way they are non sensory. One cannot perceive them with the five senses. Rather they are, more often than not, perceived directly through the internal senses of the mind. Many cultures and spiritual traditions talk about these unusual beings. Indigenous cultures, for instance, are quite clear that these beings are real and that they can be interacted with. Many Christians believe in angels and these too, are energy beings. In fact I have had experiences with so many angels over the years, I take them rather matter of factly. Now it may seem like a long leap from the holographic universe or interconnectedness to disembodied beings. And one can, in fact, experience interconnectedness without ever running into one.

Infinite Pool, the CD

But it was an energy being who turned up in meditation one day, and told me that it was possible to accelerate evolution of the holographic brain through sound. This energy being turned out to be an akul, a being known as an “ancient one by Egyptian alchemists. These beings are extraordinarily evolved and this particular akul taught me how to use sound patterns in new ways. My opinion on the matter, having interacted with energy beings from numerous lineages and cultures, is that some of them have invaluable information to share with those willing to listen. My test for validity is 36

whether their suggestions have practical value or not. In the case of this akul, I immediately recognized the consummate level of knowledge he demonstrated. And after recording the program in all its complexity, I was even more convinced that this was something of extreme value. The other thirteen voices are those of another group of beings I have been working with for several years now. Known as the Hathors, they are masters of sound and love. When I first encountered them, in meditation, I had already been working in the area of sound for over a decade. But their knowledge far surpassed my own, and they opened new vistas I never even imagined. For the last few years, my group of mentors has grown to thirteen, and the other voices you hear on the recording are them singing “through me.

These voices create complex standing wave patterns within the brain. As a result, exceedingly intricate geometries are created within these standing wave patterns. This is, for all intents and purposes, sacred geometry in action. 37

The effects of these geometries are multidimensional in nature (meaning that several dimensions of consciousness are accessed simultaneously, depending upon the development and awareness of the listener). It’s hard to describe unless you actually hear it, but I’ll give it a try. Imagine sensing, inside your head, an ever oscillating field of sacred geometry. Sometimes you sense a circle of light, sometimes another geometry. Each point on a geometric shape emits a tone. As the tones switch on, the corresponding areas of the brain associated with those points are activated in ways that are quite unusual. In addition to this, complex imagery arises, seeming to float inside the head. These images flow from one’s own inner world and are natural expressions of multi dimensional consciousness. I believe that the development of multi dimensional consciousness is one of our next natural evolutionary steps and one that can be self generated. In other words, we don’t have to wait for others to develop this capacity; we can attain this for ourselves. There’s good reason to do this – the development of multidimensional awareness increases both intelligence and creativity. In a more esoteric arena, the cultivation of multidimensionality, allows one to “track” several states of consciousness simultaneously. Esoteric knowledge is much more effectively retrieved and utilized by a mind that is capable of multiple awarenesses at the same time. Multi dimensional consciousness is sometimes referred to as the holographic universe, and the portal to this universe is through your own brain. Through this doorway, you can visit worlds and gain insights you never imagined possible. Indeed, after experimenting with this program for the last six months, I am convinced that it will prove to be an invaluable tool for those wanting to access the brain’s extraordinary potentials. © 2015 Tom Kenyon All Rights Reserved www.tomkenyon.com

Tom Kenyon: Biography Musician, researcher, author and therapist, Tom Kenyon, M.A., holds a masters degree in psychological counseling and has over seventeen years of experience in private practice. In the course of his psychotherapeutic work he began to use sound and music to accelerate the therapeutic process. Recognizing the power of sound as a healing modality, Tom founded Acoustic Brain Research in 1983 to scientifically document the effects of sound and music on consciousness. Through his scientific explorations, Tom became fascinated with the use of sound as a means to access altered states of consciousness and the more creative aspects of the brain/mind. In addition, Tom has developed a system of "catalytic sound" using his nearly four足octave range voice to assist others in entering deeply altered states of awareness. A large portion of Tom's current work is in the synthesis of internal alchemy as a means to heighten awareness and to develop spiritual illumination. WHAT YOU SAY IS WHAT YOU GET Get on your road to receiving … now! by Robert Tennyson Stevens

News flash: It is possible to fulfill your dreams. In fact, it can be easy! In this column we give you the roadmap to your own personal success as explained by nationally known facilitator Robert Tennyson Stevens, founder of Mastery Systems, a “human upgrade” company offering university style courses and private consultation throughout the country. Robert has a unique understanding of language and how our pure speech combined with our creative imagination and holistic health speeds up manifestation of each individual’s dreams. And, as he explains, it all starts with changing a few words….

