Netherlands Pavilion, Dubai World Expo

Het Nederlands paviljoen voor de World Expo in Dubai, een spectaculair ontwerp van V8 Architects, belichaamt de verbinding die ons land weet te leggen tussen duurzame energie, watermanagement, agricultuur en circulariteit. Het 4.000 m2 grote bouwwerk is ontworpen als een circulair klimaatsysteem, een biotoop: er wordt water gemaakt uit de gortdroge woestijnlucht, energie opgewekt en voedsel geoogst.

Raining Stories brengt de Nederlandse bijdrage aan de World Expo in beeld. Het biedt het verhaal achter het ontwerp van V8 en de manier waarop de architecten met kunstenaars en ontwerpers samenwerkten om in een waar gesamtkunstwerk water-, voedsel- en energiesystemen te integreren en zo te tonen hoe kunst en ontwerp kunnen bijdragen aan de oplossing van een van de grootste uitdagingen van deze tijd.

Nederlandse topauteurs geven in het boek hun visie op de toekomst van water-, voedsel- en energiesystemen. Gerenommeerde kunstenaars en ontwerpers voegen prachtige esthetiek toe en dragen daarmee bij aan de brede acceptatie van nieuwe technologie. Het paviljoen heeft een minimale footprint en wordt na a oop van de Expo afgebroken. Wat blijft is dit prachtig geïllustreerde boekwerk. The 4,000-m2 building is designed as a circular climate system, a biotope: water is produced from bone-dry desert air, energy is generated and food is harvested.

Raining Stories portrays the Dutch contribution to the World Expo. It presents the story behind V8’s design and explains how the architects worked together with artists and designers to integrate water, food and energy systems into a true gesamtkunstwerk to show how art and design can contribute to the solution of one of the biggest challenges of our time.

In the book, Dutch top authors give their views of the future of water, food and energy systems. Renowned artists and designers add powerful aesthetics and thus contribute to the wide acceptance of new technology. The pavilion has a minimal footprint and will be demolished after the Expo.
