NMA un-mandated organization: APO
DIMAPUR, APR 6 (NPN): Angami Public Organisation (APO) has termed the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) as “un-mandated” and a “non-entity” since its leaders no longer enjoyed the support of Naga women tribal bodies. APO president Razouvotuo Chatsu held that at present, the situation in Nagaland was volatile and highly charged due to the controversy over urban local body (ULB) elections. APO said it was deeply anguished and concerned to observe some Angami women, as NMA leaders, “going around meeting different authorities and also organising various meetings
and seminars, adopting resolutions pertaining to issues of common interests”. This was contained in a letter addressed to chief secretary where APO described NMA leaders as lacking credibility and therefore, demanded that their representation in any form should be declared null and void. It also requested the government to restrain and refrain NMA while being approached on social and political issues so as to avoid hiccups among the Nagas at large.
APO said the truth was that NMA had ceased to exist long before and that even Angami Women Organisation had dissoci -
ated itself from NMA and hence held no accountability in any manner. Therefore, APO asserted that anything done, with the request of these NMA leaders, was for their sheer personal interest as they no longer enjoy the blessings and support of the women of Nagaland.
Pointing out that there were some who had the nature of flaring up issues in the guise of working for public interest and social order, APO alleged that the present NMA leaders were one such, and therefore, appealed to the state government and all concerned to beware and restrain from the NMA members till further notice.

NMA flays high-handedness of authorities
DIMAPUR, APR 6 (NPN): German Consul General Manfred Auster, who was among the delegates at the recently held B20 conference from G20 nations, found himself in spot when the planned meeting with Naga Mothers Association (NMA) at Hotel de Oriental Grand on April 6 resulted in an embarrassing situation. According to statement from NMA, a sixmember delegation had gone to the hotel to meet the German Counsel General at his invitation. On arrival, NMA said its members were accosted by dozens of police men and women
in civvies at the lobby who informed them (NMA) that they were ordered to stop them from meeting with the German Counsel General Manfred Auster. According to NMA, its members arrived at the hotel in pursuance of the invitation from the office of the German Counsel General weeks ahead on March 21,2023 for the meeting on April 6. NMA said the police in civvies did not even allow its members to enter the hotel restaurant for tea as they waited for Manfred Auster. NMA said one Addl.S.P “rushed to the hotel” and conveyed that
if they wanted to meet Manfred Auster then they would have to first meet top officials of the home department.
NMA said it refused the request since its members were invited and had not sought any appointment to meet with the German Counsel General.
NMA said Manfred Auster then appeared at the lobby and apologised for the obstruction caused.
However, NMA said it was able to share “various concerns on the situation in the state” while standing in the hotel lobby and “surrounded by police and G20 staff”. NMA expressed
resentment at the “disrespect show to the women delegation, which consisted of former members of the State Women Commission.”
According to NMA the purpose of the meeting was to discuss further projects for women which it shared earlier last December with the German Counsel General.
NMA said if such was the way in which the state government treated top leaders of a foreign country and stops discussion on investment and grants, then what was the real purpose of hosting the G20 and B20 summit in Nagaland?

98pc of Kaladan project completed in Mizoram
AIZAWL, APR 6 (PTI):
Ninety-eight per cent of work on a cross-border road under the Kaladan MultiModal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP) to link south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai town and Myanmar’s Sittwe port has been completed, officials said.
Public Works Department officials, led by its Engineer-in-Chief C Lalchhuana, informed Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati on Wednesday that 98.01 per cent of the road component of the Kaladan project on the Mizoram side (NH-501A) has been completed so far.
Lalchhuana said that the 87.18 km stretch of road between Lawngtlai and Zochachhuah under the bilateral project is expected to be completed by June.
“Two more bridges are yet to be completed along this stretch of road. The construction may take
Sikkim logs 23 new COVID-19 cases
GANGTOK, APR 6 (PTI): Sikkim reported 23 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the virus tally to 44,390, a health department bulletin said on Thursday. The Himalayan state now has 42 active COVID-19 cases, while 43,064 people have recovered from the virus, it said.
A total of 500 people have succumbed to the disease so far, while 784 others have migrated to other states, the bulletin said. In the last 24 hours, a total of 165 samples have been tested for COVID-19 while the daily positivity rate is 13.9 per cent, it added.
two months and we are hopeful that it will be completed by June if there is no further obstruction from landowners,” Lalchhuana told PTI. There are eight bridges and more than 420 culverts on the 87.18 km stretch of the cross-border road under the KMTTP, he said.
KMTT Project was launched in 2008 under the
erstwhile UPA government as part of the Look East (Now Act East) policy. The project, when completed, would first link the Indian seaport of Kolkata to Sittwe seaport in Myanmar across the Bay of Bengal. From Sittwe, the route will continue over river Kaladan to the western Myanmarese town of Paletwa.
Paletwa will then be connected to the IndiaMyanmar border by a 110-km-long road.
The international border (Zochachhuah or Zorinpui) will then be connected by road with Lawngtlai town in Mizoram.
The construction of the road component on the Mizoram side began
in 2010. Though the road project was initially scheduled to be completed by 2014, it has been delayed due to strikes by landowners in areas from where the project passes through over the issue of compensation, Lalchhuana said.
Last month, Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh told reporters in Aizawl that the Kaladan project got delayed due to the political situation in Myanmar.
During the meeting with the Governor, PWD officials also informed him that six more projects are in the pipeline in the northeastern state.
A proposal for the six projects, including a permanent bridge over Tuivai River to link Mizoram’s northeast with neighbouring Manipur, has been sent to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), they said.

Intruder rapes
minor in Delhi
NEW DELHI, APR 6
(IANS): A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an intruder who had entered an under-construction building in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area with the intention of robbery, a police official said on Thursday, adding that the perpetrator has been arrested. According to the police, the girl’s parents, who worked as labourers at the building, were not present at the time of the incident which occurred on Tuesday. They had gone to collect their wages. Taking advantage of their absence, the accused entered the underconstruction building to loot valuables. “The intruder then saw the victim and her 18-year-old sister alone and threatened them with a knife. Oppn parties vow to strengthen unity
NEW DELHI, APR 6 (PTI): Opposition parties, including the Congress, TMC, BRS and Samajwadi Party, came together in a show of unity on Thursday and accused the Modi government of getting the second half of the budget session washed out, while asserting that if this attitude continues, the country will move towards a “dictatorship”.
With tricolour in hand, several Opposition MPs marched from Parliament to Vijay Chowk and then representatives of 19 parties held a press conference at the Constitution Club where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders resolved to take the Opposition unity further.
Kharge accused the Narendra Modi government of not walking the talk on democratic principles and causing disruptions in Parliament to divert attention from the Opposition’s demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC)
probe into the Adani issue.
In a boost to Opposition unity, the Trinamool Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Samajwadi Party, which had been blowing hot and cold on sharing stage with the Congress on earlier occasions, participated in the march and the presser to give a joint call against the government on issues such as the Adani matter, price rise and alleged attack on democracy.
In his remarks at the press conference, Kharge said, “The budget of Rs 50-lakh crore was passed in just 12 minutes, but they
(BJP) always alleged that the opposition parties have no interest and they kept disturbing the House.”
“The disturbance was created by the ruling party. Whenever we made a demand or gave a notice, we were not allowed to speak. This has happened for the first time in my public life of 52 years and never has such a thing happened earlier,” he said.
He said the government talks a lot about democracy, but it does not walk the talk.