Your roadmap to success includes four main areas of discovery. This article provides an overview of your journey, while future articles will address each area in greater detail. Every station on your trip is important and supports your achievement at the other stations, so remember to enjoy and experience them all! 40

First: Change your language. No, we’re not talking about swearing (although you can change that, too.) We’re talking about the language of selfsabotage, which includes statements such as: • • • • •

I can’t. It’s too hard. This always happens to me. I should / I should have / I shouldn’t I’m trying / I’m working on it / I’m getting there

The fact is, what we say becomes our reality. In addition to describing what our experiences are, our words actually create our experiences. That’s right—our words create our lives by shaping what we think, believe, and feel. It works like this: What we say influences what we think and how we feel, especially when we say it with passion and conviction. And, when we say the same thing often enough, our words influence what we believe. So, our words impress themselves upon our consciousness and help create our experience and perception of reality. If you tell yourself (and others) you can’t or won’t accomplish something, or that you’ll try but probably fail, you will most certainly experience “failing.” If, instead, you tell yourself you can and you will – or even that you choose to be successful at something – your experience begins to shift into a successful one. If you are facing a particularly challenging experience, you can start by saying, “I choose to make this fun and easy.” Sound too simple? It is! Hundreds of thousands of people have dramatically upgraded their lives by changing the way they speak. I call this way of thinking and speaking Conscious Language™. In the next issue, I’ll describe specific areas of Conscious Language™ I call “The Domains,” such as the Domain of Limitation and No Choice, the Domain of Process Without Outcome and the Domain of Codependence. You will be amazed at how quickly your own Conscious Language™ will have you identifying your true feelings at any moment, and bringing clarity to your heart’s greatest desires, which brings us to your next discovery…. 41

Turn Your Emotions into Motion

The word “emotion” actually reflects feelings being resisted. Yet feeling is essential to healing. Rather than resisting our emotions, we benefit greatly by feeling them, loving them and transforming them into what we really choose. For example, if you feel fear about something, would you rather choose to remain afraid, or do you choose to be courageous? Possibly the most fascinating insight to our feelings is what I call the emotional counterfeits. Here is how counterfeits work: If you notice you feel sad, what’s really happening is joy is on the way. Said another way, sadness is the counterfeit of your joy returning. The key is to love rather than resist your sadness, and also to be specific with yourself and others about what you feel and why you feel this way. Allowing yourself to feel with love and forgiveness is the key that turns your emotions into motion. If you notice fear, feel it with love and let it turn into faith. If you feel anger, remember to forgive someone. Rather than blaming others, take loving action. You will be amazed at how this awareness changes your life experience! 42

Ask yourself, “What do I feel right now?” Be specific, personal, presenttense and factual. Remember to state what you do feel, rather than making statements such as: “I don’t feel bad,” or “I’m not unhappy.” Allowing yourself to feel and to be what I call “firstpersonpersonal” will open a new doorway to your health. In the issue devoted to emotions, we will talk more about The Scale of Emotional Harmonics, where we learn how to walk ourselves up the scale from apathy, grief, anger, fear and pain to our enthusiasm, joy and love.

