PROJECT
The former station of Benalua, now disused, was the railway arrival point to Alicante from the main ports of the Mediterranean Sea. When we think about its new use as CASA DEL MEDITERRANEO, we think that the character of the meeting point should always remain; the last trains left and new uses arrive, new uses as pieces able to accommodate them. Firstly, we will recover the initial volume of the station, dispense with those bodies that overtime have been attached to it, then recovered their morphology, completing the two wings that form the platform area. So our proposal places a piece at the entrance to the platforms area, facing the Mediterranean Sea where lies the hall / auditorium for 450 people, consisting of three consecutive halls that can also function independently. This piece shares the covered square where multiple activities can be developed collectively.

logements Intergénérationnels
The urban strategy is to complete the block with a building that will continua the avenue image. It begins from a volume which turns, both in plan and elevation, adapting to the surrounding conditions, respecting the vegetation, and avoiding to offer a too blunt image.
Younger and older people have lots of things to contribute each other, architecture should just offer the possibility for these relations to come up on a natural way. The project development takes place around a constant process of social investigation, which allows us to approach different users profiles and their needs.

The commercial area has the most public character, and it must be in direct contact with the street and the neighbourhood, so that it is located on the ground floor.
The equipments for older people have an external administration and host activities for both internal and external users, it has access from the street and also from the corridors.
The communal equipments are distributed around the building elevations, always connected by the circulation areas and the out-look terraces, following the idea of generating relation flows among users.

Starting on a location with a high self identity, we consider the project like a unique opportunity to restore and give coherence to a disaggregate territory, considering this as a social requirement.

The main idea is to create a reference on a regional level and, at the same time, to develop a connection on a local level through the creation of several programs which generate activity around our area. To accomplish this an strategy is adopted at various levels through a common language of an organic nature that allows a perfect adaptation to the topography, adopting a program focus on art and where space for the public component gets a great importance. 28
This issue is approached from a rational point of view, linking each of the spaces proposed by a repetitive module associated with each quarry and linked by a continuous green path that embraces the entire project.