Excise policy case: Delhi HC seeks CBI’s response to bail plea of Manish Sisodia
NEW DELHI, APR 6
(PTI): The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the CBI’s response to former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in the excise policy scam case being probed by the CBI.
Justice Dinesh Kumar
Sharma issued a notice on the senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s plea, which claimed he is “totally innocent” and a “victim of political witch-hunt”, and asked the agency to state its stand. “Issue notice. Let reply be filed,” the judge said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had
Manish Sisodiaarrested Sisodia for alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 on February 26 following several rounds of questioning.
On March 31, a trial court here had dismissed Si-
sodia’s bail plea in the matter, saying he was “prima facie the architect” and had played the “most important and vital role” in the criminal conspiracy related to alleged payment of advance kickbacks of Rs 90-100 crore meant for him and his colleagues in the Delhi government.
Before the high court, senior advocates Dayan Krishnan and Mohit Mathur, appearing for Sisodia, challenged the trial court’s decision and pointed out the other accused in the case were either not arrested or have been granted bail.
T R Baalu claimed that the BJP is jittery and after the Bharat Jodo Yatra it is afraid of Rahul Gandhi.
“It was because of the government’s hegemonic attitude they disrupted the House. First time treasury benches disrupted proceedings,” he said, adding that all issues would be discussed going forward and Opposition strengthened.
BRS MP K Keshava Rao said the parties on the podium had “distance and differences” between them but were now coming together.
“You have right before you all the Opposition parties who maintained some distance and had differences but today you are seeing how it is evolving. We are becoming so strong that all the efforts to divide us have failed. We are today united right before you on the ground,” he said.
“What happens tomorrow please let us leave it because we are working to see how we come together,” he said.
A K Antony’s son Anil joins BJP, father says its ‘wrong and very painful’
NEW DELHI, APR 6 (PTI): Anil Antony, son of former Defence Minister A K Antony, joined the BJP on Thursday and slammed a section of the Congress leadership for “serving the interests of a single family” instead of working for the country.
Anil Antony, who headed the Kerala Congress’ digital media cell before quitting the party earlier this year, was welcomed into the BJP by Union ministers Piyush Goyal and V Muraleedharan, as the ruling party seeks to increase its foothold in the southern state.
In Thiruvananthapuram, Congress veteran A K Antony, a close confidant of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, termed his son’s action “wrong” and “very painful” for him.
Goyal described Anil Antony as a “very grounded political worker” who was convinced that the BJP cared for the country and also shared the prime min-

ister’s vision of sustainable growth. Anil Antony had resigned from the Congress in January after criticising the party’s stand on a controversial BBC documentary BBC on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kerala Congress accused Anil Antony of “betraying his father” on “Maundy Thursday”.
“Today (Maundy Thursday) is the day of Judas (Iscariot) who betrayed Jesus Christ for a payment of 30 silver coins. Many such things will happen on that day. This (Anil joining BJP) should also be seen as such an incident,” Kerala
Congress President K Sudhakaran said in Thiruvananthapuram. Soon after joining the BJP, Anil Antony began his address with a verse ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah’ from epic Mahabharat. The verse loosely translates into ‘Dharma (religion) or state of law protects those who protect it’.
“I believe in Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah. Nowadays, some Congress leaders believe that it is their dharma (duty) to serve the interests of a family. But, I believe that it is my duty to serve the nation,” Anil Antony said.
BJP MLA taken into preventive custody in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD, APR 6 (IANS): Suspended BJP MLA T. Raja Singh was taken into preventive custody by the police in Hyderabad when he was heading to participate in a Hanuman Jayanthi rally.
Mangalhat police arrested Raja Singh, who represents Goshamahal Assembly constituency, and hifted him to Bollarum police station. The controversial MLA questioned the police action. He said that every year he participates in the Hanuman Jayanthi bike rally.
“Arrest by Telangana police on the instruction of BRS govt just before joining Hanuman Janmotsav rally
in my Goshamahal constituency,” tweeted Raja Singh.
“Now Hindus can’t even take part in the rally also in Telangana?,” tweeted the MLA. He said he did not know why he was arrested. Raja Singh slammed KCR government for what he
called its repressive actions. He alleged that there is 8th Nizam rule in Telangana. Police apparently took him into preventive custody in view of his provocative speech during Ram Navami procession in Hyderabad on April 2. Afzalgunj po -
lice had booked him under Sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
The greatest love story
For Christians throughout the world, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary(Friday ) and His resurrection(Sunday) remains at the core of their faith. This is an observance that involves people fasting and praying. Many church services are held in the afternoon, usually around noon or midday to 3pm, to remember the hours when Jesus hung on the cross. Many churches also observe the day by reenacting the procession of the cross as in the ritual of the Stations of the Cross, which depicts the final hours of Jesus’ life. Processions are held in many countries depicting Christ’s agonising and humiliating procession to the site of his crucifixion at Calvary or Golgotha. The bible says that Christ was betrayed by one of His disciples(Judas Iscariot) after which he was tried by the Jewish religious court (the Sanhedrin). Christ had to suffer the worst humiliation and pain. This was the price He had to pay in order to shed His blood as atonement for the curse. The Crucifixion is confirmed by at least one undeniable secular source, the Roman historian Tacitus (55-120 A.D.). He wrote that the “founder of this sect (the Christians) was executed during the reign of (emperor) Tiberius by the Governor Pontius Pilate” (Tacitus, annals XV). It was in keeping with God’s promise made in Genesis 3:15 to redeem mankind from the curse brought by the fall of the first created man, Adam and woman, Eve when they disobeyed God after falling prey to deceit. Christ’s birth, death and resurrection were already foretold from the beginning which were confirmed by later prophets such as Isaiah (7:14)seven hundred years before His birth. According to the bible, Christ was obedient to death even though at times, the humanness in Him begged to have the cup taken away from Him(Matt. 26:39,42). However, despite the human and natural inclination, Christ ultimately chose the path of obedience. It was this obedience that opened the door for salvation of mankind. mocked and scourged. He suffered hours of limitless pain, cycles of twisting, joint-rending cramps, intermittent partial asphyxiation, and searing pain as tissue was torn from His lacerated back from His movement up and down against the rough timbers of the cross. Christ had to pay the ransom for the sins of mankind to reconcile man with God and because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”?( Hebrews 9:22). Jesus revealed that He was bringing a new covenant in His blood (Luke 22:20).
After Jesus ascended to heaven, God revealed to the apostle Peter that Jesus’ followers did not need to follow every single one of the Old Testament laws (Acts 10-11). Thus, when Christ was crucified at the cross of Calvary on Friday and resurrected on the third day(Sunday) which He spoke of often, God fulfilled the divine purpose of redemption of His creation through Christ. While humans understood freedom from the socio-political angle; God’s promise of freedom was eternal life through Jesus. The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ fulfilled God’s promise of redemption from sin or separation from God. Christ’s death and resurrection also confirms that no man comes to the God the father except through Him. Christ also confirmed He was indeed the saviour because He fulfilled the promise through His death and resurrection.