Listen to your body in a whole new way Did you know our bodies reveal our subconscious thoughts and emotions with virtually every move we make? Learning to interpret yours and others’ body language opens a whole new world of communication for healthy relationships and your joyful life – at home, work and play. Our bodies store our genetic and experiential memories and give us a dramatically deeper understanding of where we are in consciousness, because your subconscious actually “speaks” to you through your body – through your symptoms, itches and scratches, as well as hand gestures, breathing patterns, and bodily functions. Your key to a profound level of knowledge about yourself is understanding how to translate body language, and then use what you learn to identify what you really desire (instead of what your otherthanconscious self may be telling you). When you remember your heart’s greatest desires – which we all have ability to do you can make your highest choices easily. In the issue devoted to Body Language Translation, we’ll cover more specifics about common gestures and symptoms and what they mean. Learning to interpret your body language as well as others’ body language on this profound level is essential for our effective communication, healthy relationships and fulfilling lives.

43

Activate Your Imagination

Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge." I add to that, true imagination is not moving the blocks of our seen reality from one spot to another; it is the pouring forth of an entirely new reality according to the well spring of dreams within your heart. In fact, your imagination holds the key to your heart’s desires. Your imagination is pure. It doesn’t perceive the obstacles we sometimes create in our subconscious mind. Your imagination can help you determine your mission in life and your highest choices in each moment. One of the most effective ways to tap into your creative imagination while reshaping your reality is to imagine from your desired outcome, rather than imagining what you’re working toward. 44

So, for example, if one of your goals is to be slim and fit, imagine – in great detail – what your life is like as a slim, fit person. What are you doing, exactly? Who is with you? What surrounds you? What are you wearing, seeing, smelling, tasting and feeling? By imagining what your life is like once you have achieved your heart’s desires, you are upgrading your consciousness about what’s possible, even true, in your life. Once you have imagined your desired outcome already here you can learn to live from your outcome as your truth. As you do so, your subconscious mind brings you your new reality from where and when you are imagining and living from. Again, this may sound too easy. In fact, it is easy, and it works! Many people have written about their success derived from activating their imaginations, including the wellknown author, Neville. In the issue devoted to imagination, we’ll offer exercises for activating your imagination to have your highest choices in any situation and ultimately to fulfill your life dreams. Many thousands of people have realized great success using our four fold approach to mindbodyspirit wellness. This overview is intended to give you a peek at the powerful tools available for you to upgrade your life in several ways that compliment each other and dramatically increase your effectiveness. The best part is – you already have them! They exist inside each one of us – pure speech, feeling, body language, and imagination. Your job is to make the most of what you already have. I look forward to showing you how in future issues. Yesterdays Grief by Carl Franz

“Don't you just love Fridays!” Exclaimed the man on the car radio and I allowed myself a caut¬ious smile. I was on rout to Hull for my last client of the day and I might just make it home early for once. The hands free phone unit jostled on it's dash mounting, reminding me not to go tempting fate, it was¬ only three pm, and in the maintenance and repairs business anything could happen. The narrow country road opened out into a wider, faster two lane, just as the radio began playing “born to be wild.” eliciting another reckless smile to spread across my face as I squeezed the accelerator pedal down a little more. Then the blank display on the phone blinked awake with an anxious beep and glowed the colour of faded poppy petals. 46

My heart sank as I read the callers name. It was Jane, one of the service operatives. Of all the people I didn't want to hear from on a Friday afternoon, it was Jane. I knew just what was coming. “ It's broke again... it went and snapped when I looked at it..... It just came off when I wiped it down.... It's always saying error when... I reluctantly prodded the answer button. “Hi Jane what can I do for you?” I said trying and failing miserably to keep the dread out my voice. “Carl! It's done it again, this stupid machine, it's always doing it. This piece of junk, it just won't reset when I close the service door. It's broke again and it has to be running over the week end!” I realised my teeth had clamped shut and prised them apart again to run through the reset procedure with her. She of course fought me valiantly all the way. “I did that already... it's broke like last time, It's no good... that won't work, It needs fixing properly, I told you.” Her voice scraped finger nails down a blackboard inside my head; 47

