National Geographic Quest for the entire voyage Meals: 1B, 1L, 2D DAYS 3–4 I SANTA ROSA NATIONAL PARK/ GUANACASTE CONSERVATION AREA Explore the Guanacaste Conservation Area, a network of national parks that has been named a World Heritage site for its biodiversity. Kayak or paddle board along the coast of Santa Rosa National Park in search of toucans, ospreys, and parrots. Venture ashore in Rincón de la Vieja National Park, encompassing more than 34,000 acres and two active volcanoes. Soak in hot springs; go horseback riding, canyoneering, or ziplining; or explore nearby archaeological sites. Meals: 2B, 2L, 2D DAYS 1–2 I SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA/ ZAPOTAL BEACH/BAHIA HUEVOS Arrive in San José and embark our ship. Chart a course for the UNESCO World Heritage– designated Guanacaste Conservation Area. Anchor off Zapotal Beach for a morning of snorkeling and water sports. After lunch on board, cruise north to the Papagayo Penisula to explore Bahia Huevos by Zodiac. If conditions permit, kayak or paddleboard amid nearby mangroves.
DAYS 5–6 I CURÚ NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE/ISLA TORTUGA/SAN JOSÉ Walk the trails of Curú National Wildlife Refuge and learn about the creatures that inhabit this hotspot of biodiversity. Later, cruise to Isla Tortuga to explore its white sand beaches before a sunset barbecue dinner. The next morning, disembark in San José and transfer to the airport to connect with your flight home.