The Collision of God and Sin
…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree… —1 Peter 2:24
The Cross of Christ is the revealed truth of God’s judgment on sin. Never associate the idea of martyrdom with the Cross of Christ. It was the supreme triumph, and it shook the very foundations of hell. There is nothing in time or eternity more absolutely certain and irrefutable than what Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross— He made it possible for the entire human race to be brought back into a rightstanding relationship with God. He made redemption the foundation of human life; that is, He made a way for every person to have fellowship with God.
The Cross was not something that happened to Jesus— He came to die; the Cross was His purpose in coming. He is “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8). The incarnation of Christ would have no meaning without the Cross. Beware of separating “God was manifested in the flesh…” from “…He made Him…to be sin for us…” (1 Timothy 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:21). The purpose of the incarnation was redemption. God came in the flesh to take sin away, not to accomplish something for Himself. The Cross is the central event in time and eternity, and the answer to all the problems of both.
The Cross is not the cross of a man, but the Cross of God, and it can never be fully comprehended through human experience. The Cross is God exhibiting His nature. It is the gate through which any and every individual can enter into oneness with God. But it is not a gate we pass right through; it is one where we abide in the life that is found there.
The heart of salvation is the Cross of Christ. The reason salvation is so easy to obtain is that it cost God so much. The Cross was the place where God and sinful man merged with a tremendous collision and where the way to life was opened. But all the cost and pain of the collision was absorbed by the heart of God.

Bearing the cross with dignity
The greatest lesson that we can learn from the death of christ is His pure, unbending and unconditional love for us ,while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.Not for His gain but for the greater good of mankind making them realize that only Love can conquer death .. “Greater love has no one than this,to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”.[John 15:13] For God is LOVE –His love is pure,a love that holds no record of wrong,a love that suffers long,a love that always seeks the good of others,a love that doesn’t insist on its own way,a love that does not parade itself ,a love that is
not puffed up,a love that is not provoked,a love that does not rejoice in others inequity but rejoices in the truth,a love that bears ,believes all things, hopes all things and endure all things.[ 1 corinthian 13:48] and therefore we also Love because He loved us first : He is the source of the energy called Love.Love never fails [1 corint 13;8]
The cross symbolizes the atoning death of Jesus ,who died for my sins and the sins of all humanity. The pain, insults, persecution and finally death He had to endure viewed through human eye was a complete defeat but in reality Jesus at the crucifixion and ascension defeated all
the principality and authority of this world and also of hell disarming them.he has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the son He loves , in whom we have redemption through His blood... [col 1;13-14]
So in a realistic world we can say that all our fa ilures, sicknesses, losses,s inful nature…have been nailed to the cross by Jesus. In earlier days crucifixion was one of the worst form of death. Therefore cross is a power symbol and the greatest sacrifice ever made to remind us of the heavy price Jesus paid for redeeming us of our sinful nature, all our debts have been cleared by Him and
so we have to carry our Cross with DIGNITY.. and draw nearer to the one who was hung on it as He is the one and only way to the truth and life…claming Victory of this world and over death.
Before Jesus was arrested ,He went to pray at Gethsemene to spend time with the Lord alone as he was sorrowful and troubled to the point of death. And when Jesus was betrayed by Judas ,He allowed it to happen even though He had prior knowedge of it.. all this and more had to take place in order for the scriptures to be fulfilled.
A pure soul had to be sacrificed ,an unblemished one ,one that was
accepted..and Jesus being the unblemished one had to be sacrificed How did He do it?the mindset of Christ at the cross was humility ,obedience and total submission to the father’s will. The bible says in Phillipian 2:5-8 , ‘Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ, who being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God but made himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant and coming in the likeness of man.and being found in the appearance of man,He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death on the Cross’..and therefore God exalted Him and gave
Him name above all names so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow of those in heaven and of those on earth and of those under earth. When a child of God seeks to have his /her mind transformed to be like Jesus ,it is then that the holy spirit is able to work that transformation. This mindset helped Jesus overcome the fear of death. Therefore if we have to follow Christ and take up the cross,we will have to surrender our life and die to OURSELF and if we are to seek to save our own life we will lose it but if we lose it to Christ we will find Life in Him.
Walk as children of light: Ephesians 5:8
The word of God in the bible revealed that Adam and Eve, the very first man and women who were created after the image of God and in the image of his likeness in order to reproduce many children of God disobeyed God’s commandments by taking the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Thus mankind had also fallen into iniquity sin just as the archangel Lucifer did- (Read in Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:13-17). The fallen angles and their hosts have landed upon this earth to set up their kingdom according to their own wish and will- we or God words named it as the kingdom of Darkness.
Humanity has continued to stagger under Satan’s kingdom of darkness ever since Adam’s fall from the dominion of the earth given to mankind (read Genesis 1:28). Indeedbecause mankind obeyed Satan and worshipped him, we became his slaves (read Romans 6:16). The dominion was handed over to Satan (read Luke 4:5-6).
We read in Mark chapter one “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; BEHOLD I SEND MY MESSANGER BEFORE THY FACE, EHICH SHALL PREPARE THY WWAY BEFORE THEE.... John did baptized him in the wilderness and preach the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.... and it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straight way coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened and the spirit like a dove descended upon him. And there came a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.
And immediately the spirit driven him into the wilderness and he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan and was with the wild beasts and the angles ministered unto him. Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying, “the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent ye and believe the gospels”
(Mark 1:1-2,4:9-15) Our lord Jesus told us what should be our priority “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all the things shall be added unto you”.
The very phenomena of ‘human beings’ means that we are beings of faith. We are beings of deep understanding and profound realisation of the human consciousness. That we have the power to create, we have the power to transform and we have the power to plan, organise, follow up and manifest.
Human Beings are beings of optimism.
Optimism also falls back and relies on the same internal experience of having successfully manifested life either through wishes, desires, deeds, thoughts, words, or intentions all put together. May it be faith or optimism. What comes to
(Mathew 6:33) In the Old Testament time people who live with good conscience or who obeyed God’s Ten Commandments and God’s laws are regarded to be righteous people but God’s words say... “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident for the just shall live by faith”. (Galatians 3:11, read also Galatians 2:116, Romans 3:21-26).
The only way to be righteous is to receive the righteousness of Jesus by faith according to God’s plan of redemption and salvation of humanity and only after that to be in submission to the kingdom of God.
“For he (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of god in him “ (II Corinthians 5:21). “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves but unto him which died for them and rose again” (II Corinthians 5:15).
Just give up yourself and trust, it is that simple but still many Christians do not know to do this or how it is done. Just call on Lord Jesus and say I believe you died on the cross for all humanity’s sin and my old man in which sin dwelleth was also crucified with you, buried symbolised by the immersion of my body under water during water baptism and I also had been given your resurrection power when my body rose up from water along with your rising up from the dead. Now I surrender myself to you all in all to live a new life with your life and power. Now I will trust you and I will live in you and for you in your kingdom. Now I am yours. I believe you do accept what I present to you and you have taken possession of my spirit, soul and body. Use me to do your good purpose, I trust you completely in Jesus name I pray Amen. When I focus on and align myself with priorities of the kingdom, God’s order comes into my life and his promises to supply all my needs. I have proven this principle in my own life for many years.
In practising kingdom’s living in our daily life, renewing the spirit of our mind helps us to know or discerned the things that are good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Read Romans 12:1-2)
Christians do not despise the temporal blessings and prosperity but we must be aware that our everlasting welfare is not dependent upon them. These blessings may come and go but true Christians abide in God where no evil can touch them. Any prosperity or success outside the parameters of the bible amounts to nought when weighted against eternity. Many Nagas have indeed died early because of corruptions. We should aspire to obey the teachings of our Lord Jesus in Luke 6:34-38; Mark 10:29, 30. I have proven in my own life God’s faithfulness in fulfilling His promises .Indeed our trueCreator God is a God of love .He is not against humanity but His word says your iniquity(sin) separated you from God and the wages of sin is death IF YOU ARE NOT YET
A CHRITIAN KNOW THESE TRUTHS
As the only sinless being, Lord Jesus suffered the full penalty justice demand for all humanity’s sin against God and wrong doing to others. Every evil thought, word, attitude, and actions sin produced or will produce was paid for by Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. All those who reject God’s offer of forgiveness of sin, to all those who will not believe and accept God redemption and salvation plan through his begotten son Lord Jesus Christ will be forever sealed off, in an isolated and equally unimaginable place of torment by everlasting burning fire and brimstone. (Read Revelation 20:12-13).
Lord Jesus himself told,”I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6) IfGod were your father, ye would love me: for i proceeded forth and came from God: neither came I myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand me speech? Even because you cannot hear my word”. (John 8:42-43) Our Lord Jesus had taken Choo Nam, a Korean-American women married to Roger Thomas in a transformed body seventeen different times during the period 19th February to 8TH April in 1996. Let me quote some words of Jesus and Cho Nam’s testimonies. Our Lord at the ending part of the Excursion took Choo Nam to the New creation Kingdom of God, New Jerusalem in another New Earth and New Heaven. (Revelation 21:14) ( I suggest you buy and

