Retail interior design - Nathan Arnold Start: Wed 5 Jan

End: Fri 4 March

Time: 7 weeks

Alphaland Gym founder: Christian Guzman Alphaland, The self made Texan founded Alphalete gym apparel, 3D energy drinks and his own distribution warehouse to help ship everything under his umbrella company Alphalete Holdings. He also founded Alphalete which was the first gym in his brand which is located in Stafford, Texas, United states

Components of Alphaland gym: • Alphalete HQ • Three gyms • A hotel • Shared work and lounge spaces • A football field • Dedicated restaurant under the Alphalete group • A basketball court • Up to 42 covered spots and a vast open area parking lot • 19,000 sq ft of land

Supreme Sport Village Rome / Italy / 2016 Although this is just a gym / sport centre, it shows a nice idea of a large modern sports area with two indoor swimming pools and 1 outdoor, a gym and sports pitches. This shows elements I would like to include in my project, aiming to create a sports retail store with sports facilities attached.

Hyper leaves Prada, Galeries Lafayette, Paris France

This store interior is definitely very eye catching and would draw anyone in the store towards it, even if you were outside just to look at the green forms. This would draw attention to your products however is also very flashy and expensive. A casual sports retail brand isn’t as flashy as designer clothing like Prada.

Presented by Doha Doha / Qatar / 2021

This clothing / shoe store has a similar organic design to the National Museum of Qatar, which has a gift shop designed like a cave structure. Therefore doubling as an organic design concept however in this case for designer clothing retail. The light strips in the walls and floor give a rather futuristic look to the design making it look like it could even be the interior of some alien UFO or space ship. The walls are very curvy and wave like almost creating optical illusions that the corridors are moving

Armani 5th Avenue, Flagship store, NY - Fuksas Architects

The Armani flagship store features an eye catching staircase as its main attraction, with a larger main one and a smaller one located within the store. These staircases are very sleek and curvy which stands out the utilitarian rather modern and angular theme of the rest of the building, really making the staircases stand out. Not only just a piece of art but customers might go out of their way to come to this store to see the stairs amongst their shopping trip.

Organic forms: Sandworm, Willow cathedral on Belgian dunes

Although this structure is outside the wicker basket like tunnel could be interpreted to create a similar form suitable for an interior space. I like how it lets light through the walls and curves although it has visible ridges. From the outside it looks interesting and maybe even like a shell since it is on the beach. However the inside is a mesmerising different story.

Utilitarian: Arket store London ‘At the Arket store, products are displayed cross cool grey shelves and rails made up of simple repeating grids and vertical and horizontal planks’

‘Inside the London store, clothing is colour-coded and hung or folded with near-surgical precision’

Contour lines, ‘ridge system’- research “Mathematica makes it very easy to to plot the contour lines for a function of two real variables using ContourPlot. It also makes it very easy to plot the streamlines of vector fields using Stream Plot. However, I need to plot "contour lines" which can not come from either method. Simply put, a "ridge system" is like a vector field, but instead of associating a vector based at every point on the plane, we associate a "line," or "direction," or "unoriented vector." Ridge lines kind of look like stream line plots, but where the stream lines are not "directed." In fact, there is in general no way to "direct" the ridge lines in a consistent manner, so they can't come from the stream lines of any vector field. Three examples are below.” - plotting - How to plot special contour lines for a "Ridge System" of complex function? - Mathematica Stack Exchange

This is from a mathematical equation about vectors (shown above). I think they look like magnetic filed waves or even almost a fingerprint like pattern.
