SPECIAL ISSUE 2010-11
A two day workshop on Career counseling for competitive examinations was organized through JIPC of our college on 7th and 8th of August, 2010 in association with UGC and Job information and Guidance Centre, University of Mysore, Mysore.
This programme was unique in its nature. In the changing scenario of the global village, demand for competitive examinations viz., Civil Service Examinations (IAS, IPS …), KAS, Bank-LIC – Police, etc., is increasing everyday. Keeping in track of this changing scenario, this programme was organized for the final and second year students (both boys and girls). A total of 222 students (40%) participated in this programme. The programme was so envisaged that the students should get the basic information’s not only relating to IAS and KAS but also on other competitive examinations. In addition, the importance was also given
to psychological fear of examinations, importance of Hindi and on Safe Driving on roads. This programme is happening for the first time not only in the history of our college but for the first time in many of the Government, aided and private colleges of our State. We are happy about it. I personally thank all supported this programme.

Shri Wazid Khan from Kendriya Vidhyalaya, Hassan impressed upon the students on the importance of hindi especially in the Competitive exams viz., Civil services exams., Hindi should be studied as one of the Indian language with which one can move around any where in our own country. Apart from this, through hindi – one can know more about our country especially in the area of culture and social aspects, through the literature written in hindi. This helps an IAS, IPS, etc., personnels to make better decisions. The feeling of oneness also can be felt through this language.

Sri H V Lakshminarayan, Principal in the concluding speech of the programme, recalled the success & painful events and incidents of placement activities of yester years. To make the placement activities become true in Government Colleges situated in rural areas needed extra effort and sincere persuasions. But because of these qualities, today MNCs viz., Infosys, WIPRO, etc., are not only conducting campus selections in our college itself but also making our college as nodal centre for campus selections for the entire Hassan District. Till today many students have received appointment orders from various MNCs even before leaving the college. This is a satisfying achievement.
The effort of JIPC since its inception 8 years back, is to create awareness among these rural students about Corporate requirements, etiquette, MNCs, interview concepts, body language, importance of language english, analytical skills, logical thinking, english grammar, vocabulary, etc., But from few years, we are also putting in effort to create awareness on various competitive examinations including civil services exams., Our effort is to create awareness and to some possible extent guide them without expecting immediate results. We hope this effort yields good result in long term. These gennext rural students definitely will have a better vision and dreams. Let their dreams come true in flying colours.