Choo Nam was allowed to have a glimpse of real hell where his parents and some of her family, relatives and friends who died as Buddhist were being tormented. She was also shown the fates of Disobedient Christians and sinful Christians.
Before showing the tormenting hell, Lord Jesus took Choo Nam to the top of the mountain and she looked out over a brown valley filled with dead grass where a multitudes’ of people wearing sand-coloured robes roaming aimlessly in the vicinity of the Pit’s Yawning Mouth. Their heads were hanging low and they looked very dejected and hopeless.
“Who are these people, Lord” I asked-
“These are disobedient Christian”.
“How long will they have to stay in this barren lifeless place?
“Forever, my daughter, the only ones who will enter my kingdom are the pure of heart-my obedient children.
I could see fumes and dark smoke rising from deep pit... and inside I could see flames scorching a multitude of people who were screaming and crying in the agony that only the severely burned truly know. The people were naked, without hair and standing close to one another, there was no escape for those who were captured in the pit... the flames would leap out unexpectedly, and then as soon as they seemed to think that they were safe, another fire would burst out. There was no rest for the unfortunate victim of sin, they were doomed to spend all eternity being scorched and burned.
Who are these people? I asked.
“My daughter, these people did not know me”.
He made this statement with a voice that heaved with grief...
“Lord what about my parents?’ I asked. I know that weren’t saved but they were good people”.
“ I am sorry, my daughter, there is nothing, I can do for those who do not know me”. My Lord Jesus voice was so sad when he said this... It was frightening disturbing scene. The Lord said,” I want you to see this again”. Choo Nam writes,” it was so hard to look into the pit of hell, but immediately my attention was directed toward a figure that was waving at me... and was speak-
The power of positive thinking
light is positivity in regular terms.
Positive people generally turn things around in their favour. They can always see the positive side of it all. They can always feel and realise the positive perspectives and perceptions in every situation and circumstance, this positivity makes them optimistic and faith-driven, which gives them self-confidence, and self-conviction, and this also gives them the power to manifest, power to create.
Positive people are generally always on a high, whenever they are confronted with situations that are a little place displacing,
perturbing, or disturbing, positive people look at the positive side, accept the situation, and the circumstance with grace, take responsibility for contributing towards that situation and turn it around.
Positivity comes at the most basic level, at a slightly higher level comes optimism, and at the highest level comes super faith/ superconsciousness, so when people start their lives being positive they will translate into being successful, visionary, have profound perspectives and perceptions, have a deep understanding of all that is happening around, absolute awareness and will be
able to react and respond to situations the way they are supposed to be.
Doubts, apprehensions, insecurities, fears, and phobias generate thoughts that could be debilitating to the human body.
They throw the body out of gear in a form of constriction and restricted flow of vital fluids, vital oxygen, and vital functions of the organs. Such thoughts don’t support cellular regeneration and they don’t support digestion.
They don’t support growth hormones, they don’t support the nervous system. They disturb the orchestration of all the

She stretched out her right hand and waved it at me saying, “So hot, so hot! “ I remember so clearly her eyes and my eyes meeting and the way her eyes begged me to help her... I knew that I could not help her even the Lord could not help her because she didn’t know him... NextI saw my father, stepmother, and close friend who had died... My nephew who died when he was twenty..They all were in hell... I had been crying the whole time, wailing like a child. The pit of hell was a long way from us but it was as ifI had telephoto lens that enable me to see these people very closely.
Lord Jesus told Choo Nam,’’ I know your parents and friends were good people in many ways but they were not saved. That is why this is the only place for them. It is here they will have to spend eternity.
My Father loves all of His children, but He has given them certain laws that he expects them to live by. When saw your loved ones I felt deeper pain than you did, but I must live by my Father’s word. Once a person goes to hell, there is no way for them to ever get out again. I want the unsaved to know this-the reality of hell forever.I love every one of my children, but I cannot force anyone to love me or obey me. If they will open their hearts to me, then I can help them to believe in me and love me. I want to save as many souls as possible. I want believers everywhere to preach the gospel. This is the most important to me”.
Lord Jesus told Choo Name: “I choose my children who are pure and obedient-those who put me first in their lives.
So many Christians know what I want them to do but they will love the things of this World more than my words. The children who live with my word, according to my word are the only ones who will enter the mansions I have prepared for them, like the one you saw with your name on the door. No one can have both this (worldly) kingdom and my kingdom. If anyone enjoys the world than me, he or she cannot enter my kingdom (see Mathew 8:10-12).

