committed to protect environment: PM Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has already ratified the ‘Paris Agreement’ in the international domain and thereby stands committed to collaborate in global efforts to protect the environment.
“P rospe ct s of cl i mat e change, global warming and environmental degradation endangering the future of the human race on Earth are real – critically real,” he said in his message on the World Environment Day observed on Monday. He said, “We cannot deny the alarming rate at which glaciers are melting, nor can we turn our attention away from the depletion of the ozone layer. The visible increase in the frequency of natural calamities, including disastrous rainfall and flooding, in recent times is just one indicator. Those few who are denying this reality even today are jeopardizing the whole of humanity.” H e s a i d , “ T h e Wo r l d Environment Day is actually
a day for serious introspection. It is a day to comprehend the true significance of Connecting People to Nature. Nations all around the world need to carefully review their policies and practices, and try to improve their understanding of how best we can all collaborate to synergistically protect and preserve our common habitat.” The Prime Minister stressed the need to synchronize policies, develop and adopt new environment-friendly technologies, and ensure that all our developmental efforts lead to outcomes that are also environmentally sustainable. “Finally, we need to earnestly accept that environmental impact transcends borders, and that the non-cooperation
of even one nation can become a woe for all others,” he said. The Prime Minister stated that, “In this context, it is a matter of immense satisfaction for me that the Government of Pakistan is mindful of its responsibilities towards the environment. We have ensured that our industrial, infrastructural and associated developmental initiatives are environment-friendly.” He said, “We have made environmental impact studies a mandatory part of all development projects, irrespective of their size. US lawmaker to Israelis: 50 years of occupation must end US Se n at or a nd for me r Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has called for an end to Israel’s “50-year occupation” of Palestine, saying peace means security for both Israelis and Palestinians. “We are now in the 50th year of Israel’s occupation, an occupation which denies basic Palestinian rights while failing to deliver Israel real security, Sanders said in a video message to Israel’s left-wing Meretz party. The five-minute video was broadcast at a conference Sunday marking the end of the Six Day A rab-Israeli War in 1967 and “50 years of Occupation” “I know so many of you agree with me when I say: this occupation
must end. Peace – real peace – means security not only for every Israeli, but for every Palestinian. It means supporting self-determination, civil rights and economic well-being for both peoples,” he added Uri Zaki, chairman of the Meretz central committee, praised Sanders for stating the truth about occupation and said the party also holds the same view. Sanders, a leftist politician who is Jewish, took the opportunity
to attack US President Donald Trump, who has voiced strong suppor t for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while turning a blind eye on the Tel Aviv regime’s undermining of the so-called peace process. Sanders warned that “demagogues who are scapegoating minorities” were on the rise, citing Trump and his visa ban against citizens of several Muslim countries as an example.

