CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY Private gun ownership is a founding principle of our federal and state constitutions. I fully support existing Alaska gun ownership laws including the “Castle” and “Stand your ground” doctrines. Before writing new laws, lengthening sentences and adopting harsher penalties, we must consistently enforce the ones we have. FISH, GAME & PUBLIC LANDS

Cathy Tilton For the last 4 years, Cathy has worked as a senior staff member for the House and Senate Finance committees in the Alaska Legislature. It was during her last position with Rep. Mark Neuman (R-Big Lake) that she realized she needed to once again step out of her comfort zone into a new role as a candidate. Her time as a legislative staffer provided her the insight into the agencies, departments and processes of state government.

I support the mission and work of the Citizen’s Advisory Commission on Federal Areas (CACFA) and will look for ways to increase their role in helping Alaska manage its lands. We must protect access to Alaska’s fisheries resources for ALL stakeholder groups. I will support Chinook abundance research efforts so Alaskans will continue to have dependable access to this resource. The recent reduction in bag limits for Alaska recreational fishermen illustrate the need for greater state involvement in halibut management. I will work with stakeholder groups and our congressional delegation to advance state control of halibut management. STATE BUDGET Budget reductions are essential. However, we can’t “cut ourselves into prosperity.” As a staff member for the Finance Committees, I have helped reduce state spending. As your legislator, I will continue to do the same. As your legislator, I will focus on finishing what we started, taking care of what we have and prioritizing what we need rather than what we want. Increasing revenue is a critical component to stabilizing our state finances. As your legislator I will pursue regulatory changes that encourage new industries to invest in Alaska and encourage local hire for Alaskans.

Verne Rupright, Mayor - City of Wasilla Hello from Wasilla, the fastest growing community in the State of Alaska! This thriving crossroads, with a booming and prosperous economy, is the heart of a very dynamic and vibrating area. The staff and elected folks of Wasilla are committed to the very American and Alaskan ideal of public service to its residents.Wasilla is the core area of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough setting within a Greater Wasilla area of 60,000 people, and growing larger still day-by-day. We are located 45 miles north of Anchorage, on the Parks Highway on the way to Fairbanks.Wasilla’s growth is due to several factors. First, the city charges a modest three cents per dollar on purchases, to a cap of five hundred dollars on purchases. One cent is set aside for new twenty-four thousand square foot library complex; no debt incurred! Also, the City charges absolutely NO City Property Tax to residents or businesses. Shopping abounds, as well as entertainment and eateries, all within easy striking distance and located right within the city boundaries. Many shopping areas are located in Wasilla, such as Wal-Mart Super Store, Fred Meyers, Sears, Safeway, Lowe’s, Target, Sports Authority, Home Depot, Spenard Builders, Sportsman’s Warehouse and other national outfits. Wasilla also has many national and local auto repair parts outlets and theaters, with more businesses coming on a consistent basis. The area has top-notch medical facilities and great schools, as well as public transportation services.Wasilla is surrounded by three premier Alaskan Mountain Ranges, nestled between two beautiful lakes, with parks and a preserved Alaskan look. Wasilla boasts a great museum, golfing, and a cornucopia of outdoor activities yearround. Wasilla also features a 102,000 square foot sports arena. The City is expanding its infrastructure to meets current and future needs, while carrying a balanced budget with surplus for the “rainy days”, if needed. Housing is available, and more is coming online daily, with police and fire protection to ensure the safety of every resident. The City of Wasilla works hard to provide city low cost services while creating incentives for future families and businesses. It’s no secret that folks moving to Wasilla get a larger “bang for the buck” in their home investment. f you would like more information about Wasilla, please visit our website at www.cityofwasilla.com or, call at 907-373-9050 and ask for the Deputy Administrator’s office. State Politcians DON YOUNG CONGRESSMAN

