FAB TEXTILES
SHOWCASE + EXPO
The showcase is a selection of young and skillful creators that combine fashion design, technology and wearables, a practical approach on how sensor driven textiles, integrated solutions for everyday life, digital couture and interactive performance come into our everyday life. Architects, fashion designers, engineers and programmers get together through multidisciplinary synergies reinventing and establishing new ways in approaching fashion, wearables, materiality and production.
Questions the way fashion industry and education have transformed our life in a given fast and unconscious way. Inside a triggering and innovative environment, the fab lab sets the ground for experimentation on new materials and processes through a technological prism that addresses innovation and entrepreneurship. New ways of manufacture arise combining traditional methods and new digital tools. This applied research is about integrating technological advances into the textile industry and education.

Sisyphus Stone is an interactive video installation about the perpetual effort to achievement. Sisyphus gives form to the human condition through an interactive game where the user can animate the scene as long as he perceive and dominate time. In Greek mythology Sisyphus was punished for chronic deceitfulness by being compelled to roll an immense boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, and to repeat this action forever. The interaction interface consists of a laser cut mechanical gear system, which the audience interacts with by rotating them. The gear’s movement controls Sisyphus going up a 3d printed mountain made out of 44 unique pieces that interlock one with the other like a puzzle

Leka open source restaurant
Leka is a restaurant designed and fabricated locally in the distict of Poble Nou in Barcelona. A network of distributors and designers, chefs, arquitects, graphic designers, producers complete the process of its making.

The project is an example of open source design, local production , accesibility and personal manufacturing.

Studies Inspired by fashion design, clothes and their fabrication techniques the workshop was about adopting a transformable second skin. Individual form finding desing stategies were developed in order to generate spatial cocepts with the parallel search of materials and geometries. The generator idea was the “seam of a cloth and its different types (its magnification to three dimensions produced gaps and fills that allowed the exploration of a transformable skin and the interactive space between it and the body Textile Structures_ form finding workshop 2008 AUTH University Team: Pantazis Evan
