Christmas Tour of Homes The Natchitoches Historic Foundation proudly announces the sites for the 2016 Christmas Tour of Homes available to tourists. Focusing on the expressions of the Christmas season, all of the sites for the 2016 tour are located in the Historic District. Each day, the houses showcased are in walking distance from each other.
WEDNESDAY, December 7 & 14 Dunahoe House - 358 rue Jefferson
Resplendent in holiday decorations for the Christmas season, the Home of Mr. and Mrs. Jared Dunahoe is a new structure in the Historic District on the site of the Levy-East Townhome, destroyed by fire. Guests will enjoy the seasonal reminders of the traditions of the Dunahoe family as they tour this beautiful home.
Lemee House - (circa 1830) - 301 rue Jefferson Decorated with period Christmas greens and historical memorabilia belonging to members and friends of the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, Lemee will have a different holiday look. Guests will sip hot cider and listen to carolers as they hear about Christmas in the early 19th century. Soldini House (circa 1847) - 240 rue Jefferson
An addition to the 2016 Tour, the upside down Christmas tree in the parlor of Soldini, and other period Christmas decorations will be highlighted by hoop skirted docents giving guests information about Christmas traditions of the family that has owned the house for more than 100 years.
Jefferson Street Townhouse (circa 1920s) 230 rue Jefferson The beautifully appointed Bed and Breakfast includes a wide veranda, eleven foot ceiling, hardwood floors, period antiques, and is lovingly decorated with organic materials for the Christmas season. The gardens surrounding the house are lovely, even during the colder months of the year.

Christmas along Poete - For the first time, NHF will close Poete Street between Jefferson Street and Second Street to highlight venues for Mrs. Claus with her cookies to decorate, Santa’s elves helping children to create ornaments from natural materials, dancers celebrating the season, musicians playing seasonal music, and other events for family fun. Additionally, houses along Poete will be open for touring.
Bayou Amulet (circa 1850s) - 202 Rue Poete
This elegant home is currently a private residence, but was formerly a Bed & Breakfast. Christmas collections from over many years and traditional seasonal decorations make the home a “must see” for the holidays.

800 rue Front St. The museum provides a permanent home showcasing the achievements of more than 300 Louisiana athletes, coaches and other sports figures. The Northwest Louisiana History Museum, on 2nd floor, explores the evolution of cultural traditions of area.
Experience the charm of Historic Natchitoches during this annual holiday event Good House (circa 1930) - 314 Rue Poete Complete restored in 2013, the house is a lovely blend of historic charm and traditional sophistication. Now operated as a Bed and Breakfast in the historic district, the house has hidden charms shared by knowledgeable docents as they highlight period Christmas decorations and traditions of current and former owners.
Festival of Lights/Christmas Festival is presented by the City of Natchitoches and the Historic District Business Association.
Laureate House (circa 1840) - 225 Rue Poete
A lovely cottage, Laureate is a beautiful example of a small townhouse from the mid-19th century. A quaint garden surrounds the period structure decorated at Christmas with natural elements, reflecting the period. Docents will share the story of the home, entertaining guests with activities taking place in the home across nearly two centuries.
SATURDAY, December 10 & 17 Sweet Cane Inn (circa 1890s) - 925 Washington Built in the late 1800s, Phanor Breazeale built this fine example of Victorian architecture that now operates as a Bed & Breakfast. Twelve foot ceiling and beautiful floors and windows are showcased in this beautiful house. Decorated with period and traditional seasonal pieces appropriate for the Christmas season, this is a lovely sight for guests to enjoy. Emma’s Cottage (circa 1930s) - 911 Washington

A delightful cottage originally bought in kit form from a Sears & Roebuck catalog, this riverside house is a private residence steeped in tradition. The beautiful river access from the rear of the house, is highlighted by twinkling lights and comfortable seating. The traditionally and seasonally decorated interior includes a large collection of wooden nut crackers, and other collections belonging to the owner.
Ryrick “Little House” (circa 1930s) - 811 Washington
Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ryrick have recently purchased this charming cottage and have made it a second home for family and friends to enjoy along the beautiful Cane River. At Christmas, the lovely home transitions into a seasonal delight for guests to see. Inside and out, tourists will appreciate the architectural and interior design.
Cunningham Law Office (circa 1860) - 550 Second St. The Natchitoches Historic Foundation bought and restored this fine example of a mid-19th century law office, housing five generations of lawyers over more than 150 years. The Law Office is decorated with period antiques and art, and houses the part of the Mildred Hart Bailey collection of Clementine Hunter paintings left to the Foundation. The office is beautifully decorated with seasonal and traditional natural materials, where docents will welcome guests with stories and information about the property. Trinity Episcopal Church (circa 1850s) - 533 Second St. The church continues to serve as a house of God going on two centuries. Beautifully adorned for the Christmas season with natural materials, historically significant pieces of art and communion vessels are shown. *Homes subject to change. Recently named by MSN.com as “One of the Cutest Towns in the South”, enjoy our daylong festival filled with music, entertainment, arts and crafts, food vendors, the parade, and our famous firework show choreographed to holiday music over Cane River Lake.