steadily gaining in volume and pitch, but it was the little nuances that really got to me. “Again.....always..... Needs fixing properly.” I pressed on with the routine she could have missed something. I might still have an easy day. We made it through the diagnostics and reset sequence just as I passed a road sign saying, Welcome To Hull. “I told you it's broke,” She sulked with a hint of triumph when the error failed to clear. “You've got to come and fix it, I can't leave it like this, you know what the managers like.” “OK Jane, thanks for trying.” I said without feeling one iota of gratitude. “I should be there in a couple of hours.” “Well OK,” She replied. “I’ll let them know your coming, I can't hang around here any longer, it's Friday and the traffic gets really bad in York.” I wondered if she realised just how much that galled me. I have a theory about the narrow twisting roads of York. It goes like this…they were squeezed out from a giant wobbling toothpaste tube in the twelfth century by a drunken Celtic knot worker. The roads writhe like trampled snakes under rumbling lorries and chugging doubledecker buses, while the cars compete for room among them, nudging bumper to bumper throughout the ironically named rush hour. Eventually, after crawling my way through a procession of boxed in pressure cooked commuters to the client’s office, I was somewhat relieved to quickly find the fault on the machine. It was nothing more than a piece of forgotten cleaning cloth jamming a lever. However this discovery was a doubleedged sword for me. On the one hand it was easy to remedy, all I had to do was remove the offending article. But Jane had probably left it there, and if she had not been in such a hurry to condemn the machine she would have seen it herself and saved me all this trouble. I found myself feeling just a little negative towards Jane. Then the next Monday morning I got a call from my manager. There had been a complaint from Jane about “my machine” which “needed fixing properly.” 48

I really tried hard to forgive and forget. Life is too short as they say, but wasn't there something more I could do than just wait for the next Jane episode? The negativity I was feeling towards her was blocking me from my usual method of distant healing, but I remembered some advice from a good friend who happened to be, among other things, an extraordinarily gifted healer. She once explained to me something about reaching out to difficult people through a kind of third party she called the higher self, which is the part of us we almost余 but not quite leave behind for lack of space here. I thought I might try this approach so I found a time and a place to meditate as best I could. The only way I could imagine reaching my higher self was by working up through the chakras余 so this is what I did. I began by breathing and sending down roots into the earth. I felt the grass, the soil and then the deeper richer earth beneath it. I breathed out the negative feelings allowing them to dissipate and gently filter away. My roots reached down further into the cool damp clay余 seeking out the ground water where I knew I could explore the wonderful Otherworld, but this was not the time now, and I began to journey upwards again, bringing the good earthy energy back with me余 breathing it up into my chest and head. 49

My base chakra, I noticed was in need; the colour was far too dull. I worked on it; turning it slowly and gently until the colour glowed a little brighter. I made a mental note to look after myself better in future and continued to the soft orange glow of the second chakra, then the third wider beacon of yellow and up to the fourth green flare from my heart. (I made another mental note to get myself balanced. I was all over the place.) The blue in my throat was brighter than I had seen it for some time, I took that as good news. The indigo chakra responded well too. Determined to get there, whereever I needed to be, I moved up to my seventh chakra, and travelled up through a milkyway beam, which seemed a little narrow and I couldn't help but slip a little outside it. I was so tempted; I just knew I could whizz off to just about anywhere at that point and maybe I was supposed to? Single mindedness was obviously not coming easily to me, but for the sake of peace I continued. Then I was losing my way again, it was too much for me. In desperation I called out for help and healing for Jane and myself. Almost immediately I saw the outlines of ships in the twilight. Some had funnels while others had masts. It was like some turn of the century, maritime museum. Two or three of the vessels were sailing in and out of port as I stood observing at the quay. I noticed a woman nearby dressed up in an old fashioned costume straight out of a Dickens novel, complete with bonnet. She was also watching the ships. She cut a very forlorn figure in the growing dusk and I knew she had been standing there for a, long, long time. A wave of the most harrowing aching grief welled out from her, and an overwhelming sense of loss choked my throat with helpless despair. I reeled with the unexpected emotion and then reeled once again with shock as I recognised her. It was Jane. I wanted to comfort her in some way but everything was beginning to dissolve and I returned to me. A few days later she called me again. Typically I was at least Forty miles the wrong way; heading towards Hull. You had to hand it to her, she knew how to irritate the hell out of me. 50