Afghanistan should focus on improving security, not blame Pakistan: Maleeha Afghanistan should turn its attention to reversing the deteriorating security situation in the country instead of blaming Pakistan, a top Pakistani diplomat has said, says a press release received from New York here today. “We are ready to help address the shared threat of violent extremists to the region but for that, Afghanistan should desist from externalizing its internal problems,” Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi, said in response to questions during an interview with Voice of America (VOA). “The surge in violence (in Afghanistan) seems to indicate the spreading influence of ISIS about which we have long warned,” the Pakistani envoy pointed out. “The ability of violent groups to infiltrate Kabul’s green zone also suggests insider connections which are even more worrying,” Ambassador Lodhi said, referring to a truck explosion on Wednesday that reportedly killed nearly 100 people and wounded hundreds of others near the presidential palace and foreign embassies. Recalling that Pakistan had strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Kabul, she said, “The rapid slide in the security situation is troubling not only for Afghanistan but for all its neighbours, especially Pakistan.”
Those attacks, she said, also seemed to be aimed at scuttling plans for initiating a renewed peace and reconciliation effort by elements opposed to the process. “But whoever may be responsible for the latest spate of brutal attacks, the Afghan government would do better to focus on this growing threat rather than hurl baseless accusations against Pakistan,” Ambassador Lodhi said. ”The timing of the attacks on Kabul suggests those who carried them out want to sabotage any renewed effort towards a negotiated peace.” She added, “Terrorism and violent extremism are a common enemy and need a joint resolve to fight it.” Meanwhile, the UN envoy to Afghanistan called for measures to halt the cycle of violence following Wednesday’s deadly attack. “I urge everyone not to respond to violence with more violence, Tadamichi Yamamoto, the UN Secretary-General’s
Special Representative for Afghanistan, said referring to Saturday’s attack, which reportedly killed at least seven people and wounded dozens of others attending a funeral in the Afghan capital. Yamamoto underscored that the incident “follows so much violence this week across the country, in Khost, in Kabul and in other provinces.” “Meaningful steps must take place now to obtain an immediate, nationwide halt to violence. I encourage all parties to enter discussions toward that end. The United Nations stands ready to help,” the envoy said. He also urged all members of the international community to help put an end the cycle of violence and support the foundations of a lasting peace. The upcoming Kabul meeting on regional peace and security provides an immediate opportunity in that regard.

Sweden’s National Day – the origins

source: sweden.se ince 1983, Sweden has celebrated its National Day on 6 June. This is the date on which Gustav Vasa was crowned king in 1523, which laid the foundation of Sweden as an independent state, and on which a new, important constitution was adopted in 1809. The original idea came from Artur Hazelius, who founded the Skansen open-air museum in Stockholm and held a national day celebration there on 6 June as early as the 1890s. At the 1893 World Fair in Chicago, Sweden presented Midsummer Day as a form of Swedish national day, so in the 1890s Sweden celebrated the occasion twice a year. In 1916, 6 June became the Swedish Flag Day, celebrating the fact that Sweden had acquired its own flag following the dissolution of the union with Norway in 1905.

Development Cooperation with Pakistan
P
source: swedenabroad.com akistan was one of the earliest and largest recipients of Swedish Governmental Development Co-operation support. This co-operation, which was poverty-oriented, was cut down during the 1970s, after the creation of Bangladesh. However, from the 1980s until the end of the 1990s, Pakistan was one of the biggest recipients of contract-financed technical assistance from Sweden. In 1998 it was decided that the co-operation between Sweden and Pakistan should focus on equality of opportunity, respect for human rights, governance, the fight against corruption, as well as for a sustainable environment. In 1999, this programme was revised and new guidelines recommended that Swedish support to Pakistan should aim at strengthening democratic institutions in the country and at increasing the respect for human rights. Support to the civil society through NGOs was included. In 2007 Sweden’s Development Co-operation underwent a major reform aiming at making it more effective by
focusing bilateral Co-operation to fewer countries. This did not however affect areas such as humanitarian aid, good governance and support to civil society in the case of Pakistan. Today, Swedish Development Co-operation with Pakistan has the following profile: • substantial humanitarian aid; • substantial contribution to the European Union´s development programme; • substantial contributions to the UN and international financial institutions development programmes; • support channelled through Swedish NGOs; • Pakistani participation in Swedish international training programmes; • minor projects (technical assistance) aiming at strengthening democratic institutions, as well as support to institutions in the economic sphere or projects that in other ways promote good governance. Projects in the field of environment can also be considered.

