In December 2011 the Dunkerley family bought a four-bedroom home on the Grange Development by Esh Construction in County Durham. The efficient Trivselhus climate shield system and the use of an air source heat pump with under floor heating and solar photovoltaic panels offset energy bills in the house by 50% in the first 12 months.

THE TRIVSELHUS SYSTEM Outstanding fabric performance you can rely on to meet UK building regulations and the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The Trivselhus climate shield allows delivery of an outstandingly economical home within 8-12 weeks. The climate shield provides excellent thermal efficiency, with lifetime savings in energy costs. It has been honed to perfection to operate in climatic conditions rare in the UK. Exacting Swedish regulations demand that families and businesses are able to minimise their use of energy, so our buildings meet and often exceed all current UK building regulations. The building design and costs will be agreed and signed off by the client and Trivselhus before construction begins.
The building is then produced in sections, which are meticulously coded to ensure simple and straightforward erection. Simplified on-site construction keeps costs down and brings workplace safety benefits. Each section of the building is made up of several layers, integrating insulation at the outset. Windows and doors and conduits for electrical services are built in at the factory, along with any other bespoke requests, which ensures precision fitting to maintain the airtight shell.

STATUTORY REGULATIONS The Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM criteria and revised UK Building Regulations are demanding gradually higher levels of energy efficiency in the construction and day to day running of buildings. This is a trend that is set to continue. It is challenging many of the construction processes, forcing developers and architects to seek more cost effective
ways of meeting regulatory requirements in addition to those of their clients. The Trivselhus climate shield provides a high-performance, thermally efficient building envelope that can achieve compliance with the existing legislation and the proposed building Fabric Energy Efficiency Standards (FEES) as well as achieving excellent scores against the Code for Sustainable Homes criteria.
The airtight, thermally efficient climate shield creates a temperature controlled building interior with exceptionally low space heating requirements. The Trivselhus system also provides an ideal platform for the addition of further ecofriendly technologies.