Roger

FOR ALL ALASKA

Micah

I was re-elected to the 111th Congress in 2008 to serve my 19th term as Alaska’s only Representative to the United States House of Representatives. My tenure in office has been driven by my deep love for Alaska and the Nation, and my hope to provide all citizens the opportunity for a better life, not just today, but well into the future. I have an impassioned and sincere desire to continue serving Alaska in the United States Congress. My home is a stone’s throw from Alaska’s Yukon River in Fort Yukon, Alaska, a remote village of approximately 700 people located 7 miles above the Arctic Circle in Alaska’s central interior region. It was in Fort Yukon that I met and married a young bookkeeper named Lu. Lu was always at my side and supported me throughout my public service career. Lu and I were married for 46 years, and were blessed with and raised two daughters, Joni and Dawn, and 14 grandchildren. Lu passed away on August 2, 2009 at the age of 67. I thank God for the many years we had together and I miss her every day. I proudly serve as the “Congressman for All Alaska” and love my role as the only Alaskan Representative in Congress. Renewed by the challenges and goals of the 111th Congress and my committee positions, I will continue to champion legislation and funding for programs benefiting Alaska and the nation. My vision remains the same – to provide citizens with the opportunity for a better life not just for today, but also for tomorrow and the future. Paid for by the committee to re-elect Don Young.

Bill Walker Candidate Alaska Governor

Bill was born in Fairbanks, raised in Delta Junction and Valdez and resides in Anchorage with his wife, Donna. Bill’s parents were Alaskan pioneers. His father was an Alaskan Scout with Castner’s Cutthroats in the Aleutians in WWII and his mother worked on the Al-Can Highway project. Bill worked as a carpenter, teamster and laborer on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline

construction to pay for his education. He earned a business and law degree and has extensive experience in business, fishing, construction, tourism and owns a law firm that focuses on municipal and oil and gas law. Married 36 years, Bill and Donna are blessed with two grandchildren and four children. Bill has over 30 years of experience in local government as a commissioner, councilmember, mayor and city attorney and believes that the foundation for a strong, prospering Alaska begins at the local level. As project manager and general counsel for the Alaska Gasline Port Authority, Bill has traveled the globe to meet and negotiate at the highest level on energy project development. A respected voice in Alaska’s oil and gas issues, Bill believes Alaska is doing little to solve the energy crisis in time to save our communities that are at risk. Bill would advance short term solutions now to fill the gap while we develop the world scale gasline project that matches the global opportunity while delivering low-cost energy to Alaskans statewide. Paid for by the committee to elect Bill Walker

Bianca Purcell

Roger Purcell State House Candidate Mat Su Borough, City of Houston and District 10 are becoming the cross roads of economic prosperity, not just for the Mat Su but for all Alaska. Port MacKenzie, the Houston rail spur, the Knik Bridge and a commercial truck route to what will be Alaska’s largest deep water port, Little Susitna Chinook/Coho Salmon population restoration project, are all opportunity’s our State has not seen in decades. As Alaskan’s we all want our children and grandchildren to enjoy this great State for decades to come. We need to look to the future now not later and embrace a diversified economy and invest in the ones that make sense Makes sense not just for the economy but for the environment of this great State. We should never have to choose between hunting or fishing or mining and logging. Done responsibly, we can have both, not for us but for future generations. We can accomplish great things for our children and grandchildren with just a small investment today that will pay tenfold for future generations tomorrow. We often overestimate what will happen in the next two years and underestimate what will happen in ten. While we still have the opportunity, let’s not pass up and look back regretting what should have been. Some of Alaska’s greatest opportunities since the pipeline days are right here in our back yard. Mat-Su Valley Politicians My name is Bert Cottle and I am running for Wasilla Mayor I was born and raised in Wasilla. This is home. In order for the City of Wasilla to continue to grow economically and in population, as your next Mayor I believe it is vital for our City Government to be fiscally responsible and to forward fund Capital Projects. Work to improve our Parks and Recreational opportunities, work to improve transportation corridors (City / Borough / State) and improve City services. These are all important issues that contribute to the quality of life for Wasilla residents. Background: Graduate of Wasilla High School,Graduated Trinidad State College - Trinidad, CO FBI Academy graduate, 12 years Office Manager - Petro Star, Inc., Division of Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, 22 years Valdez Police Officer – 8 years as Chief of Police – retired, 3 years Deputy Administrator – City of Wasilla – current Political Experience:11 years Valdez City Council – 10 years Mayor,13 years Alaska Gasline Port Authority, 3 years Alaska Alcohol Beverage Control Board, 3 years Alaska Municipal League Board – President 2010, 3 years Alaska State Homeland Security Affiliations: Pioneers of Alaska – Past President, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Eagles Aerie 1971, Longtime NRA Member, Advocate for Victims of Violence City of Wasilla Projects Completed: New Library land site acquisition , Transfer of Lake Lucille Park from Borough to City of Wasilla, Reactivation of SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) I am asking for your vote October 7th. Paid for by the committee to elect Bert Cottle