Open Aid to the world
O
source: swedenabroad.com penaid.se visualises all of Sweden’s aid to the world based on open government data. Transparency is imperative to ensure quality and accountability within the aid sector. In order to combat poverty as effectively as possible, aid has to be open to public control and ideas from more sources. In 2010, a transparency guarantee was introduced to Swedish development assistance. The guarantee means that public documentation and information about Swedish aid are actively made available on the Web. The website for this is Openaid.se, a web-based information service about Swedish aid built on open government
data. Here, the public, aid actors and other stakeholders can follow when, to whom and for what purposes aid funds have been paid and with what results. Openaid.se shows the available contribution data in as much detail as possible. Other agencies and ministries that handle aid funds are also presented on the site. A new version of Openaid.se was launched in September 2014, which is entirely based on the IATI-standard (International Aid Transparency Initiative), an international standard for accounting of open aid data that is used worldwide. Openaid.se is also developed with an open-source license, which means that anyone is allowed to reuse the software developed for openaid.se.
Trade between Sweden and Pakistan
B
source: swedenabroad.com ilateral trade between Sweden and Pakistan dates back to the founding of Pakistan. Swedish export was growing steadily until Pakistan performed its first nuclear arms test in 1998, which led to international isolation. As a consequence, external trade fell sharply. During recent years economic reforms, privatizations and liberalization of trade have started to bear fruit. In spite of the current difficult security situation the economy as well as the external trade is now growing. The value of Swedish export to Pakistan was approx. SEK 2 805 million (USD 440 million) in 2010 and the Pakistani export to Sweden amounts to approx. SEK 780 million (USD 120 million). It should also be mentioned that Swedish international chain-stores buy Pakistani goods for export to other markets than Sweden. Major Swedish export sectors are paper and pulp, telecommunication equipment, machinery, trucks, chemicals, metals and defense equipment. Swedish multinational companies such as Ericsson, Saab, Tetrapak, Volvo, ABB, Atlas Copco, Oriflame and Alfa Laval dominate the Swedish exports. Pakistan exports to Sweden consist mainly of textile, garments, leather and sports goods. Ikea, H&M and Lindex are major buyers of textile products and have their own offices in Pakistan. The following Swedish companies have made direct investments in Pakistan: Ericsson, Tetrapak, Millicom, Saab and GAC. Sweden and Pakistan have concluded agreements on mutual protection of investments (1981) and avoidance of double taxation (1986). As a member of the European Union (EU) since 1995, Sweden adheres to the common trade policy established by the EU. The Swedish Embassy in Islamabad is active in promoting
Swedish exports to Pakistan. Information about Swedish exports can be found in the Swedish Export Directory at www.business-sweden.se The promotion of bilateral trade is a common endeavour of the Embassy of Pakistan in Stockholm and the Swedish Embassy in Islamabad. 10 reasons to visit Azerbaijan
Archaeological data prove that Sheki city which is located in 380 km to the west of Baku, may be considered as one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus: many findings in that territory are more than 2500 years old. Sheki has been well-known as the city of craftsmen and tradesmen since old times. Merchants and staplers of the Great Silk Road countries came here from all parts of the world. The silk from Sheki was awarded a medal in the World Exhibition in Lyon in 1872 while Sheki was called “Azerbaijan’s Lyon”. Elegant embroidery, along with the silk, turned into a piece of admiration in similar exhibitions all over the World. Sheki was and remains the handicraft centre of tekelduz chainstich embroidery (plant patterns on velvet, woolens or goatskin). Dumas the Father who visited Sheki, “bought 2 embroidery saddles for 24 roubles. You can’t buy them even for 2000 franks, or to tell the truth, you can’t purchase them for any price”.
KARACHI The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is expected to significantly improve economic conditions in Pakistan. The major projects listed on the CPEC portal, developed by the Pakistan-China Institute, include transportation infrastructure, energy production, industrial cooperation and the Gwadar port city. However, surprisingly, the potential impact of CPEC on the agricultural sector is rarely discussed in major economic forums. Recent media reports on CPEC’s long-term plan, a study by
fire-worshipers’ community in Baku. Travelers who visited Absheron often described mysterious flames in their travel diaries. Alexandre Dumas, the famous writer who visited Baku in 1858, left interesting notes about Baku flames as well.
Since the old times Azerbaijan is known as the Land of Fire. And this is not by chance - Absheron peninsula is rich with oil and gas. Burning gas outlets at the surface were considered a divine secret and attracted here people from all corners of the World: fire worshipers gathered in Baku in ancient times and built their temples on sacred flames. One of those temples is an ancient Zoroastrian temple of flame – Ateshgah. It is located 30 km from the centre of the capital in Surakhany settlement. The temple ages back to the 17-18th centuries and was built by Indian