“Carl! I'm at the college in Bishopsgate, York. Where are you, are you in York?” She was well and truly marooned, locked out of her vehicle and miles from anyone who could help. Of course she could, (and should,) have called her manager but then she would have had to wait until they sent over another busy operative, (who was probably some eighty miles away,) for which she would be harshly disciplined. Jane was in big trouble and the only person who could help was, (needs fixing properly,) Carl! I took a deep breath. “I'm coming.” I said. “Hang on, don't worry, I'm coming.” I sounded just like the B.B King song. When I walked in doing my patented cavalry trumpet imitation and grinning like a fool, her face lit up with the tired heartfelt warmth of someone seeing their ship come in at long last. And from that time on, we worked together in a new way. I wonder if it was her past life I witnessed? Or, a lesson in compassion for me, maybe both. It would have done no good asking her to look into past life regression or anything like that, but I sent her healing whenever she came into my thoughts and we both felt a whole lot better for it. Carl Franz I am a retired engineer living in the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire England. Often to be found striding along the country paths along side the rivers or ambling through the local woods, lost in my thoughts and happy as a lark. I enjoy painting and writing. Through them, I try to describe the spiritual experiences encountered during my daily and nocturnal travels. These experiences have always heavily influenced my life and now I have time to explore them and perhaps share my deep interest in all peaceful spiritual practises, which celebrate and respect nature. The One True Act of Kindness by Ken Page

Often when we think of an Act of Kindness, the first thought comes: doing something for someone else. Paying It Forward. Helping Those Less Fortunate. Giving so Others can Receive. These are all loving and definitely kind acts of human nature. The reason there are so many of us living on this planet today: so we can all help each other in the process called Life. Yet 足 what if we told you that there was one singular act of kindness that would continue 'paying forward' for the rest of your life? And, that this one act could grow and expand to include more kindness for your 52

family, your friends, your community and even the energetics in your own world? Would you consider performing this one act of kindness each and every day? Especially since it only takes about two minutes of your time, with no other cost?

Now, what if we told you this one true act of kindness begins with: LOVING YOURSELF FIRST! We have heard you say 足 'Oh 足I love myself'... Do you? Really? Unconditionally? Or is it more 'I'll love myself when I lose 5 pounds', or 'I'll love myself when I find that right someone else to love', or... so many other reasons. There's lots of discussion and teachings about having unconditional love for others. The word 'Love' itself is open to even more discussion, and then 'unconditional love' yields volumes of interpretation, especially as there are so many conditions that all humans place on 'love'. Saying 'I love you' 足 as long as you don't hurt me, for then I withdraw my love'. Therefore, based 53

on our experience with so many different people of culture, religion, nationality, race and age: love is conditional. In actuality, if we can't love ourselves without conditions, how can we possibly fully embrace unconditional love for anyone else? Loving Myself First means: having compassion for myself 足 accepting myself without judgment, without opinion and fully and totally allowing myself to BE exactly who I am. Knowing that I am the only one who can really change myself, I must in this moment 足 love myself and accept responsibility for all my creations.

54

So ask yourself again? 'Do I love myself unconditionally?' Wouldn't this be the best Act of Kindness you can do to love yourself as Creator loves unconditionally? There are many books that have been written about loving yourself. Yet it still appears most people don’t know how or haven’t come to that place of loving the self first. For many of us in our older generation, it comes from our upbringing: our parents taught us that to think of ourselves first was selfish. We were chastised to always think of the other person first and place our own self, our needs, our desires and our wishes last. Their generation came from the previous generation dictating that suffering was being like God – embracing the suffering of Christ. So we grew up thinking that putting others first and suffering ourselves to be last was the way to live life in the right or Godlike way. Thankfully we see there are many who have realized this to be foolish, and not in keeping with the peace, joy and unconditional love and compassion of Creator. When we teach, we relate this analogy: When we are in a plane, the steward/stewardess instructs us that if the oxygen level within the plane gets low, a mask will drop down in front of us. We are to place that mask over our own face first – then proceed to help anyone else. Embracing the fact that we are only as good in helping others as we are in helping ourselves, the simple act of kindness must first be for ourselves. Accepting with compassion all the things that we don't like about ourselves. Holding the good feelings and vibrations within us so that we truly believe that we love ourselves and that we deserve this kindness toward ourselves. When we love ourselves we are no longer emotionally dependent upon another individual. That is an act of kindness towards others. When we love ourselves, we are no longer reactive to situations that could mormally trigger frustration and anger. That is an act of kindness towards others. When we love ourselves we can have unconditional compassion for everyone and everything in our world. Total acceptance without opinion or judgment for everyone and everything that is the best act of kindness we can give back to the world. 55

