DAY 1 | CASABLANCA, MOROCCO

DAYS 2–3 | MEKNÈS/VOLUBILIS/FEZ

Tour the imperial city of Meknès and the well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis. Later, travel to Fez and enjoy a traditional tagine lunch at a G Adventures–supported cooperative that benefits rural Moroccan women and children.

DAYS 4–5 | MERZOUGA/TINGHIR

Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains to the Sahara. Explore the dunes on a thrilling 4×4 dunes tour. Visit the village of Khamliya, where you will meet Gnaoua musicians and learn about the history of their music. Later, meet local Amazigh (Berber) nomads and sip mint tea in one of their homes.

DAY 6 | DADES VALLEY/OUARZAZATE

Venture into the Dades Valley, and admire the fascinating rock formations in the Dades Gorge; then continue along the “route of 1,000 kasbahs,” and step into the 19th-century Kasbah Taourirt. Opt to meet an Amazigh herbalist in Ouarzazate to learn about traditional remedies.

DAYS 7–9 I AÏT BEN HADDOU/ MARRAKECH

Visit Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site; then continue to Marrakech. Enjoy free time to explore Marrakech’s landmarks or wander its bustling markets. Opt to take a historical tour, visit the Bahia Palace, or take in the colorful chaos of Djemaa el Fna square. Visit a historic riad for a hands-on cooking class led by a Moroccan chef. On our final day, depart at any time.

DAYS 1–2 | KIGALI, RWANDA

Later, embark on a community walk in the vibrant Nyamirambo neighborhood, and enjoy a local lunch. Travel to northern Rwanda in the afternoon.

DAYS 3–4 | VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Track endangered golden monkeys with a ranger, and visit the Karisoke Research Center, home of the largest gorilla conservation organization in the world. Then, embark on an unforgettable gorilla trek, and witness their fascinating social dynamics up close. Later, visit a local village.

DAYS 5–6 | AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

Continue east to Akagera National Park. On a behind-the-scenes visit to the African Parks headquarters here, discover how dedicated work by the local communities resulted in the return of wildlife to the park’s savannas, forested hills, and wetlands. Wake before sunrise the following day for an early morning safari drive in search of giraffes, gazelles, impalas, baboons, and Burchell’s zebras. In the afternoon, glide along Lake Ihema by boat, watching for hippos and crocodiles.

DAYS 7–8 | KIGALI

Head out with a packed breakfast for our final safari drive in the early hours when animals are most active. Travel overland back to Kigali. On our final day, depart at any time.