Statewide employment in Alaska is primarily in government and industries such as natural resource extraction, shipping, and transportation. Military bases are a significant component of the economy in both Fairbanks and Anchorage. Most of the state’s industrial outputs are crude petroleum, natural gas, coal, gold, precious metals, zinc and other mining, seafood processing, timber and wood products. There is also a growing service and tourism sector. What about the Valley? With a population of over 90,000 people, the valley will continue to be the fastest growing area in the state. Relatively in-expensive land, close proximity to Anchorage, a beautiful setting, lot’s of outdoor activities, makes the Valley the place to be for the foreseeable future. As a result, the Valley’s employment future is looking up. With the passage of the natural gas bill, headway is now being made on the LNG large volume gas line, the Knik Arm crossing is now moving to the financing stage. With this the valley is poised to have much economic activity occurring over the next decade. The result will be many employment opportunities. This will be the place for jobs, growing business and a great quality of life. For anyone willing to work, finding employment should not be that difficult given all that will be occurring. For those willing to invest in business, the same. As long as we in government ensure a supportive business climate, we will do well. Reasonable taxation and regulatory policies will be the key to the Valley’s future.” Paid for by the committee to elect Mike Dunleavy. Volume 4 Issue 4

It is time for Alaskan voters to make their voices heard, the primary election is just around the corner! Are you in House District 11 or 12? If so then you are part of the new Senate Seat F which has no incumbent senator. It is time for Alaskan voters to make their voices heard, the primary election is just around the corner! Are you in House District 11 or 12? If so then you are part of the new Senate Seat F which has no incumbent senator. This district is made up of Butte, Palmer, Fairview Loop, Valley Core Area, Chugiak and Birchwood. Your new seat deserves a leader that is not scared to stand up to the issues, it deserves someone who knows business, and a leader that is ready to listen to all constituents. You live in a land of great resources and opportunities and now is time for a fiscally capable and responsible leader. We also must confront our spending; our expenses exceeded our income by over a billion dollars this last year. I am DeLena Johnson and I am running for Senate Seat F because I am ready to see Alaska running the way it should; at it’s full potential. I know that the understanding of economy begins in the home. After all, you cannot build a business and attend to the needs of a houseful of children if you do not learn to balance a budget! This state is our home and I want it to be a place that our children and grandchildren can call home. Big budgets and frivolous spending are just not sustainable. Your new senator needs to keep the best and fix the rest in Juneau, not only for us, but for the future generations of our state. Please don’t forget, Vote! Vote early or vote at the polls on election day, August 19. Find more information on the current voting districts at www. elections.alaska.gov.

The city benefits from the proximity of Wasilla (11 miles) and Anchorage (50 miles) for employment, shopping and entertainment while enjoying rural living surrounded by the Alaskan wilderness. As the Mat-Su Borough is the fastest growing area in Alaska, Houston is poised to welcome new development. The City Council makes their decisions today with foresight of expansion opportunities in the near future. Land for building homes and businesses is abundant and affordable. Additionally, a variety of current and future markets for business make the city an attractive place to consider for successful investment. I’ve been a licensed realtor in Alaska for nearly 20 years ,the majority of that time has been with the Century 21 system.Over the years I have met some very interesting people from all over .Taking buyers around to view homes has given me an opportunity to see different styles of homes, I’ve picked up decorating ideas, and have discovered color schemes that you would have never thought could go together. But finding buyers the right home that fits their needs is a rewarding experience as is getting the sellers homes sold so they can move on with their lives. So for all your real estate needs - please call us at Century 21 A to Z Realty -- 352-5111 or 352-5100 Have a glorious summer!. Bettie G. Salmon 232-8081
