Five Reasons to Be Vegetarian Some years ago, after visiting a zoo and realizing the relationship between food and fauna, the then eight year old Lisa Simpson , sister of Bart Simpson, turned vegetarian. Paul McCartney, himself a confirmed veggie, appeared on that episode , and even wrote original music for the immensely popular cartoon programme. Lisa’s conversion reflects a trend among young people in the West. A survey done by Teenage Research Unlimited found that a whopping 35% of girls and 18% of boys felt that being a vegetarian was the in thing. The 18 year old founder of Earth 2000, a teenage forum, told Newsweek that the "defining focus" of his generation will be "no animal cruelty, no meat. In the past fifty years millions of meateaters have made the personal decision to stop eating the flesh of other creatures. There are five major motivations for such a decision. 1) The RELIGIOUS reason Every religion from Hinduism and Buddhism to Islam and Christianity teaches compassion to all living beings. Animals were created for the same reason as humans, to live. Not to be killed and eaten. It ill becomes us to invoke in our daily prayers the blessings of a compassionate God if we in turn will not practise elementary compassion towards our fellow creatures.

2) The KARMIC reason All of our actions including our choice of food have karmic consequences. According to the law of karma, if we cause pain and suffering to other living beings, we must endure pain and suffering in return, both individually and collectively. We reap what we sow, in this life and the next, for nature has her own justice. By involving oneself in the cycle of inflicting injury, pain and death by eating other creatures, one will in the future, experience their suffering in equal measure.

3) The SPIRITUAL reason Food is the source of the body's chemistry, and what we ingest affects our consciousness, emotions and experiential patterns. If one wants to live in higher consciousness, in peace and happiness and love, then one cannot eat meat, fish, fowl or eggs. The methods used in large modern farms to raise and kill animals causes them immense pain and terror. They are given hormones and antibiotics which biochemists have confirmed end up in and influence the body of those who consume meat. In a very real way, we are ingesting the powerful chemical components of fear, and rage. Absorbing these contributes to a violent mentality perpetuating the cycle of cruelty and confusion. If children are raised as vegetarians, every day they are exposed to noninjury as a principle of peace and compassion. Every day they are growing up, they are remembering and being reminded to not Thanks to Internet

kill. When you won't kill another creature to feed yourself, you will be much less likely to injure anybody at all. 4) The HEALTH reason Medical studies prove that a vegetarian diet is easier to digest, provides a wider range of nutrients and imposes fewer burdens and impurities on the body. Meat eating women have a 3.6 times higher risk of breast cancer while meat eating men have a 3.8 times higher risk of prostrate cancer. Vegetarians are less susceptible to all the major diseases that afflict contemporary humanity, and live longer, healthier, more productive lives. They have fewer physical complaints, less frequent visits to the doctor, fewer dental problems and smaller medical bills. Their immune system is stronger, their bodies are purer, more refined and their skin more beautiful. 5) The ECOLOGICAL reason Planet earth is suffering. In large measure, the escalating loss of species, destruction of rain forests , loss of topsoil and the increase in water and air pollution have all been traced to the single fact of meat in the human diet. Meat is the single greatest reason for deforestation worldwide with 55sq ft of tropical rain forest consumed to produce every quarter-pounder hamburger. A major contributor to global warming is methane produced Thanks to Internet

by animals multiplied for meat. With over 6 billion people grazing the earth today, the future of life on earth rests on our choice of food. No single decision that we can make as individuals or as a race can have such a dramatic effect on the improvement of our planetary ecology as the decision to cut out meat. Many seeking to save the planet for future generations have made this decision for this reason and this reason alone. The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. Whatever happens to the earth will happen to the sons of the earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood that unites one family.

Insomnia lifestyle No one likes getting up in the morning (and we are not talking about that small percentage of freaks that do). We know you roll over hitting the snooze button for just five minutes more of that wonderful dream. But if you are sleeping a little too much, it might be time to change your lifestyle. Now all of us have heard of insomnia, but did you know that sleeping too much is also harmful? Studies have shown that sleeping more than 6-8 hours a day could decrease the lifespan of an average adult by 17%!! According to Mumbai-based General Practitioner, Dr Prakash Lulla sleeping too much could cause diabetes, hypertension, migraines, increase chances of a cardio-vascular disease like a heart attack and compromise hormone levels. "One of the most common effects of oversleeping is obesity," says Mumbai-based Psychologist, Dr Sunita Dube. "Tiredness, irritability and fatigue are other effects", she adds. Imagine so much from those 3-4 extra hours of your beauty sleep. However, the sleeping itself is not a problem, what causes the excess sleep is. Here are some commonly known problems which might have made you want to say in bed a little longer.

Depression 15% of patients suffering from depression sleep too much. "Also, trauma, shock or stress can be a cause of prolonged sleeping", says Dr Dube. If you know someone who's not so happy and tends to oversleep, it is time for them to visit a psychologist. Lack of exercise Do you have a sedentary job?? Lack of exercise can reduce the quality of your sleep and the body will compensate by sleeping more than needed. Go out for a daily walk or give an hour to yoga. Poor diet Long hours of sleep might indicate that you need a change of diet. Eating too much processed food, junk food and eating foods that take longer to break down before sleeping might be interfering with your sleep. As much as you want to believe that it was only your scheming mother who wanted you to finish those foul tasting veggies in your plate, it has been proved that a healthy diet can do wonders for you. Health Problems Too much sleep can be a sign of health disorders. Dr Lulla says "If you are sleeping too much suddenly, it might be a sign that there is something wrong with your body like a thyroid problem, a Central Nervous System Disorder or a metabolic disorder."