Furthermore, this network will provide agricultural producers an opportunity to export not only to China, but also to other countries as CPEC improves Pakistan’s trade integration into the global economy. As rural employment and agro-based industrial output rely heavily on the agricultural sector, it is essential to determine the impact of CPEC on the sector and the existing trading patterns of agricultural products. Agriculture contributes approximately one-fifth to Pakistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) at constant base prices of 200506. About $3.7 billion was
generated from food products in FY16. The major contributor was rice, which contributed around $1.8 billion. Total export receipts from the food product dropped more than 15% between FY15 and FY16. Exports of basmati rice, which contributed 32% to overall rice export receipts in FY16, declined more than 31% in the year. However, exports of other types of rice increased 7%. The textile sector recorded a decline of 5.8% in export receipts between FY15 and FY16. Receipts from raw cotton, which stood at $153 million in FY15, fell more than 49% between FY15 and FY16.

Men who suffer from prostate cancer often report a difficult in getting and maintaining an erection; however, this is also a very common condition that becomes present with most men throughout the aging process. Depending on the underlying cause of your erectile difficulties, medication can often be the solution. Don’t feel shame in telling your dector the problem. You will be able to get to the root of the problem. Painful Ejaculation This is caused by the inflammation and enlargement of the prostate, which in turn can block and obstruct vital passageways. However notice this may not be due to cancer . BPH can also be the causal factor behind painful ejaculation, as well as a number of sexual transmitted diseases. Neverththeless a physical examination and blood test, specifically the prostate-specific antigen screening, or PSA is required. Blood in Urine or Semen Blood finds its way into urine and semen when the prostate is inflamed, enlarged and infected . While blood in the urine and semen may also be due to benign prostatitis or a sexually transmitted disease. However it depends upon the diagnoistic result whether to take medicine or undergo surgery. Pain in Lower Back or Hips Symptom of prostate cancer is associated with the spread of the malignant cancer cells into the surrounding areas, including the bones, which is a natural path for the cancer cells to take which are already present in the prostate. It is advisable to see your doctor as quickly as possible If you notice that you are experiencing chronic and prolonged pain in these areas. Preliminary detection is key to successfully treating prostate cancer, much like any other form of cancer. Weakness or Numbness in Hands or Feet If prostate cancer or even BHP is the diagnosis, very often the prostate will grow so enlarged that it will eventually begin to press down on the spinal cord. When something is pushing on your spinal cord, the result can be a form of paralysis that presents itself as a weakness, numbness or tingling in the legs and feet. While this paralysis is not permanent, it is an indicator that immediate medical attention could be required. Loss of Bladder or Bowel Control If this happens to you, as it can be an indication of a more advanced cancer or other serious ailment. Tell the doctor of losing control of blader or bowl.

Alongside with historical sights, modern Baku has gained new symbols. First of all, it is the famous Flame Tower complex composed of 3 buildings. One tower is a residential building, the second one functions as a business centre and the third tower is a home for the Fairmont hotel. The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre has gained not less fame – it is a complex building which includes a congress-centre, a museum, a library and a 9 hectare park. The author of the design of the building is the famous architect Zakha Hadid. By the way, construction of the Flame Towers and the Heydar Aliyev cultural Centre were widely covered in the programs of Discovery and Science Channels. And finally we have to mention ultra-modern Crystal Hall concert complex at the State Flag Square in Baku where the “Eurovision-2012” contest was held. The facade of the Crystal Hall is equipped with plenty of modern dynamic light units allowing to create different light effects in the hall and outside. The lighting on the external walls reflected the colors of the state flag of each performer when they were appearing on the stage during ‘Eurovision’ song contest.
