There was an urgent need to encourage the students to practice writing essays/articles on

a given topic and also on any topic. On 23rd Oct, 2010, initially, each student was given an already published article and was allowed to read thoroughly. This was followed by marking important points of the article. Later on, based on these points, the students should build-up an article/essay on their own.

There was an One day workshop for Placement Officers and selected students on 20th Oct, 2010 at Basudev Soomani College, Mysore. This is in association with UGC. This programme gathered importance as it is for the first time such an event was organized in the said college. Students and placement officers from various colleges participated in the event.

Sri A.Narayana Prasad. Head, Dept.of Hindi and Sri Adinarayan, Head, Dept.of Zoology along with five final year students from our College,( Krupa B G, CBZ, Veena H S, CZBt, Shreyas HS, Suhas HS and Padmini HN from EMCs) not only attended the function but also assured them full co-operation and guidance from our side.

On 24th September, 2010 a One day Workshop on Personality Development, Motivational, Time Management, Interview Tips, Strength of Creativeness and Imagination. The workshop was conducted by Sri A.Narayana Prasad., Convener, Placement Cell, Govt.Science College, Hassan.

ECONOMY AND ENVIRNOMENT The number of endangered bird species in India has risen to 154 as compared to 149 two years ago. A recent study has revealed destruction of habitat is the prime reason for all these disappearing species. The fact that now 154 bird species from India are threatened, as against 149 in 2008, is an indicator of further deterioration of the environment. Govt of India is starting special program for the protection of the birds and their habitats.

Destruction of habitat for economy has destructed the environment.

Steady rise in temperature has also destructed the environment. India has released its first greenhouse gas emission inventory since 1994 showing a 30% fall in the emissions intensity of the GDP from that date till 2007.

Steady rise in temperature following the release of global temperature data which revealed that April 2010 was the hottest. And that this so far has been warmest recorded. NASA has said global temperatures have been steadily rising since the late 1970s with no significant let-up in the trend. In the monthly global temperature data released in 2010, by national oceanic and atmospheric administration, India as showed as having higher than normal temperature all through in 2010.

Scientists have discovered a now bright reddish colour frog Rochester, with multiple glands and extremely short times from Western Ghats. One of the most striking features of the frog is the presence of numerous macro glands. The scientist found that the female buried eggs under the mass covered forest floor, deep inside the base of bamboo clumps.

Climate polluters-India figures among, the world worst 10 continues causing environment damage. According to a new study which lists Brazil as the most polluting country, India has been placed at seventh position while ranking the US and china as the largest carbon producer after Brazil.
