Explains Kate Kerin, Fenton & Fenton’s Marketing Manager, “Lucy Fenton launched the business with her sister in 2009 as an expression of her love of global design. Having travelled extensively through India and Asia, Lucy developed an amazing eye for colour, fabrics, shapes and form – and this led to her opening a retail store where she curated a considered collection of beautiful homewares that she sourced or designed and had manufactured.” With limited experience in running a business, and launching during the GFC, Lucy and her sister faced a series of frustrations and setbacks. After the first year Lucy’s creative and sales skills came to the fore, and the sisters decided to part ways in terms of the business. Lucy took over running the store on her own and then few years later opened a showroom in Prahran - and has never looked back. “Lucy can translate her passion for design into sales because she has an incredible way with people,” says Kate. “She lives and breathes design and has such a distinct way with colour, style and visual merchandising.” The residential and commercial interior design and property styling aspects of the business were established to satisfy demand. Customers fell in love with Lucy’s aesthetic and her way of bringing together furniture and decorative pieces to create a space that works in terms of form and function. That aspect of the business has grown exponentially over the last few years because there is nothing formulaic about Lucy’s design style. Explains Kate, “Fenton & Fenton brings together an eclectic mixture of stories and translates these to individual homes in a way that is comfortable for the client. Sometimes just one statement piece in an otherwise neutral palette can really express the personality of the homeowner. Lucy doesn’t follow trends at all. She creates her own sense of style with materials and textures that are unexpected and familiar at the same time, with cultural influences and pops of colour to create a unique look. Our ethos is to provide clients with pieces they will love for life regardless of time and trend.”

With all that has occurred over the last 18 months, with CoVid-19, lockdowns and travel restrictions, Fenton & Fenton is staying true to their original vision of offering inspiration to those who want to create beautiful spaces. They are focused on making their Prahran showroom a destination for all things design, to working with customers and to optimising the online experience to match the store experience.