If it's very difficult for you to get up in the morning even after pressing the snooze button 10 times, here are some things you can do to prevent that extra sleep. 1. Make sure your last meal is at least 3 hours before your bedtime. "Try having only a bowl of fresh fruits or a glass of milk before dinner", says Dr Lulla. "Avoid drinking tea or coffee before sleeping", adds Dr Sunita Dube. 2. Exercise regularly. It will not only help you sleep well but also make you physically fit. 3. If you go out during the day, a nice shower in the evening will help you sleep better at night. 4. More important than sleeping a lot is sleeping soundly. Try listening to some soft music, reading a light book or playing a relaxing game to improve the quality of your sleep. 5. Set a time for waking up in the morning. Earlier the better. According to Dr Lulla, "Waking up at 6 in the morning will help you sleep better at night and make the most of your day".

6. Try sleeping in a room with lots of fresh air. The oxygen will refresh your mind and make your body function better. 7. Avoid sleeping in the day time. An afternoon nap of 45-minutes is fine, but lounging and sleeping for 23 hours might cost you your sweet dreams at night. 8. Psychologist Dube says, "Avoid negative thinking just before you sleep. Try calming techniques like meditation or Shavasana". 9. We know you love sleeping but remember a good night's sleep of 7 hours is sufficient to rejuvenate your body. So, set your alarm accordingly. 10. If you still feel sleepy after sleeping for 12 hours and nothing is helping, visit a doctor! So keep these tips in mind and sleep well!

Top 10 Lies Men Tell- is this true! 1. "I didn't have much to drink" The number one lie told by men is how much they have had to drink. This is more of a lie to themselves than anyone else. An inebriated man is not good at fibbing. It can become a potentially serious problem if he lies about it too often. Wait until he regains sobriety to discuss any concerns about his behaviour. 2. "Nothing's wrong, I'm Fine" Men are taught to not be emotional beings. If he's sad, he's fine, if depressed, he's still fine. It can get awfully lonely for a man going through a difficult time. He feels as if there is nobody he can turn to. This is why it's important he knows someone is there for him. Keep in mind, it's easier for him to express anger when he's vulnerable, so give him space and let him come to you once he's ready. 3. "My battery died," "I didn't know you called" It is entirely possible for these events to take place, but if these types of circumstances happen too often, they are probably more than just circumstance. Generally these lies are designed to cover up the fact that he's screening his calls, and you're no longer on his priority list. This can be a sign that a man is losing interest or falling out of love. Back off, and give him some space to realize he misses you. Thanks to Internet

4. "I don't care" Yes, he does. Men desperately seek the approval of their partner. When faced with the prospects of criticism, blame, and the disappointment of a partner, a man may wall himself off by denying the importance of the relationship. This is the cue to pull back and express negative feelings with sensitivity. Men can handle "I feel" or "I need," much better than they can, "you are" or "you always." 5. "It wasn't expensive" Women have expensive tastes, but men are just as guilty when it comes to their toys and vanity. Men pride themselves in being responsible with money, so when they buy something reckless, they lie to avoid the guilt of irresponsibility. Based on studies, men are much more susceptible to purchase expensive items for the purpose of deceiving others into thinking they are something they're not. 6. "I'm on my way," "I was stuck in traffic" When a man is less than excited to be somewhere, these lies can add 20 to 40 minutes of free time to his schedule. This form of passive aggression spites his partner since he's showing up late, while hiding his contempt behind what he considers a plausible excuse. Instead of complaining that he's always late, try letting him know when (and why) it's really important for him to be on time. Thanks to Internet

7. "I didn't forget" Men know the punitive damages of forgetting a birthday or anniversary. When faced with this transgression he will deny it, excuse himself quietly, drive to the nearest grocery store, and buy the biggest bouquet of flowers he can. Men don't understand the importance of remembering key relationship moments, so ambush his lies by communicating expectations openly and clearly. 8. "I'd never get plastic surgery" Men are actually just as vain as women. In a 2007 survey, it was found that 17 percent of men had performed some sort of cosmetic surgery, whether hair transplant or botox injections. It's an increase of 5 and 21 percent, respectively, compared to just a few decades ago. 9. "I understand" Men want to understand, but often their communication style differs so much they form a wedge between their partner. If he says he understands, make sure your needs have been explained with action-type words, rather than symbolic inference. For example, men will understand the phrase, "I want you to grab and kiss me more often," much more than, "I need more romance."

10. "I'm not separated"

Cheating among married men is a tricky proposition. His real trick is to capture his pursued sex object's confidence, making her think she's about to get a good man -- when in fact she's only getting a cheating husband. Never believe a married man who makes these types of statements or promises. If he's a cheater, he's also a liar!
