DAY 1 I KALISPELL, MONTANA/WHITEFISH Arrive in Kalispell and transfer to the town of Whitefish, located in the heart of the northern Rocky Mountains and the gateway to Glacier National Park. Enjoy an evening at leisure to relax at the lodge or explore the town on your own. Grouse Mountain Lodge DAY 2 I BIG MOUNTAIN/FLATHEAD RIVER The adventure begins atop the Big Mountain—otherwise known as Whitefish Mountain Resort—with a bird’s-eye view of the magnificent landscapes you’ll be exploring this week. Ride the scenic lift to the top of the mountain, and set out on a short hike, taking in spectacular views of Glacier’s jagged peaks, Whitefish Lake, and the verdant Flathead Valley below. Enjoy a picnic near the west entrance of Glacier National Park before a scenic float or a whitewater-rafting excursion on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. As you glide along the southern border of Glacier National Park through steep-walled canyons, keep an eye out for birds, elk, and other wildlife. DAY 3 I GLACIER NATIONAL PARK AND LOGAN PASS Follow the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road over Logan Pass this morning. An engineering feat when it was completed in 1933, the road stretches 50 miles, bisecting the park from east to west and offering up incredible mountain vistas at every turn. As you make your way to the east side of Glacier National Park, stop for a picnic and various hikes with your guide. Your destination is the historic Glacier Park Lodge, also known as Big Tree Lodge for the 60 enormous Douglas fir logs that support the lobby. DAY 4 I MANY GLACIER VALLEY Journey north to Many Glacier Valley, home to abundant wildlife, massive peaks, and some of the park’s most visible glaciers. Set out on a trek to Grinnell Glacier, hiking past waterfalls and through alpine meadows on your way to the glacier. Or enjoy a leisurely excursion to Grinnell Lake, a sparkling turquoise lake at the foot of sharp peaks. Keep an eye out for the wildlife that resides in the valley, including bald eagles, moose, and bears. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon and enjoy an evening at leisure. DAY 5 I BLACKFEET RESERVATION Delve into the traditions and contemporary culture of the Blackfeet Indians with a morning visit to the Lodgepole Gallery and Tipi Village. Here, surrounded by prairies, join Blackfeet artist Darrell Norman to learn about Blackfeet history and the traditional rituals of everyday life, from buffalo jumps to medicine lodges. Visit the Lodgepole Gallery, a fine art gallery featuring the work of local Blackfeet artists and other Northern Plains Indian artists. Then stop in at the Museum of the Plains Indian for an in-depth look at the history and distinct cultures of numerous Northern Plains tribes, including the Sioux, Nez Perce, and Cree. DAY 6 I TWO MEDICINE Enjoy a final day exploring the trails of your choice in the stunning Two Medicine region of the park. Cross Two Medicine Lake by boat to get to your trailhead, and hike past waterfalls to gem-like alpine lakes, taking in phenomenal views, including the conical peak of Rising Wolf Mountain. DAY 7 I MANY GLACIER VALLEY/ KALISPELL After breakfast, enjoy final views of Glacier National Park before transferring to the airport to catch your flight home. Meals: 1B