If you will begin a simple technique (taking you only 8 seconds each time) throughout the day (for a total of about 2 minutes) you will first gain compassion for yourself. Then you will begin to like yourself. Shortly you will begin to love yourself unconditionally; in that moment then present in every moment. Here’s the simple technique that you can use yourself. It will help you change your thinking and perceptions about yourself and your world within three days: http://www.kenpage.com/healingtechniques/moment.html It would be great if reading the full story would help even just one person change from where they are now to being kind by first loving themselves. Then the opportunities will be revealed on how we can best show this same loving kindness to the world. The Ripple Effect of Your GraceFull Life by Dr. Gail Brenner

“Each decision we make, each action we take, is born out of an intention.” ~Sharon Salzberg It never ceases to amaze me how much everything matters. To say that all things are interconnected is an understatement. Really, everything you do, say, and think is part of the whole and, in some way, affects not only yourself, but everyone and everything else. This is a powerful teaching that invites each of us to take full responsibility for the choices we make. Even the tiniest ones have a ripple effect. Do you come from fear or from love? Are you in resistance or aligned with life? Answer these questions truthfully, and you will begin to understand the practical significance of your daytoday choices. 57

The Ripple Effect A friend of mine manages a restaurant where the chef is a tough, controlling character. Some might call him a bully. He rules the roost by forcing the orders to be prepared in a certain sequence even though it doesn’t make sense, then doesn’t allow the kitchen staff to speak to one another to coordinate. This leaves the salad maker standing idly when there are salads to be made and all eight food preparers shaking in their boots in response to his angry outbursts. See the ripple effect? One person affecting eight people directly who have low morale and undoubtedly take their work stress home. Let alone the servers, the management, and the restaurant patrons waiting for their food. Then the effect on everyone they come into contact with…and on and on it goes. There must be a better way. This morning I stopped at a diner for breakfast. I was greeted by a lovely Indian man who literally bowed to me in greeting and was served by a waiter just oozing with sweetness. I left with my heart singing, and now you are the fortunate recipient of their kindheartedness coming through me. May it ripple out everywhere.

The Ultimate in Taking Responsibility

What is amazing is that being a bully or an angel is under your control. Your starting point may be a place of suffering and alienation. You might be absorbed in selfpity or terrified to connect. This is not a problem because transformation is always possible. Once you understand that what you say, think, and do matters, you can become meticulous about the choices you make in any moment.

Your Unique Ripple

Begin by contemplating the ripples that flow out from you. • Does your way of being serve you and everyone else? • Are you at ease enough within yourself to choose wisely, not haphazardly? • Are you lost in emotional reactions, or are you conscious and aware? I spoke with a 94yearold woman recently who told me she is ready to die. She looks back on a life welllived, feeling satisfied and content. 58

She is at peace. I know I don’t want to be on my deathbed with doubts and regrets, and I imagine you don’t either. The moment you have is this one, and the potential impact of your choices – every single one of them – is profound.

Your GraceFull Life

You can’t help but be part of the whole. This is not only your life that we’re talking about. How you speak to your loved ones, the energy you bring to your work, how you spend your down time – it all matters. If you are stuck in being reactive, if you find it difficult to make choices that are beneficial in any area of your life, then commit to taking care of business. Look into yourself and tell the truth so your habits can begin to unravel. Make a project of being aware, even in the hardest of situations. Get the help that you need so you can live your gracefull life. When you truly understand the power of all your choices, what do you choose? I’d love to hear…