PM slams oppn for ‘badshahi mindset’
NEW DELHI, APR 6 (PTI): Setting his sights on BJP win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked party workers not to be complacent as there is a view that “no one can defeat” the party next year, and slammed the Opposition for a “badshahi” mindset and insulting poor and backward classes.
Addressing BJP members at the party’s 44th foundation day, he said those fighting an “existential battle” have become desperate at the exposure of their corruption and are conspiring against his government, which is committed to taking tough steps to rid India of corruption, nepotism and law and order challenges.
“Full of hate, these people are speaking one lie after another. They have become restless and desperate at the exposure of their corrupt deeds. They can see now only one way out. They are openly saying ‘Modi teri kabar khudegi’. They are issuing threats to
Narendra Modidig (my) grave,” he said.
Modi cautioned party members, who heard his nearly 50-minute-long address at over 10 lakh places where it was broadcast live, against complacency, noting that it is already said that no one can defeat the ruling party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
“Despite being the world’s biggest political party, we don’t have to be complacent. People have already started saying that no one can defeat the BJP in 2024. This is true but as BJP workers we have to win the heart of every citizen of the country,” he said.
“We should not be confined to winning polls. Our goal is to win over the hearts of crores of people. We have
Restoration of peace in border areas key for India-China ties
NEW DELHI, APR 6 (PTI): Against the backdrop of the prolonged military standoff in eastern Ladakh, India on Thursday once again made it clear that return to normalcy in the country’s relationship with China will require restoration of peace and tranquility in the border areas.
The Indian and Chinese troops are locked in a standoff for three years at certain friction points in eastern Ladakh even as the two sides completed disengagement from several areas following extensive diplomatic and military talks.
“The restoration of normalcy in our relationship will require restoration of peace and tranquility in the border areas which have been disturbed since April 2020,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said at a media briefing. Bagchi said this when asked to comment on remarks by a Chinese diplomat that the situation in the India-China border areas is stable.
“As the external affairs minister said, the presence of a large number of troops

to fight every poll with the same hard work that we have put in since the time of Jana Sangh,” he said and lauded the contribution of the party workers. With the BJP accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of insulting backward communities, Modi slammed some persons with a “badshahi” mindset for insulting the poor and backward since the party stormed to power in 2014 and accused them of treating people like slaves for decades after independence.
The BJP has empowered these people’s voices, he said. The British might have left in 1947 but they left behind the seeds of treating people as slaves in the minds of some, he said.
“This class of people prospered a lot in the years after independence who considered power their birthright,” he added in a clear swipe at the Congress which ruled the country in the early decades after freedom. Modi also accused the Congress and other political
parties of being tied to nepotism, dynasty, casteism and regionalism.
The BJP represents a new culture of taking everyone along, he asserted.
“The BJP has taken birth from the womb of democracy, and has been nourished and nurtured with the nectar of democracy,” he said.
A host of opposition parties, including the Congress, the Left and several regional parties, have come together over the alleged targeting of their leaders by central probe agencies in corruption cases and also over the issue of Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha following his conviction in a defamation case last month.
Without referring to various allegations levelled by these parties against his government, the Prime Minister said they have been “battling an existential crisis” and are resorting to levelling allegations and hatching conspiracies against the ruling party.

The MEA spokesperson said that till the situation in border areas see a return to peace and tranquility, “we cannot foresee normalcy in the overall relationship.”
Asked about the date for the next round of military talks between the two countries, Bagchi said it will be made known when it is finalised.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar last month said the situation along the Line of Actual Control(LAC) in eastern Ladakh remained “very fragile” and is “quite dangerous” in military assessment because of close deployments of troops of both sides in some pockets though “substantial” progress has been made in the disengagement process in many areas.
India has been maintaining that its ties with China cannot be normal unless there is peace in the border areas.
NEW DELHI, APR 6
(PTI): The Budget session of Parliament ended on Thursday amid noisy protests by the Opposition over the Adani issue, a matter which virtually washed out the 25-day-long second leg and all six bills including the crucial Finance Bill were passed without any debate. The Rajya Sabha recorded its lowest productivity since 2019, functioning only around for 24 per cent of its scheduled time. In the Monsoon Session of 2021, its productivity was around 28 per cent. When Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar were delivering their valedictory addresses in the respective House, opposition members were raising slogans.
While the Opposition pressed for a probe by a joint parliamentary com -
mittee into the Adani issue, BJP members countered by demanding an apology by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his “democracy in danger” remark made in the United Kingdom.
Rahul Gandhi since stands disqualified as a Lok Sabha member following his conviction in a criminal defamation case by a Gujarat court. As opposition members raised slogans and displayed placards demanding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into allegations of fraud against the Adani Group. Birla said, “You have lowered the dignity of the House. This behaviour is not good for parliamentary system and the country.”
“This House is always for high level of debate and discussions. But you systematically disrupt the proceedings which is not good,” he
lamented. This session, Lok Sabha functioned for only 45 hours as against its scheduled 133.6 hours because of disruptions, according to a think tank that compiles the data.
Rajya Sabha worked for just over 31 hours out of 130 hours in the session, the data said. The Budget session of Parliament was held from January 31, 2023 to April 6, 2023, with a recess from February 14 to March 12.
According to data compiled by PRS Legislative Research, the productivity, which is the percentage of time the House functioned against the total schedule, was 34.38 per cent for the Lower House in the Budget Session.

The Jammu and Kashmir Congress on Thursday slammed its former member Ghulam Nabi Azad, saying his statements on Narendra Modi are contrary to the speeches he gave in Parliament and by praising the prime minister, he was only exposing himself.
Azad, a veteran politician and former Union minister, on Wednesday, lavished praise on Modi while launching an all-out attack on the Congress party.

By giving such statements, he is contradicting himself, a J&K Congress spokesperson said. “The statements of Azad, in which he tries to bail out the Modi government by showering praises... this change of heart started when his long tenure in the Rajya Sabha was coming to end,” he said. He is only exposing himself by praising Modi, the spokesperson said.
“It is unfortunate that the DPAP leader praised a leader who disbanded, divided and downgraded his own historical state of J&K against the wishes of people besides abrogating the rights to land and jobs, which Azad now claims to be fighting for,” he said. RBI keeps interest rate unchanged
MUMBAI, APR 6 (PTI):
After hiking interest rate by a cumulative 250 basis points in 11 months, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday unexpectedly kept benchmark rate unchanged as global banking woes added uncertainty to the economic outlook.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, however, pledged to hike the interest rate again if needed, saying the decision to pause was “for this meeting only”.
RBI’s six-member Monetary Policy Committee voted unanimously to keep the repurchase or repo rate unchanged at 6.50 per cent.
Most analysts had expected one final hike of 25 basis points in RBI’s current tightening cycle before hitting a pause. MPC also decided to retain a policy stance focused on “withdrawal of accommodation” to “ensure that inflation progressively aligns with the target, while supporting growth.”
That had been its ap-

It also sought declaration of SAPO and SAYO as unlawful associations under Section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
The PIL prayed for judicial/administrative enquiries into the various lapses on the part of law enforcement agencies and administrative machinery during the ban on movement and entry of Mao community members through Southern Angami settlement areas.
It further sought direction to the Central government and the concerned State governments to secure National Highways in Manipur, Nagaland in particular and the North East in general so that no such act or blockade is repeated in future.

