Finnboda, Stockholm, Swedish Instructor: Alexandra Barker Team: Michael Lu, Yu-Wei Wu
With the popularity and richness of Swedish music, the Stockholm Concert Hall is designed to provide a new urban link between context and people, redefine itself as a cultural center. 'The reverse' of the form introduces an unconventional spatial quality and structure system. The project integrates green design strategies on facade, landscape, and MEP optimization, which enhace the sustainability of the local environment.

Pollinators Pavilion is a professional design-build project by Harrison Atelier. Nai-Hua is the lead designer and fabricator, collaborating with ARUP, CarvArt, and Ductal by LafargeHolcim. The design focuses on the relationship between human and different species - solitary bees. Inspired by bee’s compound eyes, the form fully expresses the aesthetics and functionality. The building materials and photo capturing system for bees are aimed to build a sustainable environment with contribution to scientific research.

Detroit, MI Instructor: James Garrison
Detroit as an industrial city, is re-thriving through a cultural movement. The project is inspired by implementing industrial techniques Detroit owns for decades into designing different urban contexts with social housing. From self-community to adaptive reuse, the modular housing is efficiently adapted by utilizing automobile frames in the structure of housing units for innovation, flexibility of space alternation, and significant cost-down.

When disaster damages our homeland, the prority is efficiency of constructing a place for sheltering. This project focuses on efficient modular design strategy - package, with the maximum flexibility to be implemented by multiple types of families and purposes in order to rebuild a 'temporary home' for communities, and enhances the power for further recovery.

Inspired by FDR as a frame that captures the scene of city from pier 14, the elementary school design integrates this powerful sptial relationship between highrises and water. The unleveled circulation and the space framed dynamically by the combination of horizontal and vertical elements enables children and people to interact with the city and nature directly.
