Through my practice I have continued to look at how brand and type has been used within printed material. I have explored how format effects concept and the brand visual, looking at various studios and points of random influence which have employed similar investigations as myself. ‘I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares, as opposed to ugly things. That’s my intent.’ Saul Bass

‘The life of a designer is a life of fight. Fight against the ugliness. Just like a doctor fights against disease. For us, the visual disease is what we have around, and what we try to do is cure it somehow with design.’ Massimo Vignelli

Brightpads is a series of notepads in which the audience can begin to develop ideas and experiences which then can be gathered and connected together. The studio felt it was important to focus these thoughts into a space where you could explore, play and contemplate, to push the boundaries as far as you could. A series of products that would allow your idea to be set on paper and exercise your thoughts. Collect – Imagine – Focus – Write – Create – Do.

Dust The studio was established in 2000 and is based within the industrial city of Sheffield Uk. Dust is a commercial graphic arts & design studio which produces work across media with a variety of application. The areas which they cover are branding, book design, typography, print, screen based media and illustration. Main influence to my practice is their print and screen based work. Use of simplistic letterforms and illustrations is a design visual which I have applied to a variety of my own works and has shaped my interests in design.