proach since it started tightening in May 2022.
“MPC unanimously decided to keep rates unchanged in this meeting with readiness to act if the situation so warrants,” Das said while announcing the decisions of the committee. “MPC will not hesitate to take further action as may be required in its future meetings.”
He said that MPC is ready to act if necessary as the decision to keep the rate unchanged is “a pause, not a pivot.”
Reacting to the decision, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “RBI has taken a good call, I think.”
Interest rates have been effectively tightened by 290
basis points in the past year -- a 250 bps increase in the repo rate and a 40 bps increase when the SDF was introduced.
RBI remained cautious about the inflation outlook and relatively upbeat on growth.
The central bank marginally upped its forecast of India’s GDP growth in the current fiscal year starting April 1 to 6.5 per cent from 6.4 per cent projected earlier.
This compares with an expected 7 per cent growth in 2022-23 (April 2022 to March 2023) fiscal.
The central bank lowered its inflation forecast to 5.2 per cent for 2023-24 from 5.3 pre cent, with Das saying “war against inflation has to continue”.
He said it was necessary to evaluate the cumulative impact of past interest rate hikes.
The surprise pause comes even as core inflation stayed above 6 per cent for 17 straight months.
“Our job is not yet finished and the war against
inflation has to continue until we see a durable decline in inflation closer to the target,” he said.
Dinesh Khara, Chairman of State Bank of India, said RBI’s decision was “a pleasant surprise given the market talks of one more final rate hike.”
“With uncertainty looming large, this decision was perfectly timed,” he said. Bank of Baroda economist Sonal Badhan said given the baseline assumptions, RBI is not expected to hike rates any further this year.

to the global economy now witnessing a renewed phase of turbulence with fresh headwinds from the banking sector turmoil in some advanced economies.
“Bank failures and contagion risk have brought financial stability issues to the forefront,” he said. “Given the stubbornness in inflation, central banks continue to tighten monetary policy, although at a reduced pace.”
Explaining the rationale behind MPC’s decision to pause rate hike, he said while the recent high frequency indicators suggest some improvement in global economic activity, the outlook is now tempered by additional downside risks from financial stability concerns. Headline inflation is moderating but remains well above the targets of central banks. The sudden announcement of an output cut by OPEC+ a few days ago and the resultant jump in crude oil prices is yet another evidence of this volatility, he said.
B20 delegates see potential in State’s culture, tourism
(From p-1)
He revealed that he was in Nagaland in 2021 for the Hornbill Festival but lamented at the abrupt ending of the festival due to the Oting incident.
When asked about his speech at Kohima, where he spoke on the Naga issue, he said that he would not comment. Asked which sector would be the best for investment in the State, he replied that tourism had great potential for Nagaland.
On whether the Business to Business (B2B) meet focused more on cultural extravaganza rather than on business, he replied that Nagaland certainly was a state of festivals and hence the delegates were very much appreciative of the cultural extravaganza.
Another delegate commented that no other State would be able to do what Nagaland had done in three days.
Many delegates who were interviewed before their departure spoke on the huge potential for tourism in the State, while some maintained that the State government should do more in the sector by taking advantage of the rich cultural heritage and hospitality of the Nagas.
A delegate assured that he would be hiring the band that performed for the visitors on the first day of the B20 event.
expects less than 3% global economic growth in 2023
WASHINGTON, APR 6
(AP): The International Monetary Fund chief said Thursday the world economy is expected to grow less than 3 per cent this year, down from 3.4 per cent last year, increasing the risk of hunger and poverty globally.
Kristalina Georgieva said growth is expected to remain around 3 per cent for the next five years, calling it “our lowest medium-term growth forecast since 1990, and well below the average
of 3.8 per cent from the past two decades.”
She said slower growth would be a “severe blow,” making it even harder for low-income nations to catch up. “Poverty and hunger could further increase, a dangerous trend that was started by the COVID crisis,” she said.
Georgieva’s comments at a Politico event at the Meridian International Centre come ahead of next week’s spring meetings of the IMF
and its sister lending agency, the World Bank, in Washington, where policymakers will convene to discuss the global economy’s most pressing issues.
The annual gathering will take place as central banks around the world continue to raise interest rates to tame persistent inflation and as an ongoing debt crisis in emerging economies pushes debt burdens higher, preventing nations from growing.

Representatives from business community of Nagaland as well as government departments also participated actively during the B2B and B2G meetings that were coordinated by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
According to DIPR, the State government will continue to make concerted efforts with active support of the Ministry of DoNER, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Invest India, and in tandem with industrial
associations/relevant stakeholders for ushering appropriate policies to convert these expressed business interests into projects on ground.
With the NE Global Investment Summit organised by DoNER Ministry and DPIIT fast approaching, the State has submitted its policy recommendations for new North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS), which would facilitate in fast forwarding the process of grounding business propositions and effectively improving the business climate of the State.

He reminded all that the life and teaching, and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, were lessons on the efficacy of humility, sacrifice, self-sacrifice, and the love, by which one is prepared to sacrifice not
only for one’s family and friends but also the higher values of truth and justice. Rio’s greets: Taking to Twitter, chief minister Rio said: “We remember the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His unconditional love for us. I wish everyone a blessed and meaningful Good Friday.”

Al-Aqsa Mosque witnesses second day of violence
JERUSALEM, APR
6 (IANS): Israeli police raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem for a second consecutive day, triggering clashes and more rocket launches from Gaza towards the Jewish state heightening tensions, sources said on Thursday.
At least six people were injured in the raids, according to a statement by the Palestinian Red Crescent.
In charge of the sensitive compound, the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, a Jordanian body, reported that police used stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the worshippers, reports Xinhua news agency.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the police stormed the compound while nearly 20,000 worshippers were still performing the Ramadan Taraweeh night prayer.
Israel’s police said in a statement that “dozens of law-breaking youths” attempted to barricade themselves inside the mosque to incite riots.
According to the statement, the forces broke in after the youths attempted to close the mosque’s doors.

GLEN ALLEN, APR 6
(AP): A tornado ripped through southeastern Missouri before dawn on Wednesday, killing five people and causing widespread destruction as the third in a series of deadly massive storms over the past two weeks struck the nation’s heartland.
Forecasters are keeping a wary eye out for more extreme weather as this year’s early severe storm season continues. The storms have spawned dozens of tornadoes, mainly in the South and Midwest, that have killed at least 63 people.
S Korean prez invited to address US Congress
WASHINGTON, APR 6
(AP): U.S. congressional leaders have invited the president of South Korea to address a joint meeting during a visit to Washington later this month.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other leaders announced Thursday they have invited Republic of Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol to address a joint meeting of Congress in honour of the 70th anniversary of the alliance between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea. The session is set for April 27.
Macron appeals to China’s Xi to ‘bring Russia to its senses’
BEIJING, APR 6 (AP): French President Emmanuel Macron appealed on Thursday to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who received an effusive welcome from Vladimir Putin in Moscow last month, to “bring Russia to its senses” and help make “lasting peace” in Ukraine.
Macron pointed to Chinese support for the United Nations Charter, which calls for respect of a country’s territorial integrity, and for nuclear agreements. He said peace and stability based on those were threatened by the Russian president’s invasion of Ukraine.
Xi’s government declared it had a “no limits friendship” with Russia ahead of the February 2022 attack but has tried to appear neutral. Beijing has called for peace talks.
“I know I can count on you, under the two principles I just mentioned, to bring Russia to its senses and bring everyone back to
the negotiating table,” Macron told Xi. “We need to find a lasting peace,” Macron said.
“I believe that this is also an important issue for China, as much as it is for France and for Europe.”
Xi didn’t mention Ukraine or Russia but said he welcomed relations with France. He said Beijing and Paris are “staunch promoters of multipolarization of the world,” a reference to reducing U.S. dominance

