Nashville-based independent singer-songwriter Ben Rector brings listeners a breath of fresh air with his new single “The Thanksgiving Song”. The sense of nostalgia and homecoming throughout the song is profound as he reflects on the love and belonging that comes from being surrounded by family on Thanksgiving - especially given this unprecedented year. “We made it through, I do believe, the longest year in history... Thank God that it’s Thanksgiving Day,” sings Rector.
A lifelong bluegrass and country music fan, legendary singer, songwriter and producer Barry Gibb (of the Bee Gees) has long dreamed of a project that would bring him together with some of the artists he admires the most. With the help of Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, that dream has become a reality with Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers Songbook, Vol. 1—out January 8 on Capitol Records.
“I realized I hadn’t ever heard a Thanksgiving song or Thanksgiving music,” said Rector, “and I felt like everyone has an emotional connection and a lot of memories around Thanksgiving, just like they do Christmas, and it felt like a good opportunity to try to connect to that. It honestly just felt odd that I hadn’t ever heard someone try to do that, and I figured I’d give it a shot.”
Across twelve of the Gibb Brothers beloved songs reborn, the album features collaborations with Alison Krauss, Brandi Carlile, David Rawlings, Dolly Parton, Gillian Welch, Jason Isbell, Jay Buchanan, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Olivia Newton-John, Sheryl Crow and Tommy Emmanuel. In advance of the release, “Words of a Fool,” featuring Grammy Award-winning Jason Isbell, is now available.

A treat for ‘singing cowboy’ fans: a new release from one of the best. Tex Ritter, The Songs Of The West is available now from Country Rewind Records, best known for bringing unreleased traditional Country music into the contemporary era. Tex Ritter was well suited to the role of singing cowboy. He was one of the first artists to record albums built around a central theme, as he recorded albums of cowboy songs, patriotic songs, hymns, and Mexican songs as well as albums of country music. Tex Ritter, The Songs Of The West was produced by Jim Farrell and Co-Produced by Rex Allen Jr. The Executive Producer on the project was Tom Gramuglia. “Tex recorded these tracks for broadcast on the radio and these versions of the songs were never commercially released,” noted project producer Farrell. Of the experience, Barry Gibb shares, “I feel deep down that Maurice and Robin would have loved this album for different reasons. I wish we could have all been together to do it…but I think we were.”