N Korea warns ‘action’ over allies’ drills
SEOUL, APR 6 (AP):
North Korea on Thursday threatened unspecified “offensive action” over the expansion of U.S. military exercises with rival South Korea as President Joe Biden’s special representative for North Korea flew to Seoul for talks with allies over the North’s growing nuclear threat.
The North Korean comments came a day after the United States flew nuclear-capable B-52 bombers to the Korean Peninsula for joint aerial exercises with South Korean warplanes in their latest show of force against the North, which portrays the allies’ drills as invasion rehearsals. Animosity heightened in recent weeks as the pace of both the U.S.-South Ko-
rean military exercises and the North Korean weapons demonstrations increased in a cycle of tit-for-tat.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said the United States and South Korea’s military exercises and the deployment of advanced U.S. military assets have turned the Korean Peninsula into a “huge powder magazine, which can be detonated any moment.”
“The military provocations by the U.S.-led warmongers have gone beyond the tolerance limit. This reality awaits more explicit stand and answer of (North Korea’s) defense capabilities,” KCNA said in a commentary attributed to a scholar.
“(North Korea’s) war
deterrence will continue to show its responsibility for and confidence in its crucial mission through offensive action,” it said.
KCNA’s commentary came as Sung Kim, the U.S. special representative to North Korea, arrived in Seoul for talks with South Korean and Japanese officials to coordinate their response to North Korea’s intensifying weapons development and threats of nuclear conflict.
Following meetings with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin and other South Korean officials on Thursday, Kim will take part in a three-way meeting with the South Korean and Japanese nuclear envoys on Friday, according to South Korea’s Foreign Ministry.
Hindu temple vandalised in Canada
TORONTO, APR 6 (PTI): A Hindu temple has been vandalised by unknown people with “anti-Hindu and anti-India graffiti” in Canada’s Ontario province, in what is described by police as a “hate-motivated incident.”
In a statement, the police in Ontario’s Windsor city said on Wednesday that it has launched an investigation into the incident and looking for two suspects. The officers were dispatched to the Hindu temple in the 1700 block of the Northway Avenue following a report of hate-motivated vandalism on Wednesday, police said.
“Officers discovered anti-Hindu and anti-India graffiti sprayed in black on an exterior wall of the building,” the police said.
The Windsor Police Service was investigating vandalism at the temple “as a hatemotivated incident,” the statement said.
Through investigation, officers obtained a video that shows two suspects in the area just after 12 a.m. In the video, one suspect appears to commit the vandalism on the wall of the building while the other keeps watch, it said.
At the time of the incident, one suspect wore a black sweater, black pants with a small white logo on the left leg, and black and white high-top running shoes.
The second suspect wore black pants, a sweatshirt black shoes, and white socks. Police asked residents in the immediate vicinity of the temple to check their home surveillance or dashcam video footage for evidence of the suspects.
In January, the Gauri Shankar temple in Brampton was targeted with anti-India graffiti, causing an outrage among the Indian community.
Earlier, Macron said during a meeting with the ruling Communist Party’s No. 2 leader, Premier Li Qiang, that France wants to “build a common path” in dealing with “all the major conflicts” in addition to Ukraine.
Li said there was likely to be a “broad consensus” between Macron and Xi but gave no indication whether Beijing might be willing to lobby Moscow to make peace. The meeting will “send positive signals of concerted efforts by China, France and Europe to maintain world peace and stability,” Li said.
Macron’s drive to raise the national retirement age from 62 to 64 has ignited a months-long firestorm of public anger.
Talks between trade union leaders and Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne broke up Wednesday without a breakthrough, setting the stage for protesters’ return to the streets.
However, the number of strikers has fallen, particularly in the transportation sector, since protests began in January.
About 400,000 people joined the protest in Paris Thursday, down from 450,000 the week before, said the powerful CGT union. On Thursday, the Paris Metro ran almost nor-
ma lly, in stark contrast to previous days of action. Less than 8% of teachers were on strike, according to the Education Ministry. However, the sizeable TotalEnergies oil refinery in Gonfrevillel’Orcher remained closed.
In Paris, police were pelted by projectiles when the protest reached La Rotonde, a restaurant patronised by Macron during the 2017 presidential election that he went on to win.
Parts of the façade of the chic venue were vandalised.
Officers dispersed vio-
lent protesters, who were in the minority, with tear gas after they smashed up a branch of Credit Agricole bank.
Experts say violence seen in the nationwide protests, with dozens of demonstrators and police hurt, has turned off less activist parts of the population. “The demonstrations have become more violent as they’ve gone on. That means many in France are now staying away,” said Luc Rouban, research director of a centre at Sciences Po, the prestigious Parisian university.
China vows ‘forceful’ measures after US-Taiwan meet
TAIPEI, APR 6 (AP): China vowed reprisals against Taiwan after a meeting between the United States House speaker and the island’s president, saying Thursday that the U.S. was on a “wrong and dangerous road.” Speaker Kevin McCarthy hosted Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday in a show of U.S. support for the selfgoverned island, which China claims as its own, along with a bipartisan delegation of more than a dozen U.S. lawmakers. The Biden administration maintains there is nothing provocative about the visit by Tsai, which is the latest of a half dozen to the U.S. Yet it comes as the U.S.-China relationship has fallen to historic lows, with
U.S. support for Taiwan one of the main points of difference between the two powers. But the formal trappings of the meeting, and the senior rank of some of the elected officials in the delegation from Congress, could lead China to view it as an escalation.
No speaker is known to have met with a Taiwanese president on U.S. soil since the U.S. broke off formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 1979. In response to the meeting, Beijing said in a statement issued early morning by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs that it would take “resolute and forceful measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.” It urged the U.S. “not to walk further down a wrong and dangerous road.”
In December, China’s military sent 71 planes and seven ships toward Taiwan in a 24-hour display of force after expressing anger at Taiwan-related provisions in a U.S. annual defense spending bill. China’s military pressure campaign on Taiwan has intensified in recent years, and the Communist Party has sent planes or ships toward the island on a near-daily basis. But as of Thursday afternoon, there was no overt sign of a large-scale military response.

How Covid leads to organ damage in adults?
Covid-19 damages the cells lining the smallest blood vessels, choking off blood flow, leading to organ damage, according to a study.
The results, published in the journal Nature Communications, could pave the way for new treatments to save lives at a time when hundreds of people are still dying from Covid-19 each day.
Even after three years since the emergence of Covid, much remains unknown about how it causes severe disease, including the widespread organ damage beyond just the lungs.
To understand, a multidisciplinary team from the University of Emory in the US, studied multiple datasets to examine
the biochemistry of blood from Covid patients and compared it to non-Covid patients.
“One unique pathway that stood out was related to vessel health and blood flow,” said Cheryl Maier, Assistant Professor in the
Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at Emory’s School of Medicine.
Further, the team created cutting-edge models of the smallest blood vessels, expected to be the most sensitive to altered

blood flow. The models allowed them to visualise how blood from Covid-19 patients versus other patients might be flowing in the human body.
They found that Covid-19 patients had severely high levels of a blood protein called fibrinogen. It causes red blood cells (RBC) to clump together, altering blood flow and directly damaging the endothelial glycocalyx -- a gelatinous protective layer lining the microvessels.
When the researchers combined plasma from Covid patients with RBC in lab-made blood vessels, they could visualise the cellular aggregation and quantify the destruction of the endothelial cell glycocalyx.
Temsumongba to release singles
Taken together, these data suggest that the fibrinogen-induced red blood cell aggregation and resulting microvascular damage could be the major pathway by which Covid causes organ damage and even death. There’s presently no medications targeting high fibrinogen in the blood.
However, the team has done exploratory research using therapeutic plasma exchange: removing plasma with high fibrinogen from Covid-19 patients and replacing it with donor plasma that has normal fibrinogen levels.
According to Maier, the discovery is critical because it provides a target that might help save lives. (IANS)

Mars helicopter goes faster, higher on 49th flight
The Ingenuity Mars helicopter has flown faster and higher than it ever had before on its 49th flight on the Red Planet.
On April 2, the mini chopper reached a top speed of 23.3 kph and scaled a maximum altitude of 16 metres, according to the mission’s flight log. The previous records were 21.6 kph and 14 m, respectively.
“Two new records for the #MarsHelicopter!’ NASA JPL wrote on Twitter.
“Ingenuity successfully completed Flight 49, setting a new flight speed record of 14.5 mph (6.5 m/s) and an altitude record of 52.5 ft (16 metres),” it added.
Ingenuity helicopter landed with NASA’s Perseverance rover on the floor
of Jezero Crater on February 18, 2021. It became the first rotorcraft ever to make powered flight beyond Earth. Weighing just 1.8 kilograms, it has proved that aerial exploration is possible on Mars despite the planet’s thin atmosphere.
It was originally tasked with only five test flights to prove its pioneering technology, but it has exceeded NASA’s expectations.
Over the course of its 49 Mars flights to date, Ingenuity has stayed aloft for a total of 86.7 minutes and covered 11.224 km of Red Planet ground, according to the flight log. Perseverance’s odometer, meanwhile, currently reads 17.17 km.

Humpy may miss Asian Games in China due to COVID fears
NEW DELHI, APR 6 (PTI): Two-time Asian
Games gold medallist
Woman Grandmaster Koneru Humpy could give the continental multi-discipline event later this year a miss since the Games are being held in China, the country where the deadly COVID-19 virus reportedly originated and spread across the world in 2020.
The virus has largely been contained in most parts of the world. The latest World Health Organisation (WHO) data shows that
between January 3, 2020 and April 5 this year, China recorded 99,238,586 COVID-19 cases with 120,896 fatalities.
The world’s most populous country has not reported any new COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours,
according to WHO. China was originally scheduled to host the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022 but postponed the quadrennial showpiece event by a year because of the pandemic. Asked about her expectations at the Asian Games, where chess is set to return after 13 years -- the last time the sport was part of the curriculum was in 2010 Guangzhou --, Humpy said, “Well I’m not sure about my participation in the Asian Games because it’s being held in China.”
ited by injuries with Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele all sidelined. Barca started stronger, with Lewandowski seeing a shot deflected wide and Raphinha heading at Thibaut Courtois before great defending from Ronald Araujo denied Vinicius Jr and a quick Madrid counterattack. There was plenty of high pressure and individual marking and tensions ran high between Vinicius and Gavi, with both booked after reacting angrily. Real Madrid took the lead in first-half injury time with a counter-attack. Courtois again denied Lewandowski with a reflex save and the ball fell kindly for Madrid to catch Barca
wrong-footed. Rodrygo had space and pulled the ball back for Vinicius and although Ter Stegen got a hand onto his shot, the ball had the legs to just cross the line, although Benzema thumped it into the back of the net to make sure.
Benzema put Madrid 2-0 up on the night and 2-1 up on aggregate five minutes into the second half with a low finish after Luka Modric set the striker up on the edge of the area. The Frenchman then made it 3-0 from the penalty spot after Franck Kessie caught Vinicius, whose speed drew the foul from the midfielder and it was almost 4-0 moments afterward when Modric’s cross was just inches away from Rodrygo.

IPL: KKR hand RCB huge 81-run defeat
KOLKATA, APRIL 6
(IANS): Spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and debutant Suyash Sharma wreaked havoc as Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs to register their first win of IPL 2023 on return to Eden Gardens after four years, here on Thursday.
After Shardul Thakur slammed the joint-fastest fifty of the season while Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit a stroke-filled half-century and Rinku Singh chipped in with a vital 46 to propel KKR to a mammoth 204/7, Kolkata’s three mystery spinners bamboozled the RCB batters to bowl them out for 123 in 17.4 overs.
While Narine set the base for the demolition job with 2/16 in four overs, Chakaravarthy was the star of the show with his quicker

president Thomas Bach has emphasized the importance of sport and the Olympic Games in world peace ahead of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
In a video released on Wednesday, Bach stated that sport has the power to foster peace and understanding with fellow human beings. “Sport can open the door to peace in ways that exclusion and division do not,” he remarked.
Bach noted that since ancient times, the purpose of the Olympics has been to promote peace through sport, and that each Olympic Games has brought together athletes from different backgrounds and cultures to put aside their differences and live together peacefully in the Olympic Village.
He also added that peace could create a better world, and that is where sport can have a positive impact, a Xinhua report said.
“Sport is the low-cost, high-impact tool to support all countries - big or small, rich or poor - to build together a more peaceful, healthier, more equal and more sustainable world for everyone - 365 days a year,” said Bach.

Virat Kohli began the chase of 205 clipping a halfvolley outside leg stump from Umesh Yadav for four and ended the opening over
with another boundary slashed in the gap between third man and backward point.
He and Faf du Plessis hit Tim Southee for two fours and as many sixes each in the fourth over yielding 23 runs. But from there, the Narine-Chakravarthy show began to blow away RCB. Kohli played across the line against Narine, but missed the ball and was
castled through the gate in the fifth over. In the next over, du Plessis went for an expansive drive against a fuller ball from Chakravarthy but got an inside edge to his stumps.
In his next over, Chakaravarthy’s quicker googly beat the inside edge of Glenn Maxwell to crash into the stumps. Two balls later, he ended Harshal Patel’s promotion by extracting an inside edge to crash into the stumps. More misery followed Bangalore as Shahbaz Ahmed picked out deep point with his reverse sweep off Narine, as half the side was back in the hut in 8.5 overs. Michael Bracewell put up some resistance with two boundaries, but gloved a pull off Thakur to diving short fine leg. Impact player Anuj Rawat tried to slog-sweep against debutant
